She handed me one and again I repeated,I have another prescription. She unapologetically told me, "well it's not here." While standing there, I looked at my app, and it said the prescription was at a different Walgreens. I looked at the pharmacist and said, "has this ever happened before?" She said yes. I told her this is very inconvenient. She just stared at me. No apology, no thank you, have a nice day, just complete disregard for a customer. Horrendous customer service! I have a beef with Walgreens. I checked out today and the clerk asked if I was a member. I said yes…read moreand entered my phone number. He then said, you have $10 credit would you like to use it. I said, sure. I left feeling good that I managed to use some Walgreens loyalty credits. When I reached home, I looked at my phone and discovered that it was not Walgreens credit that I received but he had cashed some of the ThankYou points from my Citi Double Cash account. Walgreens is not the only business to do this. WalMart, Schnucks and CVS do it and I'm sure there are more. I always decline this because they screw you on the exchange. They charge a 25% premium in points used for the credit received versus getting cash from Citi. There is a difference though between Walgreens and the others I mentioned. That difference is that the source of the credit did not appear on the screen that I had in front of me. It was on the checker's screen. So, I did not have a chance to see what was going on and reject it. His question followed immediately after I entered my phone number, so I assumed that it was Walgreens loyalty credit. At the other stores, Schnucks, WalMart and CVS, it is very clear on the POS pad that they are going to charge you more points than the credit you receive. I am sure Citi has a deal with these retailers to split the 25% premium and Citi has a way of getting some of the Double Cash back into their accounts. In return, Walgreens gets some of it as well. If I were cynical, I would suspect that Walgreen's trains their checkers to do this and add a little more to Walgreens accounts as well. This was not a life changing transaction, but I am not happy about the practice. I will think twice before returning to Walgreens and will opt for CVS, which demonstrates more transparency before this happens.

Prices are much better than the gas station which is the other alternative to going all the way to the grocery store. The store layout of items changed recently so I am still getting used to where my Hostess cupcakes are but not too bad. The lines are never really long and the service is pretty fast given the cashiers are usually around 70 years old. With age comes wisdom and a smile which you don't get most places. I am not thrilled about the pharmacy. I get much better pricing at that family owned grocery chain that starts with an "S". I stop in Walgreens at least 3 to 4 times a week which is probably too much but I guess I am addicted to the convenience.

I am a super patient person, but they seem to have no comprehension that people needing medication are often sick or in pain. Their lax and obnoxious behavior is just absolutely uncalled for.
