Dr. Henry is one of the doctors I sent an inquiry to over the weekend, expecting a phone call to discuss a consult. Instead, I received a text the following Monday asking the following: do I smoke or vape, do I have diabetes, and what is my height and weight. I responded that I did not smoke nor have diabetes, and provided my height and weight. They denied me by text message only based on BMI (which hasn't been used an an accurate measurement in healthcare in years). People have different body types. I'm in good shape with the exception of this PCOS belly and they didn't even take the time to meet with me or visibly see me prior to telling me I had to lose weight first. This IS the weight I CANT lose - and why I'm looking to have the procedure. Happy to bring my business elsewhere, and hoping folks reading this do the same. I have a lot of hair but it is fine as well, so it breaks easily under distress and is layers so it is a nightmare to trim. Depending on the amount of water and product on my hair, and how it is applied and manipulated, the curl pattern will be different. Most of the time I wait for my hair to settle before getting ready but I never know what it is going to do day to day. All that to say, Michaela did my hair exactly the way I wanted. I was able to finally see my curls with finger-coils and my hair feels healthy after being dyed. I have only colored my hair twice in about a year and a half, but over 20 years since the first time. The time before I went lighter, this time I wanted a color that added more density to my thin ends and add dimension, and Michaela delivered. I rarely leave a salon without having to fix what was done- even a decent job still required more styling because it wasn't wet enough before the product was applied, and the application did not push the product into my hair shaft enough, so it would be frizzy. This time I was able to wear it out and I loved it. I knew I was going to need a cut, but Michaela was very conservative, taking what needed to go without a heavy hand. I will be returning, of course. I honestly thought at the very least would get a good color, but I got a skilled curly-hair trained professional with curiosity, a willingness to take in new information, and that loves her work. The environment didn't feel welcoming to ask questions, especially since most employees had worked there for years and mistakes were often met with judgment rather than guidance. Management provided no constructive feedback during my employment. The first indication that there was an issue was being fired unexpectedly over text with what appeared to be a generic AI-generated message. When I respectfully asked what I could have done better, I never received a response. It's hard to improve when no one communicates expectations or gives you the opportunity to correct mistakes. The expectations for new hires are unrealistic. You're expected to learn hundreds of products almost immediately, and instead of investing in training, the company seems quick to terminate employees who don't meet those expectations right away. The workplace culture also included frequent gossip about coworkers, which made the environment uncomfortable. I also observed what appeared to be favoritism. One employee, who was related to management, was often on her phone and regularly left closing responsibilities for others to finish, yet those behaviors didn't seem to be addressed. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this company to anyone looking for a supportive workplace with fair management, effective training, and open communication.
