I always imagined B&B's to be kinda awkward and weird staying with strangers in a home. But all my assumptions were completely wrong. This place was amazing!! The home is sooo beautiful and spacious. They have 3 bedrooms downstairs with a large den area with a tv and lots of dvds. There is also a hot tub outside on the deck as well. A door is located downstairs so it makes it convenient for you to go in and out as you please. Each bedroom has a bathroom inside so you don't have to worry about sharing the bathroom with strangers. The rooms are very spacious and you really feel at home. They have complementary soaps, lotions, toothpaste and everything like a hotel. For breakfast, they print out a customized menu with your names on top. Such a nice touch! I loved it. Breakfast comes with coffee/tea and juices, fruit plate and a choice of a breakfast entree. They cook it as you order it. The owners were very friendly and made it a very comfortable stay. I would totally recommend this B&B to anymore. Differently a great experience!

This property…read morewas built specifically to function as a B&B, and it's clear that Michelle and Ron put a great deal of thought into building their home as a warm, inviting, and very functional space. We arrived a little late the first night, and were greeted by Michelle, who gave us a quick tour, taking us through the dining room on the main level, downstairs to the common sitting room from which the three guest rooms are accessed. As one example of a smart design, guests access the sitting room by way of a separate downstairs entrance, with plenty of spots for wet shoes and jackets in the entryway. (Shoes off while in the B&B!) We stayed in the Creekside Suite, which provided ample and comfortable space for us and our two adult children. Michelle made us feel welcome and right at home. As did the delicious cookies she left for us! The room was great. If we had to make any suggestion, it would be to provide some sort of movable privacy screen in the bathroom. Not needed for a couple, but would be helpful when traveling as a family. Breakfasts were fantastic, with a daily custom menu with many tempting alternatives from which to choose. We thoroughly enjoyed everything we had. Michelle and Ron are fabulous hosts. They are friendly and hospitable, great conversationalists, and helped us with great tips to enjoy our stay in the area. We didn't get to spend a lot of time with Bailey the dog (apparently, he's not allowed to join the guests for breakfast!), but he was out when we went up to say goodbye on our last day. He's a big, lovable teddy bear of a dog. Be careful once you start petting him--he may not let you stop! :) The Girdwood area is beautiful. We enjoyed some hiking (Winner's Creek and Virgin Creek Falls) while we were in the area, in between our other planned activities: a dog sled ride on Punchbowl Glacier, and the 26 Glacier boat tour out of Whittier. Hidden Creek B&B was the perfect home away from home for us in Girdwood, and we would definitely stay there if we are ever again fortunate enough to return to the area. Thank you, Ron and Michelle!

We walked those routes many times during our stay. It was also very conveniently located within walking distance of the Alaska Rail station. It is not located near any grocery stores, however, so we did a big Costco shop shortly after our arrival in Anchorage. Our room was on the top floor and we had a great view through the living room window. The bedroom has plenty of closet space as well as a comfortable queen sized bed and ceiling fan. The bathroom is small with no bathtub, but has an awesome rain shower. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Because we stayed as long as we did, we did not receive the bagged breakfast offered to other guests. We were asked what we would like and were given fruit, bread, eggs, yogurt, butter, bacon, bananas, apples, oranges and granola. Basically, everything we asked for, we received. It was great being able to make our own breakfasts! Compared to the price of hotels, many of which are located only a block or two away from the Arctic Fox, this place is a good deal. As well, as the privacy of your room, you have access to a large outdoor deck with tables and chairs as well as a grassy area with a table and chairs and there is a common room and a laundry room. A cab to/from the airport cost us just $25. Now, as for the negatives. Anchorage has a homeless problem. Many homeless are attracted to a soup kitchen located within a block of the Arctic Fox. They did not harass us or approach us at any time, but they are there in numbers and it wasn't all that pleasant having to walk by them as often as we did. Most nights we didn't hear them either, but there were a couple of nights where they kept us awake with their shouting. This b&b is also located near the train tracks and during the day, especially if you have your windows open, the trains can be noisy. We were not bothered at night, however, because the bedroom is on the side opposite to where the tracks are located.

It's about a 20 min walk from the downtown area. We didn't mind walking around but if you want to be close to restaurants/shops this may not be the place for you. It doesn't look like much on the outside but once you're inside, it's pretty. There are no elevators so if you have bags they will help you carry them up. The common area is on the 2nd floor and so was our room. Some rooms share bathrooms. We didn't want to share so we requested a room with your own bathroom. When we checked in, Carol took good care of us, she was our host during our stay. She was a sweetheart, every morning she made breakfast and it was good. Yes, your stay comes with free breakfast. If you can't stay for breakfast just let your host know the day before and they will prepare you a bag and have it ready for you in the morning. House keeping was great! Our room was spotless! The whole place was spotless! The only complaint I have is that the walls are thin. It's an old house, I understand. We are from the east coast so we were in bed by 8pm. When other people came back from dinner we could hear them loud and clear, the walking and closing doors, etc. This was our first time at a Bed & Breakfast so we didn't know what to expect. While we enjoyed our stay we have discovered that we actually preferred hotels over B&B's. If you like B&B's and don't mind walking to the center of town or driving, then I would say give this place a try.

We stayed at 8 different bed and breakfast places during our trip touring Alaska and they were the best hosts! There is an understandable reason that Alaska House of Jade is #1 on Trip Advisor. The booking process was a breeze as it was facilitated by our travel agent Juxia from Homer. We stayed in two different rooms during our stay and both were great. Private bathrooms were a wonderful thing to have as not all B&B's have that and you have the daily morning fight for the bathroom. It is hard to get a feel of a B&B just from the pictures and reviews but after spending some time here I can highly recommend staying with Krista and Zack. They are perfect hosts and a wealth of information for your trip to Alaska. As this is yelp I will also mention the delicious food we had as well. On the first night we checked in late because our flight didn't arrive until past midnight but Krista had cookies out for us on the kitchen counter. Breakfast the first morning was sourdough pancakes, fresh fruit, yogurt, homemade granola, bacon, and delicious eggs! The second morning we got delicious homemade cinnamon buns with eggs and sausage. Overall the best breakfasts and hosts from our trip to Alaska. Pro tip: book early as they fill up quick

We stayed 3 nites at the beginning of our trip and our final nite. We ended up having our flight departure time changed from 4 pm to 11:30 p.m....but we still had to turn in our rental car early.....Krista was wonderful & invited us to hang out at the house, fed us dinner & Zack took us to the airport, it was like we were hanging out with family. The house is beautiful, breakfast it ridiculously tasty, and everything is clean & well appointed. House of Jade is your home away from home, you will not want to leave!
