My quest to experience an awesome lake view while having an incredible dinning experience took me to Wall Lake Tavern. I'm giving WLT three stars because the food was pretty good, the service was prompt and the facility was very clean. The view of the lake was very poor and there was no outdoor dinning. The little restaurant is a bit confusing to start. You can park on one side and enter the family room or the opposite side of the building and enter the bar. Neither side has much appeal or view of the lake. The building is dated. It's not overwhelming attractive or modern. It is cozy, lake decor appropriate and very clean! The bar area is very small and not particularly inviting. Now on to the food...For starters we ordered the fried mushrooms. These were definitely hand dipped as they weren't very uniform in appearance. The breading was nice and thick with a small amount os seasoning. The hand dipped process left the small crumbles and cling ons - which we loved! The mushrooms were very meaty and only slightly greasy. These were very good!! The waitress seemingly gave us 12 choices of sauces. We picked the horseradish mustard sauce. This sauce had the look of mustard but almost no mustard or horseradish zing. Actually, the breaded mushrooms were so good by themselves...the odd sauce only spoiled the taste. I ordered the special perch dinner with a side salad and Cole slaw. The side salad was very plain. The side vegetables were almost nonexistent. The lettuce, while fresh, had no burst of flavor due to very little garnishments. The salad dressing was a small cup of Ken's salad dressing. I wasn't fond of Ken's honey mustard. I suppose it's better to us a dressing pro than try to make a dressing yourself if that isn't your forte. Overall...the salad was not appetizing. The perch was excellent! It was lightly breaded and not greasy to taste. The fish tasted fresh. My wife had the cod and she also thought it was very good. The tarter sauce was pretty good as well. It was a mayo based sauce that was a little thinner than you might expect. This made it easy to pour, dip and spread. The sauce only had a slightly sweet taste and hint of pickle. Overall...the tarter sauce accented the fish well without dominating the taste. The Cole slaw was not good. The slaw had very small pieces of cabbage and the Mayo base made it soupy. The Cole slaw seemed to be very peppery to go along with a very bland overall taste. Wall Lake Tavern was an interesting experience. We were very impressed by how friendly and prompt the staff was. For an older place...we were really struck by how clean and organized things were. And there were some good items that were pretty good. read more

The broasted chicken was juicy and cooked perfectly! I also enjoyed the broasted fries (think super crispy potato wedges). The salad was nothing to write home about and the interior was extremely muggy. Service was friendly and food came out pretty quickly despite the large crowds. Most things on the menu are pretty heavy so it's not the place to come if you're looking for something light, however, I'd come back for the chicken. read more

Went and tried for the first time a new place but the service all around was awful. Bartender was nice, ordered a burger and asked for the burgers to be medium rare and if they were made fresh not frozen and told made fresh. LOL, burgers made fresh should not be small perfectly sized and overcooked. When I got the wrong burger and said something then found out that my order was given to someone else, so instead of making that right, she brought me my burger given to someone else where it was already cold and over cooked. When I got by bill I was charged for ice at 3.00 dollars and they stated it was a rocks pour, which it was far from that. Places should not assume that and I did watch the pour. If they consider that a rocks pour, you are not getting a proper pour. Working for a food and beverage company that goes around trying new places to give the reviews it is so sad how so many places don't uphold the best standards when trying to open up a business. The only good thing is the do carry alot of brands for drinking cocktails but the beer is not cold enough. The food needs to be better and the employees providing it. My family lives near Angola and we're always looking for something new. Wall Lake Tavern is not new, but it is awesome. We arrived around 7:30pm on a Saturday and waited about 15 minutes for table. Waiting is outside...the place is small. We're all over 21 and drank/dined in the bar. We went for the baskets, clams and perch. Fabulous. A couple Busch Lights and we were in business. Fish was prepared with just the right amount of breading and the fries were nice alongside. Overall, wonderful evening with the parents at a place straight out of the past. Also, there are some comments on Yelp about this place being expensive. This meal was barely more than eating at Arby's and comparable if not less than 90% of restaurants I've been to. So check the menu before you go, but your money goes a long way at the tavern. read more

Good food here-have eaten there several times. During the summer weekends around dinner time you normally have to wait for a table. Nice little salad bar is a welcome touch. Waitresses are friendly but can get overpowered because place is packed in close. Good food and a nice hidden gem. read more

Pleasantly surprised. Great baby back ribs and super salad bar. My wife had a ribeye and it was wonderful. Prices are a bit high for a little lake pub but they know how to cook a meal. What a find!! Ate here middle of the week and they have a great menu and specials every night. I opted for the chicken and it was good as were the sides. My wife and I drove over 60 miles round trip to eat here because we always enjoyed the salad bar. Well,they quit serving iceberg lettuce and substituted that dark green crap and the bitter purple stuff ,because the cook decided it was healthier. I will make the decision what I to put in my my mouth if I'm paying for it. The soup was terrible and gave my wife stomach trouble. I doubt if we will be back. Six of us went on a Friday night and we were prepared to want, but were lucky enough to get a table within 10 Minutes. We waited at the bar and not until we were seated, were we asked if we wanted drinks. At that point we said we would order at the table. Waited another 15 minutes before our waitress came to take our drink order. When she returned with our drinks she scurried off to clean tables before taking our order. Three of us were going to have broasted chicken, so we knew we would have to wait at least another 25minutes for chicken. We had to ask another waitress if we could please get someone to take our order. Finally we placed our order. When our food came we were told that we had to know wait for three of the chicken wings. We asked to speak to the manager, who told us that we had to wait an additional 25 minutes for the chicken. So we tried to explain to her how the evening was shaping USPS, she cut us short, chicken takes 25 minutes, sorry we make a mistake period and walked away. My baked potato was cold, and my husband ordered cole slaw instead of the salad bar, which he never received. So with that said, if you don't mind the wait our food was good. This was our second time going and both times good food, terrible server. The manager made it seem that she did not care weather we were happy or not. read more
