It usually a positive thing when stores follow the same model from location to location. Walgreens is no different. While staying in Minneapolis, I stopped into a close-by Walgreens to get a few items. I have alway seen locations in downtowns and this one was right around the corner from where I was staying. I am always pleased when I am properly greeted when I walk through the door. I am especially happy when a clerk or cashier look up from what they are doing to acknowledge a customer walking through the door. This store, like other Walgreens is big and bright with clean isles to navigate through. This incredibly delightful staff was over the top in greetings. Happy to see a customer. Happy to help a customer. Happy to speak with a customer. I needed a few items ranging from water to shaving cream. They had plenty of items to choose from and I pleased that their house brand is a substantially reduced price and the same item. Check out went very quickly and I received the same cordial greeting as I left as when I came in. The team member behind the counter just personified the model employee of engagement, spreading happiness and loving to be able to help. Kudos to a wonderful team here at Walgreens. read more

This is the second time I've utilized this Walgreens for a Covid shot appointment. Just as last time (two years ago), the pharmacy was grossly under-staffed and the line of patrons waiting were getting vocally and physically frustrated. It made for a very tense visit. Checking in for the shot took far longer than I should expect since I did all of it online prior (?). The person administering the shot was great though--very knowledgeable, personable, and fast. I visit this location the most, because it is convenient when I'm working. The staff here are friendly and it's pretty easy to navigate the store. The personal care items and most of the groceries are on the second floor. You can take the escalator or elevator to reach this area. I've had much-better experiences going into the store. I've tried placing a pick-up order here and it was canceled quickly. I still do not know why. Also, the hours are not correct when they are closed. I traveled downtown to get some things and they were closed. Delivery orders are easier to navigate. read more

I wanted to acknowledge the exceptional service provided by the pharmacy staff at my usual stop. Kalya and the entire staff are remarkable. I usually pick up my prescriptions and purchase other necessary items from there. I am given five stars because of the pharmacy staff, otherwise I would be given two stars. I appreciate you all! However, today (May 2nd, 2024), I forgot to buy my dog treats and grabbed them on my way out. I did not return to the pharmacy after picking up my prescription. Instead, I stopped at the first-floor cash register. Unfortunately, this woman at the counter was not trained to use their inside voice and spoke in an irritating/grating voice. In short, this behavior was unprofessional and unacceptable! My input: The management must take action to train properly and mentor all their employees. Your store is located in downtown Minneapolis, a hub of professionals who come to shop and grab a quick bite. Professionalism is key, and of the utmost importance, and any unprofessional behavior must be dealt with strictly. I wish you luck in training this woman, you certainly need it. As a whole the stores fine. However, you can find better prices and service at Target a few blocks away. My main reason for writing this is because of the horrible experience with the pharmacy department. While my main issue was with one, it's clear they're all low performers. 1) went in for prescription that was being transferred. Was told to have a seat, and 20mins later I asked for an update I was told by the rude pharmacist who I'll call D, it would be 20mins 2) 40mins after being there I told another pharmacist I had to leave and then D felt the need to interject with " it's a transfer it's not going to be fast". I guess for her, that long of a wait is okay, and the fact that she lied about the initial timing was also okay. Anyway I just ignored her and spoke to other low performer. 3) speaking of this rude female pharmacist D, not sure why but as I was sitting down, before interacting with her, she kept staring at me with a strange look. Because of that, the rudeness displayed when I finally did have to interact and her sharing that a 40minute wait was acceptable I decided to send a complaint to Walgreens. I don't know what her problem was, but I'm sure there's a host of meds back there that she can take. read more

My low rating for Walgreens overall is their continued DILUTION of the effective chemicals in our prescriptions by opting for cheaper and cheaper manufacturers!!! Prescriptions i take for asthma etc for years, are now SO ineffective i just suddenly QUIT and transferred everything to the good pharmacy at U of Mn campus (3). I like Fulton Street Main building lobby pharmacy also open saturdays 9-1 pm. Good bye Walgreens after NINETEEN years for the entire family!!! read more

3 and a half stars I actually want to give. This Walgreens is such a great asset to downtown and to the people who work/live down here. I don't even have to go outside when it's cold out during the week because it's in the skyway! What I don't like is being accused of getting a product that was locked up by the employees here and getting it unlocked bring it to the register to find out it was in the wrong spot. The person who checked me out initially was great! The other cashier was awesome. She went to look and told the manager where it was. I was then told by the manager that this was in the wrong spot. Ok I was ok with that and really didn't want it after I saw the real price. What got me is that I was ok to pass on the items since it was in the wrong spot, it was that the manager made me feel as if I put it there! It's locked for a reason due to high theft so the only person who would have put it in the wrong spot would be an employee since it had to be locked up. I don't like being accused by managers at any chain especially a locked up item in the wrong spot. I said the only person who could put it there would be an employee. Yes I know customers put stuff back in wrong spots and I don't expect them to give me that price or any other item in the wrong spot. So look at your cameras and see that I did in fact push the call button twice to get it unlocked and the lady came unlocked it I went to the counter and checked out. I'm not at fault it was placed under lock and key in the wrong spot by someone who worked there. Maybe I'll revisit this review in the future but as of now it's getting 3.5 stars. read more

Honestly if you can get your prescription filled ANYWHERE else, do it. This is the slowest pharmacy I've ever encountered, whether there's 1 person in line or 10. I just saw a guy literally having an asthma attack in line while he was told to wait (and was saved from passing out and collapsing from another person in line who offered theirs). Like....WHAT? This place is usually fairly busy because it caters to a majority if the office workers in the adjacent building. It is clean, usually quick and most the employees are pretty friendly. The sushi is cheap but does well - careful the chicken is fake if you're on some super kosher diet. However, highly recommend the sushi corner for lunch. Yes. It is a Walgreen's. Let's just get that out of the way up front. It is hard to be excited over a convenience store. That said, Walgreen's has done a couple of things that have really made this location something special. First the store is well laid out. The products do not feel jammed in or junky (I'm looking at you Macy's Minneapolis). The store is well lit and so clean you could eat off the floor. Product selection is pretty extensive. Anything you would need for an emergency purchase or to stock your desk with your favorite snacks. But the sushi puts it over the top. Wait, sushi? At a Walgreen's? Yes. And pretty good sushi at that. Unlike sushi you get at the supermarket which often has dried out rice, here the sushi rice was fresh and just about perfect. A little too much use of sauces like on the spicy tuna roll for my taste but others will love it. There is a very good selection and the Chef Sampler's are well thought out. I had Chef Sampler B which was tuna and salmon sushi. The prices were fair and the fish tasted very fresh. The sushi is definitely worth a stop for lunch. read more

This is the best Walgreen's I've ever been to. The store is so clean the staff is super friendly and my favorite Cashier I've ever encountered works at this store (Seaton). Seaton is hands down the best anywhere which says a lot seeing as I've lived in three different cities including Chicago. He is always happy to see me (and everyone for that matter). He's always joking with customers, singing along with whatever tune is playing in the store. To be completely honest he is the only reason I come here on a daily basis. I've been a Walgreen's customer for nearly two decades due to their national convenience, reliability and the fact that I can pick up things like sunscreen or batteries while filling a prescription. The pharmacy in this Walgreen's location, however, is placing me on the brink of walking away from Walgreen's forever. They've lost my prescription, failed to fill it on time, exhibited an extreme lack of caring about the customer and seem to be inept in the field of customer service and actually filling prescriptions. I am reviewing the sushi section - I want to thank the sushi chef for making fresh sushi and most importantly being so careful with my son's allergy. I asked if he can make vegetarian sushi because my son is allergic to seafood. He said yes and after making my order, he went and change cutting board and gloves and knife. They should keep their website updated, I even called her phone number before driving down here to make sure they were open in the computerized response said to please hold that his sales associate was taking another call. The store's OK, but the pharmacy is a mixed bag. It's a convenient location for downtown folk, but expect inconsistent service for anything more complicated than a straightforward pick-up. Plan for long phone waits and long lines, especially during peak hours. This week was the last straw. I was at the pharmacy with a question about a prescription refill. I was directed to speak with a pharmacist. I waited... and waited... at the pharmacist counter. Staff repeatedly called for a pharmacist, to no avail. Finally, I asked the young woman at the prescription pick-up counter if anyone else besides a pharmacist could answer a question about refills. She said, "Yes, I can help you. You need to stand over there and you need to go to the back of the line." She spoke at me as though scolding a child. Offended, I said I thought I was supposed to speak with a pharmacist. This (finally) got the attention of a pharmacist hurrying by. She double-backed - slightly - not all the way to the counter. I was forced to call out my question. In a rush, she checked her computer (away from the service counter) and called out to me that I had one refill left and it would be ready the following day. The next day I arrived to pick up my prescription. After waiting in line, I was told I could NOT obtain my medication because it needed my doctor's approval. (Huh?) As it so happened, a manager was helping me this time. She acknowledged that the pharmacist should have informed me of this the previous day. She profusely apologized and told me the mix-up was entirely Walgreen's fault. Which was nice and all, but it didn't get me my prescription. This was the second time something like this happened to me at this location. I thought the first time was a fluke, but now I'm looking for a new pharmacy. read more

I am a student looking for a job. I applied and went in to speak with a manager the same day. The interview went great and the assistant manager Gabe insisted multiple times during the interview and at the end he would email me with a decision while also talking about on boarding as if I got the job without him saying it. It has been difficult to find work during covid. Gabe never emailed me with an offer or to let me know I didn't get the job when he said he would be emailing me the same day. The next day I called to see if he was in and he was not so I passed along my name and information. Gabe STILL has yet to reach out to me days later so I withdrew my application. This is very unprofessional behavior and it makes me wonder how someone can be hired for such a role and exhibit this behavior! I was very excited about the potential opportunity with Walgreens, but this ruined it for me. At least follow through and have integrity for other guests, that's all I ask. read more
