We have recently switched from CVS in the nearby Target to Walgreens as, evidently, Walgreens recently acquired the contract for our health insurance. Making a change is always tough, as we had been going to CVS for years, but Daran, the manager, made us feel very welcome today. Last night I rushed in at 9:00 PM just as the pharmacy was closing. The metal windows were down and the sign in the window was just being flipped to closed. Thankfully, at the end of a long day, Tuan, the pharmacist and Kevin, his assistant, were willing to help me get some much needed medications for my wife. Unfortunately, in the rush, I picked up some medications our insurance hadn't cleared and were much too expensive for us. I went ahead and paid for them as I was hurrying, grateful they reopened for me and wanted to make sure my wife got what she needed. Upon getting home and taking the time to talk it over we realized the mistake. Back first thing in the morning, now with the time pressure of getting to work on time, I found Tuan and Kevin back at work also! They were very professional, and empathetic, but also informed me that prescriptions cannot be returned once they leave the store. Seeing the dismay on my face they called in Daran, the manager, to see if perhaps he had any ideas. Daran was very cordial and professional and worked with me to find a solution. He was well within his rights to refuse to compromise and help me out in anyway, but he took the time to treat me like a person, evaluate the situation and not just go by protocol but find a creative solution that was acceptable to both of us. I haven't shopped at this pharmacy long, and change is always a bit nerve wracking, but Daran, Tuan and Kevin all really went out of their way to make me feel like a welcome and valued customer. I'm grateful for that and optimistic about our future as Walgreen's customers! read more

I will not return to this pharmacy. They used to be good but now a complete disaster. I understand every pharmacy is short staffed and over worked. Welcome to the new world. Most of us are in the same position but that doesn't give you the right to be rude to your customers. At least acknowledge us and explain you're running behind and that you appreciate our patience, rather than avoiding eye contact while we stand at the window forever. Tried to pick up my prescriptions (that I get 3 messages a day to remind me), the pharmacist doesn't like the way the doctor wrote the dosing instructions, so she won't fill the prescription until she speaks to the doctor. Even though I get multiple reminder calls/text messages to pick up my prescription. After 15 minutes of trying to hear her over a speaker with landscapers doing the parking lot around the drive through, I had to leave without getting any of my doctor prescribed, insurance approved prescriptions. Every time I try to pick up prescriptions, there's always a reason one isn't ready and requires multiple trips. Taking all my prescription needs elsewhere. read more

The female pharmacist is extremely rude. I recently had open heart surgery and having dental work done. She treated me and made me feel like a drug addict. Even though she called the Dr. To verify she still wouldn't fill my rx. No compassion. After waiting one hour she decided she didnt want to fill it and called me a liar about the other pharmacy not having the rx in stock, which they didnt. I'm a heart patient. Running around with pain was not how I wanted to spend my time. If the Dr. Says fill the rx she should do what she is told shes not the owner. Very dissatisfied. One star is too generous for this Walgreen. It is simply a disaster masquerading as a pharmacy. Health Care Industry core value is the interaction of Patients and healthcare professionals aimed at CARE for the patients. This Walgreen is no different than a lumberyard. The staff including the pharmacist herself is a soulless machine that simply go through the motions mechanically. They could care less about patients issues. They are simply filling the hours to get the paycheck. Since we moved to Simi Valley early 2021, I have been getting my medications from this pharmacy. There is a world of difference between this Walgreen and the one on Desoto and Devonshire. In Short they are unfriendly, arrogant, SLOW and uninterested in patient's well being. They are just going through the motions. It is more important for them to cover their behinds than trying to help the patients and understand their pain and suffering. Stay away from this one. I've been going to this Pharmacy for years, at first they were great. But in the last year the pharmacy customer service has gone so very downhill and the pharmacist is just plain rude. My doctor of over 10 years called in refills for medications I've been taking for years due to chronic conditions. I have now been out of my meds for four days and the pharmacist says he is not refilling my prescriptions because he doesn't know why I'm taking them. Since when does the pharmacist have the right to decide what medications I can take?? My doctor has called multiple times and the pharmacist is still refusing to fill my refills. I will be moving my prescriptions as well as my families prescriptions! read more

Horrible pharmacy service. Staff do not answer the phone, despite being routed automatically when attempting to refill a script. Mistakes made by staff are only resolved by physically waiting in the store to speak with already overwhelmed folk. I receive automated calls informing a prescription is ready, drive to the store for pickup to be told the order is not ready. "Surly" is good description of how customers are treated. read more

Do not get Covid tested here! I went in the first time and was called the next day saying they labeled my test wrong and I needed to redo it. I came in the next day and redid my test and it's been over a week and I still have not got my test results. I am so disappointed in their testing and had to spend $170 on a rapid test to go to hawaii the next day. Do not get tested here. read more

Older, red hair Cashier was so moody, rude and insulting. If you don't like your job than quit. I first asked for help finding soap, she walked away. I stood in line, her response was it's literally right here. I didn't bother confronting her to ruin my mood or day, so I walked out the store. This review is regarding the pharmacy only. I will never fill a prescription here again! They are either extremely understaffed or ridiculously slow. The drive thru is not efficient and I was told to pull back around numerous times because my prescription still had not been filled and they wanted to serve the customers waiting in line behind me- even when I arrived 30 minutes after I was told it would be ready for pick up. She suggested that I could come wait inside, but having two sick children with me didn't seem like the brightest of ideas. If they are understaffed or extremely busy, having the courtesy to tell me and provide me a more accurate pick up time would have been nice. If this had been the first time this had happened, I would be more understanding. read more

Just when I thought Walgreens (used to go to the Moorpark store) couldn't get any worse I encounter Simi's new pharmacy manager Anna (the reason for many of the other one star reviews on this site. I am coming from the perspective of a med school grad. Anna is coming from the perspective of someone who IMAGINES they're a med school grad but someone who actually makes a living pouring pills into the little bottle and then deciding who should get them and who shouldn't based on her own lack of medical knowledge. Battered and abused as a child I developed GAD at a young age and have been on and off anxiety meds since. Seems Anna thought I''d been on them long enough and made my doctor call her, refusing to refill my prescription if he didn't. So they spoke, and told him she would no longer honor his scripts and that they had to come from a shrink. I know a lot of shrinks, most are worthless and in it only for the money. In addition they are expensive, many don't take insurance and there are none in Simi Valley. I suppose Anna has formed her opinion of them by watching Grey's Anatomy. If you have any mental disorder and want to make it worse have your physician phone the script into this Walgreens and prepare for a day of hell, uninformed opinions and verbal abuse. AVOID this place like the plague! read more

I've always loved Walgreens because they stay about the same (not constantly changing what they carry and where you find it!). I'm also just a loyal person and "Walgreens is my store :-)" I also LOVE their pharmacists--They are especially nice! I've read other reviews that mention slowness in the pharmacy. I get about 2 RX's filled per month and haven't had any bad experiences. True, they are not always able to fill RIGHT away but I've never had an experience when they weren't ready when I was told. And I think it's true that here (like everywhere else nowadays) they could have an extra employee on staff at certain times. Seems like EVERYWHERE in the corporate world companies are at least a bit understaffed (compared to the service everyone used to expect decades ago). They are certainly no worse than "everyone" nowadays on this issue. Finally, my reason for 4 instead of 5 stars. For me personally, I'm totally happy with the pharmacy dept. But I'm unhappy with the store's Greeting Card department. In my mind, the drug store is always where I've always gone to get cards (places like Walmart are just too big for such a purpose). Walgreen's selection of cards is much more limited than it used to be. I imagine that was a business decision made on profitability (obviously). But perhaps they should consider the other things people buy while getting a greeting card--which is a regular purchase for many. I now sometimes just go to a DIFFERENT store to get a better selection--And that's frustrating to me (and Walgreen's loses more than just the card purchase when that happens.). Pharmacist very rude, often don't have meds available . Called the 28 th to get a RX refilled . Pharmacist told me it wasn't due until the 30th . I was just informing him that I wanted it filled for the 30 th. On the 29 th I check walgreen site . It said my RX was delayed. I've ran into problems when they haven't had my med in stock. I called the store and told the pharmacist I was calling about my RX. In a stern voice he said " I told you it won't be reading until tomorrow ". Yes I was a day early but he didn't have to be rude. Currently am having my insurance broker looking into different insurance so I don't have to go to Walgreens . read more

The pharmacy staff is horrible. The auto-refill service calls that my prescription is ready...I go to pick it up and after 10 minutes spelling my name multiple times, giving my birth date multiple times they tell me that they don't have anything ready and that I'll need to come back in a few hours. After the 3rd time of this exact same thing, I'm done! Back to Costco.. it's worth the extra money to know your medications are being handled by professionals!! read more

This location is nice and clean. The cosmetics were neatly displaced and picked at like other locations. The service was friendly. My only gripe was that I had a return and the cashier was't sure how to process it since I had used a coupon. She asked help from another employee that told her that $10 had to go back on a Walgreens card and the rest could go back on my credit card. Here's the thing, my total was $16.85. The coupon was worth $1. So why could't coupon price of $1 go back on the Walgreens card and the rest go on my credit card. No one could give an answer aside from, "That's how we do it." There was no sense in arguing. I go to Walgreens enough that I'll make use of the $10 gift card. Now they steal your prescriptions as well. My Rx has 2 refills and they told me they "transferred them to CVS". I never asked for a transfer to a pharmacy I do not use. When I began to ask how and why my Rx would have been transferred the pharmacists professional response was "too bad, call CVS I don't care" and hung up on me. I called CVS, naturally they have nothing. My guess is their people are stealing and selling our meds. read more

I'm sad to give a 3 star review because I've mostly had 4 1/2 star experiences at this location. This morning however, I went in to speak to the pharmacist because my allergies have been absolutely unbearable for a solid month. I've tried everything that you can buy off of the shelf for allergy relief with no help. I explained my allergy problems to the pharmacist and she told me to use regular Zyrtec and Flonase. She wouldn't sell me the Zyrtec D from behind the counter. I have no idea why. I have not purchased any of those products in about a year & I'm certainly not going to go all breaking bad and start making meth with 30 tablets of Zyrtec D. That pharmacist made me feel pretty lousy. read more

Walgreens Here is the short version: I have been filling our family's prescriptions at Walgreens in Simi Valley for almost three years because it is close to our home and pediatrician. I have learned the hard way to call ahead before bringing in my son's prescription for ADHD medication, to make sure they have it in stock. When I took the most recent prescription in, the "manager" came to the window and refused to fill it and began questioning me about who wrote the prescription (which is recommended by a specialist psychiatrist/MD that my son sees 3 times a year and prescribed by his lifelong pediatrician), when I asked why, after 3 years was the same prescription being questioned, he said "Oh, well now we have new policy to refuse prescriptions for this medication over a certain amount." He made it clear that Walgreen's didn't care if it meant that I would move all our prescriptions. Additional Information: The services have been uneven, ranging from polite and efficient to some incompetence, and occasional dismissive or rude attitude. After losing prescription coverage on our insurance, (very high deductible), we just pay in cash and deduct the cost in tax returns. My son's specialist doctor recommended joining GOOD RX and that really helped with the cost my son's ADHD medication. After that, Walgreens sometimes delayed filling the prescription because it is a controlled substance and they say they can only get so much at a time, so twice I have had to surrender the 3 month prescription for a 1 month supply. Reading between the lines, I figured out that they would rather fill prescriptions for customers who's insurance paid full price, even though they have a contract with GOOD RX. I dealt with this by calling ahead to ask if they have the medication in stock, and bringing a prescription for a two month supply instead. Conclusion: This was an outrageous and open refusal for no justifiable reason, to fill a longstanding medical prescription recommended by a specialist from Ventura County for a disabled child. I was turned away like I was a transient beggar, or criminal, instead of a 20 year resident of Simi Valley that pays through the roof property taxes, and buys 90% local. Walgreens clearly doesn't care about serving residents of the community it serves here in Simi Valley, it's priorities are being a profitable drone in the national Walgreens chain. read more

I have been going to Walgreens, specifically to this location, for the last couple of years but today I was totally disappointed. I called around 7:20 pm to check if they have the TDaP vaccine and I was treated very badly. The lady that answered the phone at the pharmacy said in a very rude manner that I better come sooner or not come at all because of the alleged "lockdown ordered by the governor" which she mentioned with uncertainty. She said people are not allowed to come out for non essential business, blah, blah. She asked me if I'm going to be around newborns to which I said no then she said I should get it at a much later time. She mentioned corona virus, I said I'm not calling about that, I was calling to check/get something unrelated to what she mentioned. I said I work at a hospital and I need to have the vaccine then she said again, "Can't they give it to you?" More exchange with a very rude temperament coming from the other line. I was so appalled at the obvious low mindedness of the person on the other line to think she should be professional and should've acted calmly; show leadership but instead she was purporting information she's not even sure if correct. And she hurried me to get off the phone. I called their other location at Moorpark and was treated in the same manner. I decided to call CVS nearby to check and the person who picked up was calm and nice so I went there instead and vowed to never go to any Walgreens again specially at this location. read more

I love this store! I don't know why those other people posted their critical reviews. I recommend you walk any aisle and you will see a clean and well-stocked impeccable array of merchandise. The store could not be cleaner and parking is totally convenient. My experience with the pharmacist was satisfying in all respects. I went in for a flu shot which Walgreens provided on behalf of the V.A. The pharmacy staff were affable and answered every question. Finally, please note I have no interest in Walgreens other than that of having been a customer as a young child as far back as the late 1940's. read more

I wish I could give zero stars. Dropped off my Rx, was told it will be ready in twenty minutes. I asked how much it would be but the pharmacists would not tell me until the prescription was ready. It took an hour and an half to finally get it ready. The final cost was $750 and they would not accept a coupon from manufacturer that was previously accepted by another Walgreens the year before. There is no way I can pay that much for migraine medicine. So I basically wasted two precious hours out of my day with nothing to show for it. Super angry with terrible customer service. I will never come back and am telling everyone that will listen about my experience. read more

This place is a total joke at this point! Every time we go to pick up a prescription we are told, "it is not ready" and need to come back for it "in about 20 minutes." EVERY SINGLE TIME, it's "20 minutes." If our prescription is submitted at 10AM and we come at 12 noon we're told, "it will be ready in about 20 minutes", if it was submitted at 2PM and we come at 6PM we're told, "it will be ready in about 20 minutes." Well, you're 20 minutes are up with me Walgreens! 20 minutes of MY TIME is worth more than the medicine! I'm finding a new pharmacy in Simi Valley. read more

Absolutely the worst pharmacy in Simi Valley. They lack customer service, compassion and compliance. Will be filing a complaint with the state board as well as my insurance company. They had ample time to obtain a medication which I requested for over a month when they tried to tell me the manufacturer discontinued it. Which was a lie! Long story short they don't want to order a pricy medication and get stuck paying for it so they try to "dear john" these customers because they can afford to NOT deal with you. We have come to fill a prescription many times here. The last 2 times the customer service had been horrible. We dropped on a prescription only to find hours later after all other pharmacies had been closed it couldn't be filled... we took it to another pharmacy, no problem. Again today we dropped off a prescription hours ago only to wait 25 minutes to be told the dose is too high and can't be filled.... again with 30 minutes before other pharmacies close. In either instance no one called us to inform us and they lacked knowledge and customer service. The dr. Prescribed this and all other pharmacies never have an issue... just this Walgreens. We will never be coming back here or any other Walgreens for anything. I am so disappointed in this company and the people they employ. read more

I wish I could give them 0 stars, but 1 will have to do. This pharmacy has given me more problems than any other I have ever dealt with. I let most things go because I honestly really value the benefits of the drive-thru (I have a condition that makes it hard to walk or stand for long periods of time) but my experience this past week has turned me off from them forever. My MD had called in a common antibiotic in the morning, and by the late afternoon I had not seen anything as "pending" on my online account. I called them to find out what was happening and they said it was out of stock and would have to order it. I understand that that happens frequently, but was no one going to notify me? Someone should have had the courtesy to call and tell me that so I wasn't just sitting around waiting. Then the next day when I went to pick it up in the late afternoon it still was not ready, even though I called a few hours earlier and they said it would be ready by then. To top it off, I get home and go to take my medication and realize they only gave me 5/7 pills. I bring it right back to them and all the pharmacist has to say is "sorry, we miscounted." Excuse me, what? That is unacceptable. If this had been a controlled substance, I definitely would have reported them. Then again, I wasn't surprised since it was coming from a pharmacist who refused to fill my medication for an off-label use just because he had never heard of the condition. I explained to him that there are no FDA-approved drugs for my condition, therefore all medications are considered off-label use but he just sent me away. At least hear me out, and maybe I could help inform you. Bottom line, very unprofessional pharmacy that will never have my business again. read more

Don't waste your time getting your prescriptions filled here. I changed doctors and had to speak to 4 different people before they finally figured out how to update it in their system......It took them a week. they kept calling me and telling me my doctor would not refill a prescription and every time I asked them which doctor they had the wrong doctor. I updated it every time and told them I had done so and they said they had no record of me speaking to anyone. Really?!?!?!?! I ended up having to have my doctor call in the prescription because they could not get their act together. Then one of ym prescriptions has a $70 copay because it's brand name. My awesome dermatologist gives me a discount card to make the copay only $10. They had a whole week to figure out how to make the discount card work I asked if since they did not know how to use their system and I gave them a full week if they could give me a few pills until they gould figure it out and they said I'd have to buy them for $40 a piece!!!! I have been visiting this pharmacy since they opened. This is no way to treat a customer with that type of hitory like that.....I even told him they could just deduct 2 pills out of the container when they got it to go through. But the pharmacist was soooo rude. I finally said forget them and paid the $70 but went elsewhere the next time where their phramacy staff was competent and I had no issues using the discount card. So save yourself some trouble and don't take your prescriptions here....you will leave frustrated. read more

Ok the man with the heavy accent who speaks minimal English should not be working the phones at the establishment. I was on the phone with him for what seemed like a hellish eternity with absolutely ZERO success in remedying my problem ( a simple prescription transfer!) I had to provide him with phone numbers and all kinds of information one would think I was doing the job for him! After hanging up with this idiot, I called the other pharmacy I wanted the medicine transferred to only to find that they received nothing and therefore all of the effort was completely in vain. I wish I could give this place zero stars until they get someone on the phone who can do their job correctly or honestly at all. read more

The store itself is fine. My low rating is in regards to the pharmacy at this location. I've been using Walgreens for a while and never had an issue until I moved to Simi Valley. The pharmacy here seems extremely disorganized and unmotivated to fill prescriptions in a timely manner. It doesn't seem to matter how long they have the prescription before you go to pick it up... You will always have to wait, almost as if they do absolutely nothing with the order until you go to pick it up. So far this has happened to me every time I've needed to pick up a new prescription, which is usually hours after my doctor has called/faxed it in. I could forgive this happening once or twice, but not every single time. It's certainly not the kind of service I have received from other locations, and is very disappointing to say the least. read more
