TOTAL incompetence. Went this afternoon to drive through to pick up a prescription that has been ready for a few days. I had 1/2 hour break to pick this up and I literally live two minutes away. There were three cars ahead of me, two of which took forever. My transaction should have taken one minute tops. I gave the girl my name and she left the window and disappeared for over five minutes. I had to lay on my horn to get her to come back. I had words with her about the wait and of course she pulled out the COVID excuse, like everyone does these days. Yeah sorry honey, it doesn't take that long to pick up a labeled package and hand it to the person who has been waiting now over 20 minutes. I was late getting back from my break. Totally inexcusable. If this was the first time this had happened that would be one thing, but this is their standard operating procedure. I'll be transferring my prescriptions to Costco. read more

Made an 11:00 am appointment with the pharmacy to receive my flu shot. I filled out the appointment form online assuming it would make the check in process easier. I arrived 10 minutes early and was relieved there was no line. There were at least 6 workers walking back and forth with no one acknowledging me while I stood there for 10 minutes. So much for saving time. Once the young lady finally asked me my information and figured out how to check me in with the assistance of another pharmacist, she told me to have a seat, and I will be called shortly as they are preparing my shot. 10 minutes went by and then 20 minutes. Now mind you there was maybe one or 2 people during this time picking up their prescription's. I finally asked what the holdup was, and I had to get back to work. Another pharmacist checked my information apologized and told me to wait just a little longer as the one I checked in with did it incorrectly. Nice huh. I waited 10 more minutes and finally gave up told them I'm leaving. Oh... she's almost ready for you she's preparing the shot. Bye. Went across the street to CVS. Was in and out in 10 minutes. Deleted my Walgreen's app on my phone which I have been a customer for years and installed the CVS app. I did receive a call from Walgreen's apologizing and offering me compensation. Forget it I'm never setting foot in Walgreens again. With all the smash and grabs hurting their business you figure they would take care of paying customers. Also, on the way out I said to the store manager what lousy service the pharmacy provided or didn't provide. He wouldn't even acknowledge or look at me. Not even an apology. Nobody in line. Nobody. Yet I had to seat and wait for a pharmacist to give me a shot for over half hour! Why? 3pm on a weekday and place is empty.. why do I have to wait? Going on a backpacking trip and needed a Yellow Fever vaccine... Walgreens is the only pharmacy in San Diego that gives this shot other than travel doctors. It doesn't $160 which is RIDICULOUSLY EXPENSIVE but what can I do? It actually cheaper than the travel clinics, which charge around $250. I suspect they use the test strips to fill other new orders and forgot that my order was not completed . They told me my prescription was put under miscellaneous. I had a really bad experience at the pharmacy today. This white chick with medium length blond hair, beady brown eyes, and a narrow face was the worst POS I've ever experienced at a pharmacy. She had on a white coat but I don't know if she was a pharmacist or a clerk or whatever. But she was the most condescending and rude bitch I've ever encountered. And as I was waiting for close to an hour for my pills I saw the manager on duty go up to their window two different times and yell at them for not answering the phone. I complained to the guy about that chick and he said, "I know the one you're talking about," so he already knew what a hack she was. Then as she was leaving she passed by me as I was sitting in their beat up chairs waiting for my pills, and I said "Aren't you going to apologize?" So she came back and got in my face and started yelling at me again, telling me I'm the most rude customer she's ever seen. So as I was leaving the manager was outside by Boston Market and he said he had reported her to the corporate office, so that was nice of him. Then as I was driving away I saw this chick in the parking lot pacing around frantically near the bank while talking wildly to someone on her phone. Worst experience. Made an order through their website with a guaranteed 2-day shipping through fedex. 30 days later, no sign of the package and it was located in Memphis 20 days ago according to the tracking number... I am in San Diego. Called their number and was on hold for 30 minutes until someone decided to cut my call. So, starting from zero. Their chat "service" online says there is a wait of 29 minutes for someone to assist you. Called again and selected the Spanish option. There was an option to leave a voicemail... you guessed it! Mailbox was full. I tried to contact Fedex but they said the sender has limitations on what they can share, so no luck there. WONT RECOMMEND ANYONE TO BUY FROM THEM... EVER read more

This Walgreens is very well-stocked and their shelves are clean and well-organized. This store carried a wide variety of seasonal items and a good selection of toys, not the obviously low quality toys carried by many other drugstores. I saw some Skylanders, Pokémon, and Doc McStuffins toys. Great place to buy those last-minute gifts and gift wrap to go along with it and you won't need to wait in a long line to checkout. read more

By far the WORST pharmacy ever! I give them and F- and 0 stars! Called 15 times and every time I was put on hold for 20-30 minutes and then they hung up on me. Same thing when I tried calling the store to speak to the store manager. They have also screwed up my prescription refills several times and not filled them at all and no notification was sent either not to mention having to wait 30-45 minutes in line to pick up a prescription as they only have one window open at the pharmacy. Avoid this horrible pathetic useless and incompetent pharmacy. I was forced to switch to Walgreens after my pharmacy closed down and now I called another branch of my former pharmacy to have my prescriptions transferred and thankfully they will take care of it. It is extremely rare for me to post reviews but this particular Walgreens pharmacy is the WORST and I want to spare others the pain, time wasted and aggravation they have caused me numerous times. I had called to have an Rx transferred as my local pharmacy was out of the medication I needed. Of course, when I arrived to pick it up - the incompetent staff had neglected to even contact the CVS for the transfer as promised and I was forced to wait another day for the medication. I went here on a Saturday night. It was the first time I had ever been to a Walgreens. This location has just been built so everything is shiny and new inside. I tried to go the Rite Aid across the street, but I guess Rite Aid feels it doesn't need to be open 24 hours. I was looking for Irish Creme and a 2 liter of Diet Dr. Pepper. I found the Diet Dr. Pepper, but no booze. Who would've thunk it? Walgreens does not carry booze. It has a gazillion Chia pets and no booze. My husband bought an Icee for 99 cents. For some reason, a store that has an Icee machine makes it magical. They sell Icees but not booze! When we went to pay, we got stuck behind this guy buying six tubes of toothpaste. At first I thought he was just getting a price check on something and that the cart next to him was just a bunch of returned items that needed to be restocked. Nope, the cart was his. This man was buying six tubes of toothpaste at 11:00 p.m. on a Saturday night. O.C.D. anyone? This story gets a little weirder. The toothpaste man lets us go ahead and pay because I guess he wanted to have a deeper discussion with the sales clerk about the price of toothpaste. As we were paying, I see a woman in her pajamas staring at us from outside the door. At first I questioned what her deal was and then realized that she may not be right in the head. Then I hear shouts from the street, "Hey, get a room! Get a room!" I assumed people were shouting at the couple in front of the Starbucks next door who were necking when my husband and I entered the Walgreens. After I left the Walgreens, I decided it would be best not to go to another store for some Irish Creme and to just go home. I had already had a strange Saturday night. read more

This is the worst pharmacy experience I have ever had! I recently signed up for Medicare part d and was looking at this store for my pharmacy. I use to get my meds from Costco but the are not a Medicare provider. I dropped off a prescription I needed that day on Monday about 1115 AM. They said 15 minutes. After 45 minutes, no prescription. I left and at 2:30 PM I called and the DROID said it was ready. I drove there, waited in line and guess what.. Not ready. They had to call the doctor. They had all this time to call doctor but waited till I was there. After 30 minutes I left. Told them I would get it the next day because I had appointment to review my meds with them. Got in line, got my meds and was told to have a seat for my 1000 appointment. Waited 15 minutes then gave up. Never will I ever go there again. read more

Well, my single star rating isn't about operations, it isn't about selection or location, or management. It's about the service at the pharmacy. Bottom line. A pharmacy counter gal asked if she could help. I gave her my prescription. She then told me to come back in an hour after she had lunch. No problem. I'll wait another hour. My bad. But wait for it. She then filled my order sent me a digital message that my order had been filled. As I turned around to walk back inside she literally closed up and ran. Ok. But here's the deal: she wouldn't have done that to her parents or a friend. If Walgreens wants a high service rating ANA THEY DO teach the pharmacy ladies to be thoughtful, kind and go the extra mile. There wasn't anyone waiting behind me. I like how late Walgreens is open until. It's good to know that I can still go there for some snacks or medicine or things of that sort late at night. The employees are pretty friendly and are always willing to help out whenever necessary. Ordering photos online to be printed in the store and picked up is so easy and convenient! It doesn't take them too long to print them out, and it's amazing at how awesome the quality of the photos are once they are printed out. If you're in need of a cheap, super soft, memory cushioned neck pillow for $10, Walgreens is the place to get it! I use my neck pillow from there every time I travel and it's lasted me quite some time now. It was definitely worth the investment. read more

Complete disregard for customer satisfaction. I dropped my prescription off, driving 25 minutes in traffic, for the pharmacy to tell me that the in store wait time for my prescription was an hour and a half. Being a travel nurse in several cities, I have never waited an hour and a half for a prescription. In fact, being a previous pharmacy tech, our in store wait time was 15 minutes, no matter what. He told me I should come back the following day, which requires yet another hour driving in traffic to get here and back, so I waited in the store. I will not be getting my prescription filled at a Walgreens again. This Walgreens, and this Walgreens alone, is the reason why Walgreens as a whole has lost a customer. Stopped in to get a free 8x10. Cant beat free :) Strolling around the store, found lots of clearance items at pretty decent prices. A little confusing in the actual "clearance" section as some of it isnt priced and its mixed it. We grabbed a thing of dog treats, got to the front and it was full price. this pharmacy is awful. the people working here are NO help. i've gotten my prescription filled here for years non stop and today they tell me i now have to pay $292 because my insurance is no longer covering refills and my insurance company has no idea what they're talking about. i ask questions and get attitude in return- and she walks away when i show frustration. on top of that i had already called to refill the prescription and it should've been ready but when i arrived it wasn't ready and i had to wait 30 minutes - and after it was filled THATS when she decided to tell me about the insurance. MAKE IT MAKE SENSE????? not to mention every single time i come here i wait 10-15 mins just to be helped. get it together. read more

The pharmacy WAS 24 hour but not anymore. Really not happy about that but, I'll live. What really bugs me though is that I have now twice asked for a cap I can actually open, I have issues with my hands. I've even seen one guy enter the information, but I still haven't gotten the right tops. I ordered 100$ worth of contacts off of walgreens.com, order arrived last Friday, went directly to the store to pick it up, spoke to 3 employees, 1 being the manager that night and no one was able to help me or check the status of my order nor could they "find the package". Spoke to corporate later that night they advised me to call again and ask to speak to the manager before placing another order. So Tuesday (today) I called, and bless Todd's soul. He was the manager today and went ABOVE AND BEYOND MY EXPECTATIONS. He heard my side of the story, understood my frustration, asked for my tracking number and name and said he'd call back soon. Literally, this man called me 10 mins later and solved all my problems. Found out where it was and the root of the problem. Todd I appreciate you and to the other manager that night, horrible. This location is convenient for me. In the years that I live in the Clairemont Area I have frequent this store time and time again. There are times were no one seems to be on the floor which can be hindering for questions being answered, but the cleanliness does make up for that. I used to come here all the time for Revoln, Milani, and some wet n wild make up. The one thing I have noticed is that Walgreens has killer coupons. I go here sometimes to just look around, and waste time when my Hubbs is next door ordering Boston Market. I also come here for the cards. read more

Walgreens - Getting prescription - Drugstores Near Me - San Diego, California

The pharmacy is open for a narrower range of hours for a Walgreens in a high traffic area. On top of that, they are often closed during lunch hours. Just not convenient. On three occasions they have not had in stock medicine in the last year. When asked where we could go, they had vague answers or none at all. In trying to fulfill prescriptions they are inconsistent. One time they will provide all the materials needed. Another they will claim they cannot (syringes). Getting it evolved can take days. Go inside as they take inside over drive through. Expect a wait as they are understaffed. read more

This rating is for the pharmacy, which would receive a negative star rating, if I could. First a pharmacy technician, then *the pharmacy manager herself* admitted that when a customer is on Medi-Cal and has a "share of cost" to fulfill (money they have to pay out before Medi-Cal takes over and covers the cost), they WILL NOT fill a presciption that is called in on the automated system because, (are you ready for it?) : "Those people won't pick up their prescriptions if they have to pay for them, and we don't have time to be filling prescriptions for people who won't pick them up". Wow. So a person on Medi-Care who has to pay a deductible of sorts (due to having more disposable income) *can't* use the automated phone system to refill a prescription at this Walgreens. They have to come in, stand in line, CONFIRM THAT THEY WANT TO PAY FOR AND PICK UP THEIR PRESCRIPTION, then wait around for it to be filled in order to be helped. Remember the Denny's scandal when certain out of state restaurants where requiring black people to pay up front because, "those people like to dine and dash"??? Is this any different??? ****UPDATE**** The day I posted this review I also wrote a letter to the President of Customer Experience for Walgreens, Alex Gourlay. I wanted him to know what I wrote and why. I expected nothing to come of that, but I actually got a phone call from Walgreens headquartes yesterday (5/29/14) apologizing to me for my poor experiences at this store, *thanking* me for letting them know about this situation, and informing me that the staff were being trained to keep this from happening again. Wow. I expected to be ignored, so that was a very pleasant surprise. I will continue to monitor the situation and update my review if service improves. read more

I came to fill my one prescription and I was the only customer at the pharmacy counter and no one at the drive thru. No staff was readily seen at the line. After 5 mins, I was finally greeted and Pharm tech told me to wait a bit. That Pharm tech then resumed using the computer and chatting with the other staff about non pharmacy related things. After waiting an additional 15 mins. it was that same tech that actually asked me how many can I help?! I became confused and a bit upset but did not lose face. After the transaction was complete I told myself that I don't want to come to this pharmacy any longer. I also work in the medical field and great customer service starts by simply being acknowledged right when you walk in and with some sort of direction of what is going on. The executive assistant manager here is horrible! I had a 20 free print coupon for photos and I only printed 15. He told me that i couldn't print my pictures because I need 20 but there was no where on the coupon that stated I have to print 20. He said that "we assume customers will print 20, not under" what the hell? that doesn't make sense... I'm printing under.. he told me i can just cancel it if i don't want it. i keep asking him where does it state on the coupon? and he just kept ignoring my question. I like this store. Compared to CVS and Rite Aid, this one wins hands down. First let's touch on the pharmacy. If you take in a prescription, the wait is short especially compared to lousy CVS across the street. I have had several issues with my prescription insurance which just happens to be CVS Caremark. The clerks at the Walgreens pharmacy have had to call several times and get approval. Will they do that over at CVS or Rite Aid? Nope. It's strictly a "do it yourself" over at the others. I've really appreciated the courtesy from the pharmacy clerks. I also get my vaccinations there and that is very convenient. They also have a drive up window for pick up and drop off. As for the general merchandise, it's great if it's on sale. What pisses me off is to go to a store and they've advertised something and don't have it. That has happened more times than not at CVS, a few times at Rite Aid. Never had it happen at Walgreens and I've even gone on the last day of the sale. I'm only talking about the Balboa location as I've yet to go into any of the others in San Diego. The store is always well stocked and clean if not a bit cluttered with the usual junk that doesn't really belong in a drug store. They get knocked down one star because they don't carry liquor. What would a drugstore be if they don't carry booze, cigarettes, and tons of candy, not to mention the "As seen on TV" garbage? Hey, it's all about your health, right?
