Wow! What a terrible, horrible experience with their drive through. I called in the prescriptions at 12:37pm. I was told the prescriptions would be ready after 2pm. I arrived at 1:58pm at the drive thru window. I was told to wait. Ok, I will wait. After 5 minutes of waiting, the female worker came up to the window. I gave her the name, and date of birth. And then the uttermost ridiculous thing happened next. I was told to drive out, and get to the end of the line. Why? I was here first. She said " your prescriptions are not ready. Drive forward so I can help the next customer, and by the time you come back around, your order will be ready." WTF??!!! WHO IN THEIR RIGHT MINDS WOULD THAT????? I definitely liked this location. It's on a busy street and there's parking around this Walgreens. We needed to pick up body wash and a few clearance items. I found fleece leggings for $2.99 which was a steal. I ended up looking at their makeup. They carry a wide variety of brands. I definitely liked that. So much to choose from. If you have a membership here, you get the discounted prices here. Shopping was easy here. It's very clean and my daughter needed to use the restroom. No code in the back. She could sense that I was frustrated, tired, and exhausted. And the way that she was able to handle her customer service with me Was absolutely phenomenal. We switched months ago from Rite Aid when it closed to Walgreens on Balboa. Prices seem substantially higher. But the most problems have been with the pharmacy. The lines are long, the wait to be served is long. Once at the window, it's still slow. Four times now the pharmacy has told us our prescription for insulin is ready, but when we get there, they are "out" of insulin. Yesterday the pharmacy said it was ready, but when we called back today, they were out of insulin. And when they do have it, they provide only a tiny amount instead of what we used to get. The staff are friendly, but the pharmacy is understaffed and overwhelmed. Even the drive-up is slow. Want good service? Go elsewhere. read more

The pharmacy is severely under staffed and therefore there are long wait times. It's also impossible to talk to someone on the phone ahead of time to verify that the prescriptions are ready or not. People here are not very understanding when waiting for prescriptions and while waiting I witnessed multiple people yell at the pharmacy tech working the counter. She had to explain that despite their individual circumstances, medicines were not going to magically be ready immediately. Do yourself a favor and go to another pharmacy. I'm giving one star for the tech at the front desk being very nice and patient despite what she had to put up with from customers! read more

I only write this review because this happened a couple of times. She is very good at ignoring people, and if you ask her for any help, she made sure that you know you are troubling her big time. Jess...is the most unprofessional and rude customer service associate I've ever encountered. She needs an attitude adjustment. She really needs to watch her tone and the way she talks to people. I was there to pick up business cards they didn't print them for me please they came out blurry but I was notified they were ready for pick up. I didn't receive a call or email about my order being blurry. I drove to this location because it offered same day pick up. I came in to get the Tdap vaccine at the pharmacy. The people working at the pharmacy were incredibly rude to patients in the rare case they interacted with them. Mostly they only spoke to each other or looked away in silence, leaving all of us confused on if we were being heard. While I was waiting for my shot the head pharmacist said very loudly for everyone to hear, "DID THEY SEND A MASS TEXT OUT TO EVERYONE TELLING THEM TO COME PICK UP THEIR SHIT?!" It was so uncomfortable and inappropriate. When I finally was called to get my shot, the woman barked one word orders at me (sit, turn, which arm) then didn't speak to me before overhand stabbing my arm with the needle. It was very rough and painful. She never looked at me again, just bent down and said, "done," before walking away. I now have SIRVA which has never happened to me before and I can't help but think she did this by being careless and irritated at work. I can't move my left arm and shoulder without severe pain and it's been three days. It's not tender or sore; it's immobile. I will NEVER go here again and you shouldn't either for anything pharmacy related. read more

I went in to pick up post surgery pain meds for my sister. Rite Aid closed and without consent all her information was sent to Walgreens after waiting over an hour for her meds to be prepared ( I was told it would be 15 minutes) the counter girl told me Walgreens doesn't take my sisters insurance....WHAT? Why do you Walgreens have her information? No offer to send it to another pharmacy? Offer a gift card for the inconvenience?? I called to speak to the store manager and big surprise there is no store manager fir this entire Memorial Day weekend ( largest holiday in America) and the entire store was left in the care of a shift leader who 1) knows nothing about the pharmacy 2) and I also had to school him on customer service. Wow for a huge chain like Walgreens to mis handle a new potential customer and shat on the opportunity to gain new customer loyalty they sure revealed that that customer care is not a priority. read more

Besides the slow line at the pharmacy, I never experienced poor customer service until today. As usual 3 or 4 pharmacists busy working and 1 cashier helping customers. Today this girl decided she could open another window and help me. I picked up a prescription and I had a medication off the shelf I wanted to purchase as well. I also need a medication that was behind the counter only, so I asked for that. She was rude the whole time like she was doing me a favor and I was asking too much of her. By the end she just shoved my stuff toward me and answered the phone.. I asked for a bag she set one on top of my stuff which was still behind the plexi glass out of reach. I had to ask her to shove my stuff closer to me so I could bag it up. She shouldn't be working there, especially not the pharmacy.. I will be transferring my prescriptions to the CVS across the street in the Vons shopping center. They have excellent customer service and faster lines! read more

Rarely do you run into such a mismanaged, unorganized, pathetic pharmacy as the one here. As is mentioned in other reviews, "what a nightmare of a pharmacy." Since the Rite Aid across the street closed, we had the glaring misfortune to have our prescriptions moved to Walgreen$. Just today 11/16/22 at about 3:30 I tried once again to call them. After I was on hold for 20 minutes, they hung up on me. So I tried again. Another 20+ minutes on hold (I am not exaggerating) during which time I could hear them pick up the phone and then put me back on hold again - they hung up on me again. On try #3 I was back on hold for about another 20 minutes, someone answered. When I started to tell the person on the phone about what I just went through, he got surly about it! He said they have "problems" with their phone system. That may have been an excuse if I had not had the exact same issues with them ever since our prescriptions were involuntarily moved there. He went on to say they are also understaffed. That, I believed. It turns out that they have been trying to text our home phone, or at least that was his claim. When I told him that and tried to give him my cell that is able to receive texts he informed me that he could not change the number. When I went online to try and change it, their terrible webpage would not let me add my cell as primary contact. As to their accuracy in filling prescriptions in a timely manner is terrible. For one of mine that I was told was ready was not. That caused me to stand in their pharmacy line for a long time. Like others said, they take about 5 - 10 minutes per customer so standing in line takes a while. There are no chairs for people like me to wait and I have a disability and am 76 years old - sometimes the youngest one there. Yet after the wait, I was informed that the prescription was not ready - what? They gave no reason, just it was not ready but should be in two more days. I could go on, but you get the drift. They have a terrible phone system, they are constantly understaffed, their accuracy of correct information is questionable, the lines are ridiculous, their webpage is a mess and - clearly - their management just does not care. Walgreen$ makes its money either way. I do not recommend this Walgreen$ and urge you to go anywhere else. We will move our account down to the Rite Aid on Clairemont Dr., even though it is further from our house. read more

This pharmacy is an absolute DISGRACE. I walked in, 8 females were visible working in the pharmacy. One was texting and one was talking about her personal life. I said excuse me 3 times before one rudely looked up and said," we'll be right with you" and continued on. My prescription wasn't ready so today I tried to call them because I won't waste my time going back there if I don't have to, and I have been on "hold" for over two hours. I would describe this location of Walgreens as perfectly average. It is conveniently at corner of Genesee and Balboa so it is easy to access. This area/neighborhood has a lot of retail spots so it's nice to stop here if you're spending a morning or afternoon running errands. The parking is easy - there is almost always close spots available. The store is typically well stocked and staff are nice when you check out. If you're looking for a pharmacy, I would recommend using the one at this location. The staff are attentive and answer all my questions well. The drive thru for the pharmacy sometimes takes a bit longer so I choose to go inside the store, instead of waiting a few extra minutes. They are doing COVID vaccines at this location so it is busier now than it has been in the past. read more

Well First I came here to the Balboa Location and when you walk in it kind of reminds me of Rite Aid Or CVS But more of an Rite Aid . It gives you that feeling and store is kind of empty not much Customers shopping. When I walk in The Service here is Not as Good !! No Greeting or Acknowledgement of you in store and two workers were putting things away and did not ask me if I needed any help !! Oh I have to say service needs big time improvement !! But Walgreens sells lots of the same stuff as CVS and Rite Aid !! But I just come here for the Toy Selection they have it is not bad at All !! Or if your in a hurry and need to pick up anything where other stores are close then you might want to consider coming here to shop !! Other then that this is your typical Convince Store !! The Parking can be tight sometimes but most of the time it is ok !! It is located near A Starbucks on Balboa Ave !! Right next to Boston Market !! Overall I give it 2 out of 5 Stars Because Of Service which is always important !! Good Service brings back Customers !! But I shall return to just look at what Toys they have here !! The absolute WORST pharmacy! There is typically only one person working the register AND the drive through. Expect to wait at least 20-40 min in line every time. There are always inconsistencies with the app and it will say your prescriptions are ready and they are not. I have been patient enough with this pharmacy and will now be switching to another pharmacy. read more

Getting meds from this pharmacy is impossible. Every new script has issues going through insurance (even though my insurance contracts walgreens for pharmacy services) and the only call I get is saying there's an issue- no details or attempts to resolve. The line is always a 30 minute wait with three windows open. If you have to go here, just go to CVS instead. read more

I usually go to CVS, but I had to go to Walgreens because it seemed like the only place that had the Ove Glove in stock. (It was for my husband's 5th day of Christmas present...get it, 5 fingers for day 5). Anyway, when I asked for help in finding the Ove Glove, an associate pointed me to the correct aisle and she even walked by later to make sure that I found it. During checkout, I was asked if I wanted to sign up for a Walgreens card, but declined since I don't ever shop there. After I paid, I realized that the sale price of the Ove Glove is only for card members, so I asked the sales associate (same one that helped me find the Ove Glove) if it was on sale. She quickly signed me up for the card (which you can opt for cardless, just give them your number at checkout) and refunded me the amount that I paid over the sales price. She was very friendly and didn't mind at all in signing me up after I had initially declined. Although I don't shop at Walgreens regularly, I might do so now more often because of the great customer service in the store. read more

I've tried calling the pharmacy on three separate occasions to deal with an issue with a prescription and each time, I'm on hold for an hour before they disconnect me. No other way for me to figure out what they need to resolve aside from going into the pharmacy. Kind of don't want to drive out there for them to tell me they can't resolve it. I like that this location is open 24/7. It's a great place to go if you need anything in a flash. Problem, is that the prices are marked extremely high on a lot of items, it appears. Pretty much higher than any other drugstore I've been to. The clearance items, however, are always nice, and they have a plethora throughout the entire store on any given day. I generally don't come here unless I need something from this particular store. Otherwise, I go to CVS across the street to use the pharmacist since theirs in 24/7. Walgreen's pharmacy closes early. The store could be more stocked, but seems to have everything you would need. As a plus, the associates are always friendly and approachable, walking around the store, greeting you, and asking if you need help with anything. Lastly, the bathroom is always open, no need to ask for a key or code. CVS's bathroom closes around 9PM and they wont open it back up for any customer. read more
