Worst customer experience ever. I have been a customer to various Walgreens all around SF Bay Area for decades and never encountered anything like this. Came to pick up printed photo work and the staff just left me waiting for 50 min...first they took 15 min to figure out what exactly to look for because of their minimal English (asked me to write down my name on paper and even read it upside down; can't even enter phone number correctly in the computer cuz they can't understand what I said; kept on looking into piles of regular sized/ rolled paper prints while I mentioned I have large wood panel prints).... After not being able to find my print work, they just let me waiting while serving other customers, instead of refunding me. Yes they ignored me for 30 min. Everyone in the line were frustrated too. Very rude attitude too. One guy who seems to know a bit more English even said they have no manager, when I asked for the manager. He literally just told everyone this shop is just run like this . I went to Walgreens to pick up a pair of sunglasses I ordered online. I got to the pick up counter which is at the photo counter. A man was helping a woman with the photo print machine and said he would be right with me. He sat in the chair and typed the woman's info into the computer with one hand and scratched the bottom of his foot with the other. He had his shoe and sock half off and scratching the bottom of his foot! After, that he did the same with the other foot! He eventually came to help me and reached for my phone to see the order number and needless to say I told him I would rather he not handle it! So no one could find my order. The foot scratching man (who claimed to be a manager) told me he had no record of my order and even showed me his little hand held device that had all the orders and names. Guess what I saw??? MY NAME AND ORDER NUMBER!! This was a very long and drawn out situation so I will end this here. In the end I had to go out on the floor and find my glasses on the rack. Couldn't get much worse. Thought I'd be clever and use the Walgreens app delivery function to have this pharmacy deliver with a 2 day delivery time. 3 day go by and I'm seeing "ready to ship". 3 days after that I call to find out what's going on: pharmacist apologized that the the "medicine has been sitting waiting to be picked up by fedex people but sorry they are really short staffed". Doesn't make sense since FedEx is reliable so I assume she is saying Walgreens is short staffed. I guess we can only blame Walgreens management here. Why bother having a pharmacy at all? Their pharmacy is incredibly slow, under staffed, and seemingly incompetent. Sometimes they offer delivery which is a life saver. I don't know if the problem lies with Walgreens at the corporate level or with the management of this particular pharmacy. I hate coming here and avoid it like the plague. Um, run, don't walk away from this location. Having an asthma flare up requires prompt attention. I was told the Rx would be available tomorrow but explained i am having an attack- "ok, 90 mins." So i go there at 105 mins and am first in drive thru. Had to wait 20 mins for them to get to me, then after 10-15 more mins i am told it's not ready- come back in 20-25 mins. I explained that asthma is no joke, i've been a multi decade customer of this location, didn't matter... they told me to get out of the line and wait for a text (no, i don't want a text, don't want robocalls, or selling my info and making call screening even harder). The text came 5 mibs later but unlike the next drive thru people i was made to vacate and enter the store to wait another 25-30 mins to receive the med (which took all of 20 seconds). They asked for my cell again for confirmation but the keypad isn't working for nums 3,6,9. I asked how can i avoid this in future and basically was told to scram. No apologies, acknowledgement nor even comprehending why prompt albuterol isn't an optional thing. The staff is at least mild mannered as they deliver this abysmal service, due mainly to systems, I suspect. They are open 24 hours and i will Never come back unless it is after hours. All it would've taken was an apology and answer to my question of how to avoid it taking 2x the promised time and multiple different queues to get a needed med that could, and will someday, land people in the hospital. I'm not a lawsuit type of guy but they are seemingly begging for it. Growth imperative won't serve as an excuse for inducing ER visits and, well, SHAME on you, another completely customer hating corporation that deserves to be Out Of Business. Here from out of town for a procedure for my daughter at Stanford Medical center. Her sent or called in a prescription at 6:30 pm that he wants her to have tonight...so I showed up at 8 pm thinking they'd have it ready. Still waiting 40 minutes later and they close in 20 min. The poor clerk is doing such a great job working her tail off and even urging the pharmacist to work faster because there are like 3 out of 6 of us who have been waiting a long time. I even tried to explain that my daughter is alone in our hotel and it would be nice if they could hurry please. Don't use this pharmacy unless you're desperately out of other choices. I use the drive through pharmacy to pick up prescriptions. It is always at least half an hour and that's if you are the third car or closer. They used to make customers with new prescriptions drop off and drive around and wait to pick up. I was the 5th car 45 minutes ago and I've moved up one space. They have a huge dumpster so you can't get out. read more

While this Walgreens location is consistently understaffed, the staff are always friendly, helpful and doing their absolute best to serve its customers. The store is organized, clean, well stocked and inventory is always plentiful. I'm really sorry for for the pharmacy staff on the afternoon of Wednesday 4/12/2023. There were two incredibly belligerent and rude customers in line in front of me at the pharmacy counter on Wednesday 4/12/2023. These two senior citizens (separate parties) were yelling, shouting expletives and profanity and cursing at the pharmacy staff, and belittling them to the ground. I was absolutely appalled. The pharmacy staff (three of them) handled the situation with grace and professionalism. Yes, there was about a 30 minute wait time, but it's no reason to be a terrible human being. Walgreens, please ramp up store location staffing and take care of valuable employees. I only write this so executives are aware of what happened in the store on this day. I want to start out by acknowledging that I rarely give negative reviews, but the blatant disregard for any customer service at this Walgreens Pharmacy is worthy of it. I have repeatedly been left with no service at the drive through window and the line inside. Most recently I was in line at the drive through at 6:55 am with only one person in front of me. The poor person must have been waiting a while, after 10 minutes of me behind him, the customer just left. I pulled up and waited about 5 minutes then pressed the call button. Here's how it went: Me: Hi, I've been waiting for quite a while and the person in front of me finally gave up. Is this drive through open? Pharmacist helper: I'll be there as soon as I can.... 10 minutes later i started to get annoyed after waiting for 25 minutes! So I press the call button and now I am getting upset. Me: Excuse me, I've been waiting in line for an inordinate amount of time and there are people behind me waiting too. If you're not going to service this line and not inform anyone of the time delays, close the line. Pharmacist helper: We're short staffed, man. People usually just come in if we never get to them in line. Then I let the person know it is not okay to just left people wait indefinitely without any communication or apologies. Close the drive through line and get more help. This is the WORST pharmacy I've ever been to and am now choosing to drive further to ironically save time. I have shopped at the San Carlos Walgreen's for years. I have received courteous service at each visit. Since many items have now had to be put behind lock and key b/c of thievery, it is sometimes difficult to get a staff member to help. More staff is needed because of thieves. I haven't used the pharmacy often, but when it was needed, my order was completed in a timely manner. Since COVID and testing and vaccinations have been added to their daily schedule, they have done the best they can with the added work burden. One suggestion: The auto line for pharmacy pickups impedes the entrance/exit to the parking lot sometimes blocking entry. If COVID testing is being given there, maybe it shouldn't be. read more

AS I told her my Mom's pharmacy is "CLOSED" which is why I called the Pharmacist at a 24 hour Wallgreens pharmacy. If you hate your job change it. I've been coming here over 10 years, it's very sad to see what this Walgreens has become the worst and very disrespectful. They are very slow, under staff, rude, employees are overwhelmed and overworked. Medications not put in the proper place. Employee's can't find medication. Pharmaceuticals tell customers prescription are delayed or insurance doesn't cover it. You should pay out of pocket and deal with the Insurance yourself if you want your medication. People be careful and call your insurance and check with them before you pay anything to Wallgreens. Do Not Pay a dime out of pocket to Wallgreens. Because in reality the insurance does cover it, Walgreens does not put it through the insurance. It's all a scam. Don't let Wallgreens take your money. One lady in the pharmaceutical called me a crazy lady, just because I demanded my prescription to be able to take to another pharmacy and said no to me. Than they told me they were delayed and did not have it. How can you tell someone who needs the medicine to treat an illness to wait. When Wallgreens failed to order it the day before and should of had it by 10am the next day when I tried picking up my medication. As of today I do not have my medication. I had to call my doctor to send it to another pharmacy which they did and finally I will get it in the morning at another pharmacy. The employees at this Walgreens are really RUDE and not nice to seniors. The review from SY here makes me laugh. I have come here several time and it just keeps getting worse over the years. When they brought all the employees form the store it was unpleasant. I normally just order online and pick up but they always cancel my order because they claim the item is not in stock I go in person and all the items are there it's really frustrating. I started shopping elsewhere but today I need some items this store had I went in and I was very displeased with what I saw. Today I witness an employee (a manger to be exact) show anything but kindness to an elderly lady. I was very annoyed with how she treated her the customer was asking the manager for assistance to help grab something she is unable to grab and she refused to grab it for her and told her it's there you can grab it. It's common sense right if the customer is asking for assistance the kind thing to do is assist them. The lady asked again and she proceeded to walk away and i went to assist the customer and I proceeded to let the manager know what she did reflects bad on Walgreens and this reflects badly on the type of person you are because one day you will be her age needing assistance and I hope that person is kind to you unlike what your are being to this lady. You should be ashamed of yourself. She Rolled her eyes and continues to walk away I don't know her name as her badge wasn't visible. Horrible horrible horrible horrible. DO NOT come to this pharmacy. Most incompetent management and people working here. I thought it was bad before a few weeks ago when they used to be open 24 hrs, but now it's SO MUCH WORSE. Despite Google still saying they are open 24 hrs a day (which, by the way, is the businesses responsibility to update when hours change), apparently a couple of weeks ago this store changed its hours to be open only until 9:30pm. They did not send any kind of notification (like through their sms system they could have easily leveraged) to their customers to inform them of this significant change in operating hours. Many people (like myself) only found out about this on accident. On top of this, they randomly closed their drive through line forcing everyone to wait in a line inside that wrapped around the inner perimeter of the building. When I and other customers got here at 9;10pm (20min before their new closing time), the manager told us that the "line is closed." (Apparently the manager hand wrote numbers on scraps of paper and handed them to every customer in like who was able to make the cut and get their prescriptions, and everyone else was out of luck). A woman behind me said that this was her fourth time trying to get her prescription within the last 2 days. I had to go beg the pharm manager and ask if she could please allow me to pick up my refill. She reluctantly agreed when I told her the risk of me not getting my medication is having a seizure. All the customers were complaining and saying they should say their hours are 9pm if they will stop giving numbers out at 9pm. Instead of being applogetic or understanding to customers, the staff got nasty and defensive in response to customer complaints. I mean, I would get tired of all the customers complaining too, but if EVERYONE is experiencing issues, then that means it's a management/systems incompetence they should own and address for their customers rather than rude about. The best part: when I finally got to the counter to ask for my scrip, the lady said: "oh, I think we deleted your prescription because it took you too long to get it." Umm.. what!???? Turns out they didn't and my scrip was ready to be picked up, but this is just another detail illustrating staff incompetence that impacted the overall customer experience. Most people I know switched from this pharmacy a long time ago. It's not just a poor customer experience they're giving people-- the incompetence of this pharmacy literally puts people's health and safety at risk. I also saw a woman in tears because the pharmacist said that "no one had the key" to access her prescription. This is completely unacceptable. I don't understand why this pharmacy is soooo bad and just keeps getting worse. I'm definitely switching. I've had enough. read more

This Walgreens pharmacy has very little quality control. Even though there were six people working on shift, they could not manage to be efficient enough to handle 5pm rush. On average there are 10 people in line at all times. 6/10 is 1.6 patients for every 1 person and they STILL cannot get it together. This is only so popular because they are 24 hours. I placed a prescription refill order online via their app. I chose the 1-2 days free delivery (it is an option - why not?). 10 days later, I haven't heard from them, haven't received my prescription. I called them (and don't even want to talk about the nightmare to reach someone in the pharmacy department) and learnt that it wasn't even process (???). What are you waiting to let me know that there is a problem??????? Same day. My daughter is sick and needs antibiotics. I called regularly - the prescription was in process. 4 hours later, I decided to call them to talk to someone directly. Same nightmare to reach someone in the pharmacy department. I finally learnt that the antibiotics was out of stock. They don't have it. What were you waiting to let me know?????????? If I don't call, how long do I have to wait??? Then I've been asked to call CVS to check if they have it. Etc etc etc. Do your job!!!! Why do I have to call them? Why don't you take care of it???? Your automatic answer was saying that the prescription was in process not out of stock. They have only 1.5 star. Obviously they don't care because they don't do anything to offer a better service. Worst pharmacy and corporate system ever! I had a common prescription called into the pharmacy on 6/27. I waited in line over 45 minutes to pick it up only to be told it was not in stock and too late in day to order so prescription wouldn't be ordered until Tuesday and I could pick up on Wednesday. The automated system slow, finally received automated notice prescription in progress but not ready till Thursday. I tried to reach a live person in the pharmacy only to be put on hold for 45 minutes and then had the call disconnected. Repeat above on Thursday. Repeat again today (5 days later!) and finally reached a technician who was able to tell me the prescription out of stock. Right before the 4th of July weekend. I do not fault the actual pharmacists or pharmacy techs. This is the fault of a poor computer system and procedures. Walgreens - you need a major overhaul of your system! read more
