    Can't lift the chairs?

They're finished , they know it, and they've given up. Sorry for us even more when private takes them over. Prescriptions are thrown through a diner window to the floor, hopefully hitting a bin somewhere. Therefore, they always take five minutes to find your prescription. Need BandAids? Good luck. Complaining about the long lines? Remember, Walgreens is the retail KING at creating long lines. For decades. They don't shovel snow. Monroe and Hasted sidewalks?Untouched. Huge drifts on the sidewalk along the building so you can't get to it from your car. They mop the floors maybe once a week? Once a month? And then they send in 14-year-olds to do a crummy job. Two days before these pictures, the floors were as dirty and salty as Halsted Street; they must have just come in last night. Is there no pride? For a manager to tell a staffer "Get on that mop!" The health care system has it rigged against us. Our insurance companies have negotiated their monopolies: WE have no choice. "They can't get employees." Nonsense. I usually see half the staff wandering the aisles just killing time on screens. Slow motion everywhere. It's hard enough to deal with Walgreens, but when they slap you in the face with indifference and incompetence, it's insulting and infuriating. And sad. Walgreen's headquarters leaving Chicago? Good riddance.

And now my watch has ended

Craft beer fans pay attention. This Walgreen's has a top notch selection of craft brew. Yes, you read that correctly. Who even knew they sold beer? This past weekend whilst perusing their beverage aisle, I stumbled upon my Michigan favorite Greenbush. They've got bottles of Anger, Sunspot and the potent Brother Benjamin. I've also seen beers from Revolution, Rogue, Dark Horse, Bear Republic, Goose Island, Oskar Blues, and Stone. They've got it all: bombers, bottles and cans. Get some! I really like the redesign that they've done here too. The pharmacy is great and we are always out quickly. There is even a drive thru if you need to be fast. It looks like you can get some food shopping done here too. The cosmetic section has anything you would need, including those tiny little bottles of whatever that the little lady always puts on the shopping list and run like twenty bucks. I also love the convenience of having a Red Box right down the block in this store. So, yeah. I like this Walgreens. It's got everything I need and it's 24 hrs too.

This place is the worst I did the express check out and I would have been better off standing in line. They need to reorganize there system.

All I wish is for the checkout lines to be staffed better at peak times. First world problems I know.

There is a security guard stationed at the entrance, yes, and reviewers like to point out the surrounding public housing and certain instances of crime. Ok. So a couple of people are committing crimes in the area. Let's be careful about navigating the neighborhood. BUT, let's also be careful about implicitly perpetuating general racist views towards African Americans because of a few bad apples. Yelp loves a good witch hunt, and it's really disappointing. I encourage all of us white allies, Latinxs, and African Americans instead to be reflective of the colonial mindset that imprisons us and to do the hard work to dissolve that. I make sure to smile at the cashier if it's been a particularly long line. Sometimes the pharmacy is backed up with customers so I just check my emails (Tell President Obama: call off raids against immigrant families, Sign the petition: Stop bullying transgender children, Sign if you agree: Ban Bee-Killing Pesticides). The isles and fridges are stocked with food high in trans fat and sodium. Mostly I stop here for the Redbox outside. It's the closest one to me, and the selection is mainly big budget studio films and Tyler Perry knockoffs. I would appreciate stronger indie choices for this location's curation. Half of the available movies are Marvel. Though there are worse things to watch than ScarJo. Her performance in "Under the Skin" was quietly arresting, evoking Hepburn-esque curiosity with merely her eyes, as an alien roaming the Scottish Highlands. Though if I'm truly honest with myself, last year I enjoyed "Lucy" more than I enjoyed "Under the Skin." Because I immediately understood "Lucy." It was weird enough to feel fresh, it appealed to my tastes, I identified with and appreciated the themes, and I wasn't once confused. I recognize that "Under the Skin" is undeniably more challenging, more complex, and better directed. But at the end of the day, I need "Under the Skin" explained to me. I got a vague idea as to some of its themes, particularly right at the end, but most of it made no sense to me until I sought out and read analyses. And I'm always ashamed of myself when this happens, because I feel like I should have been able to figure it out on my own. I sometimes fear that as a viewer I've rendered myself blind to subtlety, growing up watching Michael Bay films and summer movie blockbusters, Hollywood studio films that go big and wear their intent on their sleeve. I had to pause "Birdman" the other day because I couldn't stop crying. I get frustrated and the room gets dark when I try to read and appreciate the hidden meaning in works. Then I start to think maybe the filmmaker is making fun of me. He purposely made something opaque to watch me squirm as I try to squeeze meaning out of something meant to point out my stupidity. It's been my goal to be as well-rounded of a viewer as I can be. So I sometimes rent the Tyler Perry knockoffs, just to cover my bases. I want to be able to appreciate any film on its own terms. But too often I find myself needing things explained to me about a film's intent, and I feel I'm not getting any better at it.

I needed to get very important medications from there and it was first time needing to get it picked up. Pharmacy techs were so condescending and said "we can't help you, please leave," and I saw other pharmacy techs laughing in the background at the fact I'm walking through the drive-thru. Sorry I don't have a car, but maybe you should actually try to prioritize the health of people if you want to be in the pharmacy world when they need help. Worst staff I have ever met.

I made an appointment online, checked in 15 minutes before my appointment via text and the CVS online app. I patiently waited 20 minutes in the "vaccinations only" chair and was never called nor acknowledged. I told two different pharmacy techs that I was there for a vaccine and was told "you'll be called." After 45 minutes I waved the pharmacist over and told him I was waiting for a vaccine. He told me I needed to go to the Minute Clinic, which I did, despite my confirmation text saying to go to the pharmacy counter. I was sent back to the pharmacy and the pharmacist said he'd "found my appointment." So what was supposed to be a seamless in-and-out experience took almost an hour. The pharmacist was pleasant but never apologized for making me wait.
