Normally I would wait and see how I like a provider over time before writing a review, but I have…read morehad such a great experience with this one already so far, that I just had to Yelp about it. First, let me say that I have seen a few dermatologists in the past 6 years trying to resolve a frustrating skin condition. It has been agonizing paying for and trying dozens of different prescriptions to no avail. And trying to find a good Dermatologist who will listen seemed like a losing battle after reading all the Yelp reviews! A lot of them seem to be just in it for the cosmetic side, which brings them the most money. That was the experience I had with the last one I saw, and I had just about given up when I read about North Metro on Yelp. I decided to send an email to this provider and 5 others asking about how they treat my condition. 4 out of 6 emails garnered some type of lame sales pitch or form letter response. Only this provider and one other (Pinnacle) actually showed concern and reached out and asked questions, asking what I had tried and seemed genuinely wanting to help. I was so impressed with Lindsey, the medical assistant who emailed and talked to me, that I decided to schedule an appointment with Dr. Long. The jury is still out as far as my skin condition goes, but after my appointment yesterday, I have a new treatment plan that I felt part of designing, and most importantly I have HOPE for the first time in a long time. I even thought of more questions after I left, and was able to get them answered by email. I will be updating this review as treatment progresses.

(Though it is better than the way it was when I was young.) I have been seeing Dr. Rahil for a while now. I think it would be a year soon coming up this December. What I like about Dr. Rahil is she is very personable and understanding. She listens to what you have to say, with your experiences with acne med's, needs and/or wants. An example is when doctors recommend that I take Accutane, which I am strongly against, and I generally have to fight and fight them about it. I understand, that yes, I may not have issues when it comes to having to see the Dermatologist and using prescriptions and medications on my face. However, for me and what I know, I would rather do that than take Accutane. Since seeing her my acne has gotten better. We are trying a different treatment regime than what I have used before and it looks as if things are hopefully going to get better. I have had Dr. Rahil treat a keloid that I had on my left shoulder. No issues there or anything. Lastly, I have been seeing their on site esthetician, Natalie, for a while now when it comes to make up and laser hair removal. Natalie is great, and their products, exclusively at NMD, are great as well. I have been using their face cream for a while now and I prefer that compared to Aveeno Positively Radiant, which I was using for awhile. Their laser hair removal was a breeze, only been through one treatment, however I like it. Don't worry it doesn't hurt like how you think it should, barely hurts at all.

I called and asked the stupid AI answering machine to give me a update, but it just said it wasn't ready and I had to pretty much yell at it until it got me a real person. The lady I talked to answered with a pleasant voice and everything, just asked for my name. I told her and she said there was a problem because the doctor, while licensed to practice in MN, MA wouldn't pay for it. Now, I just wanted a minute to explain my situation a bit. I only just got MA coverage a couple months ago. Since then I have been using sesame to get appointments for prescription refills because I have social anxiety and need the meds to be able to work and drive. I'd just pay for it all out of pocket. Not being used to suddenly having health coverage, I dragged my feet finding a health provider, and realized I needed a new script at the last minute. I paid for the sesame appointment because I knew I had to get this done now. I would get really sick and have terrible episodes of anxiety if i didn't. I was willing to pay out of pocket for the prescription itself. But the pharmacist didn't allow me to say ANY of this. The second I asked if I could just a have a moment to explain what's going on, she SCOFFED. She didn't even suggest that I could pay out of pocket if I wanted to. She just wanted me to get a new doctor and a new appointment, which would have taken days. I didn't even get to explain that I didn't have days. I have no more pills. The anxiety I will have to face without them will make it 100x harder to even get me out of the house. When she scoffed and made it clear that she wasn't going to help in the slightest, I asked to take this to a different pharmacy. But she can't send it in herself (which I know is crap, I've had pharamacy's send a script before). I had to call a different one, have them request it, then they would send it. Becuase they have already been SO cooperative, I am sure they are gonna get to that request as soon as costco makes it. Anyway, at the end of the day, these people don't want to talk to you. They don't want to help you. If the AI answering machine can't fix it for you, they don't care.

I saw multiple dentists who told me my only option was veneers and often made me feel ashamed for being so young with teeth in such poor condition. It led me to feeling even more discouraged and it actually made my brushing habits worse because I felt embarrassed and hopeless about improving my teeth. But when I started seeing Dr. Horn, I never once felt that way. From the beginning, she made me feel supported and understood. She's been willing to work with me every step of the way and thoughtfully curated a treatment plan, that didn't include veneers! During my initial consult, we reviewed the photos they took of my teeth, and she had me point out which specific teeth I wanted her to focus on. She made it clear that I didn't have to commit to anything beyond what I was comfortable with, whether that was personally or financially, and that the plan could be tailored to my priorities. For my actual appointment, they offered me luxurious amenities from an entire menu! l got the heated neck pillow and headphones with cable TV, and they even surprised me with a smoothie afterwards! Dr. Horn also made sure to prep my lips with lip balm before starting anything, which was such a thoughtful touch and made the whole experience feel comfortable and genuinely caring. The results from my first appointment have been incredible and far exceeded any expectations I had. I remember saying during my initial consult that I just hoped to lessen some of the staining as much as possible, but it truly feels like it's almost entirely gone. I feel so happy and giddy when I look in the mirror now. I truly cannot recommend Dr. Horn and her team enough. Not only did they completely transform my smile, but they also transformed the way I feel about myself. For the first time in years, I feel confident, excited, and genuinely happy when I look in the mirror. If you've ever felt discouraged or embarrassed about your teeth, please know there are providers like Dr. Horn who will meet you with compassion, not judgment. I am so grateful I found her.

Dr. Gorman and his staff have always been very understanding and have catered to my mistrust from bad experiences, and he's extremely knowledgable when it comes to recommendations on what you actually need. They have EVERYTHING, and the staff is friendly & knowledgeable. I found out about Norcostco last year, when we had a pre-performance makeup emergency: The online retailer I'd ordered from took its sweet time to process the order and then chose "molasses in January" shipping, so I was in a blind panic the night before the show. After 2648395 rounds of internet searches & follow-up phone calls looking for one highly specific Ben Nye product, I found Norcostco -- and they're RIGHT HERE! An independent, local business that has All The Things! (I mean, they're not exactly "right here" for us -- I have to drive across the whole #%&! metro to get there -- but it's *so* worth the trip. You can see the products, use the testers, play around, and walk out with what you need. Fantastic!)

I had been wanting to test out the Ben Nye make up line and was happy to learn a few months back…read morethat they carried it. They actually tons of theatrical makeup and costumes. Finding the place can be challenging since it's on a residential block (unexpected) and the store front doesn't face the street. However I did a bit of research on google maps beforehand and checked out the street view, which helped. Upon entering the woman at the register didn't bother to look up, say hello, smile or acknowledge that someone had walked in. Therefore I figured it was the kind of place where you fend for yourself and headed straight to the makeup section. BIG MISTAKE! About 5 minutes later another women appeared out of nowhere and in a frustrated tone wanted to know what we needed and more importantly if we opened any of the items. She then told us we should have rang "the bell" for help. Keep in mind there wasn't a bell in the area or a sign instructing to do so. Anyway after smoothing things over she showed us where the test makeup and brushes were located (several feet from the display.) It was a rather small section with a polly-pocket sized mirror and bad lighting. The employee helped us with the items and answered questions we had in a more polite/cordial tone. However, due to the lighting and mirror issue my friend and I were constantly having to go back to the costume section where there was a full length mirror and better lighting. Ultimately, we left with a few items (would have been more if we could tell how the colors actually looked against our skin). My tips for you are: 1) Use your GPS or checkout a street view of the place if it's your first time visiting and you're unfamiliar with the area. 2) RING THE BELL (located at the front register). 3) Bring your own mirror and lights. Just kidding! But seriously don't rely on the ones in the testing section, just check yourself out in the mirror by the costumes. 4) If you can, do research beforehand to determine which products you're interested in b/c they're are several options. Otherwise, just be sure to allow ample time so you can test out the items and find your match. 5) Skip the pricey department store makeup and try the items here (I can only vouch for Ben Nye) which cost far less, are of good quality and made to withstand heat/lights/etc.
