This review is based solely on the 24 hour pharmacy.
I have been a loyal Walgreens customer for years. I have been to 6 or 7 locations around the DFW metroplex over an extended period of time and never had such awful experiences like I have with this location. Lines don't bother me. It is the incredibly rude and off-putting attitude of certain pharmacy techs and stand in pharmacists that I have struggled to understand.
For instance, I went in this morning with a hand-written prescription for a compounded oral rinse. My doctor had sent a prescription for a broad spectrum antibiotic over e-scripts, but alerted me that their system had been having issues and to call if I had any problems. I arrived at the pharmacy and spoke with a very sweet woman, but I failed to catch her name. She was a young Latina with glasses and was very cheery. I'm definitely a fan of her. She let me know that the e-script had not arrived, they tried to contact the doctor but she was not answering, asked if I could try, and went on to fill my prescription that I brought in on paper.
After I contacted my doctor who said she would immediately fax it, I stood in line and waited to relay the information to someone. I noticed that a younger African American woman, with straight hair and a thin silver necklace with a heart on it, had taken extended periods of time with the couple she had seen while I was straightening my prescription problem out and the person after them. It totaled to about 35 minutes. I noticed her scowl the entire time. I was hoping to not speak with her as I was already feeling pretty crummy.
As luck would have it, the scowl-faced lady who did not wear a name tag, probably so people would be less likely to complain about her awful attitude, was going to be helping me. The first thing I said when I stepped up to her register was that I just wanted to let her know that my doctor was faxing my prescription for my Z-pack over. She asked for my name and date of birth, pulled up my account, and informed me that "magic mouthwash" was not a Z-pack. Yes, I'm aware. I brought that prescription in by hand. I have another prescription being faxed over by my doctor, who I literally just got off the phone with, that I'll be picking up as well. I thought I explained this clearly, but apparently not. She looked at me and seemed not to follow anything I said. Her next question was, "So you don't want the magic mouthwash?" I stated that I would indeed be picking that one up and the Z-pack when it was filled.
She walked over and asked the pharmacist if he had any voicemails for my medication. I'm familiar with the process of faxing prescriptions to Walgreens and know that they go to a central location and are then called into each branch. As I had just hung up the phone a minute and a half before speaking with this nameless lady, I didn't expect to have the prescription in at this point. She shuffled back to the register, clearly annoyed with me, and stated that I didn't have a prescription faxed in. As I had already told the pharmacy tech lady that I had just hung up the phone with the doctor, I decided that my words were never going to sink in. I was obviously wasting her precious time and becoming a nuisance.
Without an offer to grab my filled prescription for my magic mouthwash, which I do realize is not a Z-pack, I politely asked if I could at least pay for it and take it home while I waited for the antibiotic. She shuffled back to grab it, exhausted with my request, and I was finally on my way.
I realize we all have bad days, but when everyday is a bad day for you, there's an issue. I don't want to be sick, I don't want to have to ask you for my medication when I don't feel well. Please be less awful in the future so I don't have to switch pharmacies. read more
