Review for pharmacy only- and seeing as how I'm spending my time writing a review for Walgreen's, I'm sure you can tell I have to vent. First off, let me say that this is the pharmacy I have ALWAYS gone to... Over 20 years. However, I am so dissapointed in their service that I will never go back. I get it. They are busy. Like, extremely busy. Too many orders, not enough staff. I feel for them, but that's no excuse for rude, incompetent staff. I called Walgreen's to ask them how to administer medication that they hadn't explained. Instead, I was told that a doctor should have explained it to me. And when I reminded her that I was calling a pharmacy (aka a DRUG store fueled by PHARMACISTS) I was accused of catching an attitude and GOT HUNG UP ON. Think it was a mistake? Immediately called back, and no one answered. Do you know how frustrating this is when you have an extremely sick family member? I got in my car, drove back to Walgreens to talk to a pharmacist to see how to administer the meds. He asked to use my phone, got on youtube, searched how to administer the medicine, and made me watch it with him. WTF???? I transferred my meds to CVS- much better service there. read more

There's not a lot you can say about a location that's part of a huge chain. Basically, every location is physically identical to every other one. But I will say at the Montrose location I always seem to be stepping over someone stocking shelves during a busy part of the day. Also, the staff sure don't seem to be at all glad to be here. Not that I can blame them really, but the "post office attitude" sure shows here. Then finally dropped it off, said it would be an hour, came back in 1.5 hours and they haven't even started on it. I get it, they are busy... It's the flu season. I've learned to call this place to see if they actually have something in stock, because even basic antibiotics orders seem to baffle them sometimes....their phone system reminds me every 10 seconds that "all pharmacists are assisting others"... over and over and over and, well you know, over. Although I am glad I didn't waste my time going there, I feel the anger within.....building. OK, so 15 minutes of this horse puckey goes on with no answer. At this point I figure, yeah, well let's see how long it takes them to actually answer.....ok, so it was about 15 and change.... Most customers at this point would have said go pound sand, but I endure, gritting my teeth. The young man on the phone seems distracted and when I ask him if they carry this simple product that nearly every pharmacy carries...he acts like he's never heard of it, says "wait a minute" and puts the phone down. You would think I have just asked for some drug to cure a rare tropical disease or perhaps a rare isotope of a nuclear material...no, this is simple stuff that every pharma carries. My mind is now whirling with the potential yelp review I anticipate writing..... I hear shuffling, paperwork, steps, people moving around, drawers opening and closing... all different noises...but there are sounds I don't hear- I don't hear anyone talking and asking if they have the stuff, I don't hear anyone searching a computer. This guy just put the phone down and went on filling other order I think. Then after about 4 more minutes just a brief "uh, no we don't carry it" with the silent expectation that I will go away. Yep, now we are at a full-blown one. God, why doesn't Yelp allow me the opportunity to bestow zeroes on these people? Ok, let's ask ourselves a question - what good is it to have a 24 hour pharmacy that doesn't carry basics and you can't actually get access to in a reasonable amount of time and that once you do, you get treated like, well...you know...? My experience is a 1...the word I would use is...hmmm, let me think...hmmm, can't say it here. Save the effort and go somewhere where they have the stuff you want and you can get to it in a reasonable timeframe. This is a review of the pharmacy, not the rest of the store. I needed some meds yesterday from a workers compensation claim. I had previously been to CVS near my house which was a total waste of time (long story). The prescribing doctor sent me to this Walgreen's to gety prescription filled. Due to CVS' incompetence, there was an issue with getting my worker's compensation claim accepted for the meds...in walks Lori. Lori happened to just be in the neighborhood and popped in to say hi to her fellow coworkers on her day off. She saw they were struggling sorting out CVS' mistake and she jumped right in to get it all sorted out. Within a half hour, I had my prescription filled and was on my way...thanks Lori! read more

There is one person in the pharmacy that is completely rude. While I expect a wait when dealing with insurance issues I do not expect an attitude and rudeness from a technician due to issues out of our hands. If anyone can tell me the name of this technician, I'd appreciate it. A woman in her 20s of Indian descent and pock markson her face. I'd like to make a formal complaint on her. I tried calling but of course the wait time is ridiculous. The rest of the staff on the pharmacy as well as the store were quite nice. One bad apple can and will ruin the others. read more

While a robust store with friendly cashiers and well-stocked items for the GLBT community (though way less lube than ten years ago), this Walgreen's has always been my go-to. But since moving back to Houston, the three times I've gone here have each involved a 20 minute wait. I've been using Walgreens in Houston, Chicago, New York and Boston -- and this has never happened before. I'm going to have to transfer the prescription to anywhere else; judging by the previous reviews these excessively long waits seem to be the norm now, and for some reason management hasn't figured that customers don't like wasting their day in line. read more

The manager and moron working Sunday July 28 @6:52 are without a doubt the worst representation of what anybody working in the service or retail industry should be. Rude, unhelpful, unprofessional, freaking weird. We asked the clerk to help call for a bag if ice and he actually told us to go wait by the managers office door. After 5 minutes we asked if he could call him for assistance. He replies that he cannot because he's probably counting all the money. The manager comes out another 5 minutes later and asked what we wanted. We told him we just wanted some ice and he shrugs his shoulders and said he didn't know that. 12:00 AM splitting headache, nauseated, and having brain zaps -- realized my Effexor bottle was empty for my nightly dose. Cue me frantically driving to this Pharmacy to get a refill ASAP. Even a day without this medication, there's a huge withdrawal! The lady at the pharmacy initially took 20 minutes to get to me, but granted she had other people in line too. Quoted me an hour for pickup, left and came back, prescription ready in hand. Total life saver and I had no problems with this visit! Love me some 24/7 Pharmacies; especially Walgreens. read more

The pharmacy is consistently slow; whether it's the drive through, pick up line, or a call, don't expect to be in an out, especially if they have to contact your insurance or doctor. The staffers are nice and seem competent enough, but expediency is not their strong suit. I never thought there was a true difference between CVS and Walgreens until my insurance forced me over... in comparison CVS is much quicker with any and all task, more personable, and even their packaging is more appealing (not that the latter matters much, but I digress). I dread the time of the month when I have to pick up my prescriptions. If you have a choice or you're as impatient as I am, stick with the nearby CVS. read more

I have never written a Yelp review but I felt compelled to after this experience. I'm trying to fill a semi-difficult prescription for my boyfriend who just had surgery and I was told after visiting 4 pharmacies that this Walgreens would have the medicine we needed. After waiting 25 minutes in the drive through, the Pharmacist was EXTREMELY rude, hung up on me in drive through several times mid conversation, and wouldn't fill the script or even talk about it for extraneous reasons. Never dealt with such rude service and I'll never come back here. Don't recommend. read more

Very slow service. I changed my medication to half and it was only a two dollar difference. Usually, the pharmacist will tell you the change in price when you change your medication. I've been waiting for 10 minutes and still nothing. This is by far the slowest Walgreens I've ever attended. I will never come here again! read more

The staff is professional, polite and always straight forward if they do not have a medication in stock (which is rare). The only thing lacking is customer service the cashier looked angry and seem like she did NOT want to be there. I felt bad going to pay because I felt the negativity. This is conveniently located in the very crowded montrose area. I say it is convenient because they have a huge parking lot and carry essential grocery items. The drive through sucks bc you have to screen for them to hear you and even then you have to repeat yourself (they talk through a phone as the window doesn't open up). The staff I can't figure out whether the are slow or untrained. The last 3 itmes I went to pick up scripts, they tried charging me and had not run them through my insurance. My review is exclusively for the pharmacy. The store is fine, it's like any other Walgreens store. However, the pharmacy is hands down the worst pharmacy I have ever used. I've used the pharmacy about 3 times. Usually for minor things, as I don't really like taking prescriptions. Every time the wait has been insane. The straw for me was recently. I had my doctors office call in a new Rx. I get an automated message that they are having problems filling the Rx. I call my doctors office, and they say it's nothing on their end. I call the pharmacy the next day, to find out what's wrong, and after a very long time on hold they say oh, they fixed whatever it was and my Rx will be ready in an hour. I say great, and hang up. I go into the Walgreens about 5 hours later, wait an enormous amount of time before a pharmacist helps me, then they tell me my Rx isn't ready yet. Literally, this is just something you pick up off the shelf. When I tell them I had called and they told me it'd be ready 4 hours earlier, he was like oh! but no apology, just a rush to shove the pills in a bottle and get it to me. He asks me to verify my address, and when I say my address he just responds "no." Confused, I'm like well, that is my address. What do you have? He just says "no." So, I fill out other details, and he never asks me to update my address - so it's still wrong in their system. I eventually get my Rx and leave, but they are *always* rude, every time I've been there, they can't fill basic prescription requests and fumble about a lot, they don't have prescriptions filled when they say they will...They basically can't do a very basic job a 15 year old could easily do. I only wanted to like this pharmacy because it is mere blocks from where I live, and being open 24 hours is awesome. I hate having to leave work early just to get a prescription. But going there is SO painful, I'd rather drive farther and leave work early than ever deal with this pharmacy staff again. read more

I was the unfortunate victim of a auto accident last week and after spending 6 hours in the ER, I needed a 24-hour pharmacy so I could get my prescriptions filled. We dropped off my scripts around 2:30 am. They told us it would be about 45 minutes. This seemed to me a long time when it was so dead, but we didn't exactly have a lot of options and I NEEDED my pain meds ASAP. Forty-five minutes later, we pulled up to the drive thru window, they took my payment, handed me my meds and right as we were ready to drive off I realized the receipt was barely legible. Since I needed to save these receipts for the insurance, it simply wasn't going to work. As someone who has worked in retail previously, I figured they could easily reprint. TOTALLY NOT THE CASE. Between the pharmacist and another employee, it took them over 20 minutes to finally void out my transaction and run my card again on another machine with a better printer. It was frustrating because I was already tired and in pain and these people were not the least bit apologetic. Fortunately, this is not my home Walgreens and I'm hoping I will never again be in need of a 24-hour pharmacy, as I will not be coming back here anytime soon. read more

This is one of those situations when I wish I could give 0 stars. This review is based off of the pharmacy. WORST pharmacy I have ever been to. I have not had one positive experience here. They are impossible to get ahold of on the phone, I once was on hold for 30 minutes. They have called and told me my prescription is ready for pick up only to not have it when I arrive. Up with regard to the pharmacy itself, I would give this place 5 stars, based on how hard the staff works, as they are very professional, personable, and courteous. Anyone who complains about this place hasn't worked in the service industry. This is a high-volume store. It's the hobos, crack-heads, and meth addicts outside the store that changes the decorum. Walgreens redesigned the floor plans adding in all the crap makeup and removing many of the stocked items that we use to buy. All my drugstore needs and extras were once available. I purchased all oral care, elderly adult care, hair care, skin care, pet care, food and drink, phone needs, and much more. In 5 years time they have removed every item and brand I use to buy. Today I went to 3 Walgreens while running errands to get a Denture Tooth Brush for Gramma. Walgreens does NOT carry it any more. I read every empty slot and not even a spot for them. One brand, one style brush no longer exists in their stores. You can get a tongue brush and several kinds of denture adhesive but NO brush to clean them. Seriously, who comes up with the list of what to get rid of?! Are they brain dead?! Walgreens is supposed to be a drug store. NOT a cosmetics store! I have absolutely no reason to go to Walgreens for any of my or my family's needs. They have removed all brands and items I purchase. I'm going back to be a CVS CUSTOMER!! read more

Like the reviewers before me, i am basing this review mostly on my experience with the pharmacy. Every time i fill a prescription here there is an ungodly wait time. There are long lines of irritated people at all times of the day. Hand to god, the past 3 times I have been, there was a person in front of me complaining about the service they are receiving. They really need to get their act together. I understand that pharmacies get busy, but somehow Walgreens doesn't understand the amount of business they do and the need for more people working at once, or perhaps faster moving employees. There was a problem with a prescription of mine and instead of calling me to inform me, they simply did not fill it. I waited for 36 hours before I realized they were not filling it. After a phone call they filled the prescription but i imagine that is something you would inform your customer of instead of just letting it go unfinished. Calling them is another problem, it took me multiple attempts before i was finally able to get through to a person. I was hung up on, got a busy tone, or the phone would just ring and ring. I am stuck using this pharmacy for one medication due to recent government regulations, otherwise I would stick with my studemont kroger pharmacy which is always friendly and quick. The employees are friendly enough, but by the time you get to them its hard to not let your irritation show. read more

The pharmacy staff here has been given several bad reviews, BUT what many people aren't realizing is that it takes TIME to safely dispense medication and work with your doctors and insurance companies etc to make sure things are done right. Not a fan. The pharmacy is slow and they don't really seem like they know what they're doing. I have been to a lot of Walgreens pharmacies, but this one became somewhat of a pain. My biggest pet peeve was the new medications I received and no one asking me if I had any questions. Maybe that isn't protocol, but I have always been asked if I have any questions by the pharmacist.
