I took my 13 year-old daughter for a haircut for back to school at Ulta Williston, VT. After THE…read morestylist had shampooed her hair, she came running to find me in the store announcing she could not continue the haircut because my daughter had head lice. Obviously, my daughter was extremely upset. We quickly left and racked our brains where she may have gotten the lice... but we were a little skeptical. After looking at her scalp, I decided to bring her to a walk-in urgent care clinic to confirm the diagnosis. The Doctor Who examined her was positive that It was NOT head lice at all, rather, she had a dry scalp and some flaky skin. Really unhappy with the fact this woman upset and embarrassed my daughter not to mention we were unable to get her the cut she needed before going back to school. We have previously had pretty good experiences with the Ulta stylist team, but this new hire definitely leave something to be desired both in her knowledge of hair and scalp conditions, as well as appropriateness when delivering potentially upsetting news to a client.

Shared my feedback and asked if she was okay having her staff put their feet on countertops. She said and I quote "I've owned this salon for 33 years and I don't care". I let her know that's her prerogative and appreciated her sharing, at which point she began to yell and scream at me over the phone - I've NEVER had a business owner do that to me, ever! I asked her not to yell and she said it was because I told Jess I was going to leave reviews online. I let her know that was unacceptable and I would not be treated like that. I asked her if she would refund my money as I would no longer be utilizing her services. Mind you, I've spent thousands of dollars there, I would implore her to research my account and see how much money I've spent. She said she would, and I asked if she or Jessica could call me when completed. I instantly got a "No, I'll cut you a check and I don't have to call you when it's been cut". Again, screaming at me, being rude and acting like a disrespectful professional. I have no idea how she's made it this far with her business and lack of professionalism and acumen, but I can only imagine it's because there is no real competition around. Beware of how the Diane owner will treat you should you have a conflict and want to address the challenge in a mature fashion. Unfortunately, frontline retail employees come and go (it's the nature of business) but loyal customers are hard to come by. Diane, thank you for showing me your true colors and how you operate a business. The State of Vermont may do nothing, but I will share my sanitation concerns with them and request they pull camera footage to corroborate my story. I would suggest next time someone has a concern, listen, act like a lady, try to resolve the matter and like a respectful business owner would. Hailey won't be there forever (and I ultimately wish her success) but word of mouth, reviews and how you treat your customers lasts forever.
