My brows were sagging and my lids are drooping over my eyes. I made an appointment with Jerry the owner to discuss this and she admitted her practitioner Bonnie shouldn't have put it in the top of my forehead and this is why my eyebrows were sagging. She did offer to inject more to try to fix it but after this nightmare, I didn't want anything more done and just wanted a refund. She refused and said it was company policy. She is the owner and refused to give me my money back. She said I had to pay for the product. M face should be back to normal in a couple months I hope. I will have to live like this until then. Accidents happen but a good business will backup their work. I don't recommend this business. Because my face is so noticeable, I have to let people know what has happened which is even more embarrassing. When they ask where I went, I will make sure to tell them and word travels fast. I want to spare anyone else the pain of what I'm going through.

It feels like you've stepped into someone's home or personal art gallery (a relaxed one run by super nice, super hip people you could kick back and have a local beer with, not the stuffy kind that won't let you touch anything and watches you like a hawk as you peruse). But this is a shop. One where you can purchase (without breaking the bank, might I add) seaweed specialty foods (like granola bars, sauces, teas), seaweed and sea inspired bath and body items (DYK: seaweed is rich in vitamins, minerals, and contains anti-inflammatory properties?!), seaweed and sea inspired home goods, and more. I believe most (if not all) of their items are also local and sustainably sourced. Could it get better? YES. Because, they've got a beautiful focus on education and ocean conservation as well - so you can buy reusable, non-breakable straws, wine cups, and pints here. #beatplasticpollution As a mermaid, this has easily become my favorite store in all of Portland.

I walked away with some cute shower aromatherapy scent bombs which i've never seen before, that made my giftees super super happy! Abura is located on Munjoy Hill right next to the coffee shop (now Double Great; used to be Hilltop). It's an unassuming little storefront and I have to confess that it took me longer than it should have to notice it was there! But once I stopped in for the first time and tried a few products, I was hooked. First I was just happy to pick up a few nice products from the retail part in front: a great lip balm, then a nice facial spray, and then Abura's absolutely fantastic product "Afterglow," which is a moisturizing cream and highlighter that makes you look and feel refreshed no matter how pasty your winter complexion might be. Then I started stopping by to pick up gifts for friends, who loved them--especially the "Awake" eye and face cream, which is so popular it keeps selling out. The owner, Amanda, has created an entire line of skincare products with a focus on natural ingredients (and there's a curated selection of other products on sale too). Then I went full-on bliss by booking a facial--and hands down, it's the loveliest facial I've ever had. There are a few different options to book but your first visit will be completely customized to you, based on what your skin needs; Amanda really listens and chooses her products accordingly. I began with a relaxing herbal steam, and then we went into various layers of gentle exfoliation and moisture, moisture, moisture (so necessary for our winters!), including a wonderful honey mask. A week later and my skin is still happy. You can also book a massage here, and a few other treatments, both skincare and energy-oriented. And there's an infrared sauna! I booked a half-hour session after my facial and loved it; the sauna is in its own little room that you have it all to yourself. Infrared is especially great for those of us who don't like or can't tolerate the extreme heat of a steam sauna--and it was *amazing* for wintery, achy joints. For sauna sessions Abura offers packages (which end up giving you a discount). Practicalities: arrive early enough to find street parking (not really an issue in the off-season, but you may need to try a block or two away). There are package deals available for the sauna and facials that offer discounts. And I want to stress the intimacy of this place: it's small, quiet, and not a place for groups (a huge plus, in my book). Abura is a wonderful way to treat yourself and support a local business and I, for one, hope it's here for a long time.

At her appointment, she was brought back to the treatment room and started her cleaning. Half way through the cleaning, the receptionist came back and whispered to the hygienist during her cleaning. They stopped her treatment, and demanded my mother had to pay an extra $200!!!!! Feeling strong held, she paid half at the time to finish a simple cleaning. Her insurance covers cleanings!!!!!! Seniors should not be abused like this by MEDICAL STAFF! PERIOD! To make matters even worse, they called my mother, scolding her for calling her insurance company to question their claims of not covering A CLEANING! The receptionist asked my mother "did you call your insurance company what happened at your appointment?" What right does a receptionist have calling a patient and ask that kind of question. The receptionist even talked down to her, when she called to get her records transferred. They also were very difficult to get the information, that my mother paid for out of pocket!! Insanity. She needed other procedures done that ARE COVERED BY HER INSURANCE!! Again, they told her how she had to an extra $400 before receiving care. Disgusting they treat SENIORS or anyone this way. I will be filing several complaints with the appropriate authorities. I have already complained directly to her insurance company and they have had other issues here!!!
