This Walmart in Halifax, Nova Scotia is one very large supercenter! Made a quick stop here to buy my favorite Canadian snack! I just love Ketchup chips!! I can only find them in Canada. Hardly ever see them in the U.S. The place was packed with people during our Sunday visit. Surprisingly clean and organized despite the ton of people here. They had a lot of check out counters, and I believe they were all open with lines of customers. We chose to go to the Express Lane. There were about 30 people ahead of us, but I liked their set-up for the express lane. Customers lined up and would wait for a checkout register to become available. A screen would light up with the register number that is available, and a speaker would also announce the number as well. There were at least 8 checkout registers that were dedicated solely for the Express lane. We waited less than 5 minutes before it was our turn!! Very cool indeed!! Got to admit that I like this Walmart. Sorry, to all my Walmart hater friends out there! read more

Ok, I know it's a wal-mart, I know it's evil, but I also know how much my tuition costs. Get that lowered and then we'll talk about what a horrible person I am for shopping at satan's department store. You could go in here and buy some obscure name brand bread for two dollars, or some shoddy pants that are guaranteed to rip in the crotchial area after the first couple wearings. In my opinion, the fabric/craft section is the only area that's sort-of worth visiting. They've got an ok selection, but their 'low price' policy doesn't transfer to this section for some reason. They do have some ok craft paints at low prices, and a few cheap notions. I heard a rumor that Wal-mart is phasing out all of its craft/fabric sections for some reason. This particular Wal-Mart is by far my favourite. Each time I go in there, I end up leaving with everything I went in for. When I hit up other stores, I usually forget something because I find I'm confused by the lay-outs. I am a big fan of their photolab. I have gotten the best help from this particular location. I find them to be helpful and always give me great selections or ideas if I'm looking for a photo gift for someone. The staff are awesome here and It's always neat and tidy. read more

This is my fave Walmart location in all of HFax- not is it conveniently located pretty near to me, but it's also quite big, open later than some other stores, and it's one of the few places I know of that stocks everything from groceries to electronics, sporting goods to hardware n' automotive. Lotsa stuff to behold! This store is my #1 source for household cleaners and laundry products- the "rollbacks" are usually unbeatable. I realize it's not the most ethical place in the world, but the reality is, when you're in a bind and desperate for dishwasher tabs and cheap 2ply toilet paper- Walmart reigns supreme as the go-to store. Service here is generally good, with fast and friendly service. Weekends (namely Saturdays), have a tendency to get chaotic, so if you're squeamish around crowds and lineups at the cash, you'd be best to head over to Walmart during weeknight hours. read more

It's a Walmart and it's what you would expect with a Walmart - what more can I say? They have everything and anything that you could need at pretty low prices. The store is generally clean, and kept in great order. Staff are helpful, but often hard to find. Depending on the time of day it could be CRAZY busy or dead. It really depends - don't got on Saturday. Just don't. It's CRA-ZY! Sometimes you can catch a good end-of-season sale at this location (IE:Christmas/Easter/Halloween stuff) because they tend to get in more stock than they need for those occasions. read more

Like most walmarts this location carries most things. I have puchased from most departments here from large to smaller items. I always inquire about warranty info before a large purchase like electronics as some you need to deal with the maker of the item and not walmart and you need to send away and cannot return to store so its always good to ask before you buy. Sometimes you may need to go through 3-4 employees before they can answer your question, thats when you can find one as its not always that easy. I like going weekdays for my shopping as weekends tend to take longer with the amount of people there. The food section I can always find a few good buys in :) the meats are also a good quality (ive enjoyed more then a few good bbq's this summer) and a good price. Returns- know that return policies vary depending on department like electronics (30days for some). Last but not least I always look at their website for good sales before I go however if its a large item even if it shows in stock I call before I make the trip as twice I have been told the site isnt always upto date and ive had to order the item. I have no idea why I like this Wal-Mart over others! I honestly don't know why this is. But I do love this Wal-Mart over others. The staff aren't that incredible but the store layout is nicely done and, like all other Wal-Mart's it has a section for whatever you need. Let me state for the record that I understand Wal-Mart is not a local business and is an amazing giant in the corporate world. But I am not against it. I will join activist groups to help make it more conscious of its environmental and business practices. But I think there is a place in the world for big corporations alongside locally owned stores. There. My rant is done. Now on to this Wal-Mart. The section that I believe needs the most improvement is their childrens section. They have the basic needs for parents with babies but I just wish they had a wider, cheaper selection of good quality products. They could also lower their prices a bit in the electronic section but I always tend to find a deal on computer accessories. One thing many might forget about Wal-Mart that I feel is a nice, big bonus, is their parking lot. Its not just a large parking lot but it is placed right near the Metro Transit Mumford Terminal. Which means you can park your car for the day and take the bus to work which saves you money in gas and downtown parking. A big plus when you are on a budget. Wal-Mart is Wal-Mart. I can't imagine it going away any time soon and personally I am happy for that. This particular Wal-Mart just seems to be better than others. I have tried to find out why I think so but cannot find a real reason. The layout is one of the reasons why I enjoy this store over other Wal-Mart's. When you walk inside, you are in the middle of the store. So it is roughly the same distance to any section you want to go. Other Wal-Mart's are built in a way that you have to walk from one end of the store to another to get to what you want. So that's one reason. If you need to park your car for the day, buy cheap but pretty good quality clothes, get some inexpensive DVDs or do your Halloween or Christmas shopping, this is a good choice. read more

First of all, the Mumford Walmart is not "downtown". It's not anywhere near downtown. But when you call, an American accent welcomes you to your "downtown Halifax Walmart". Ever since the Mumford Walmart brought in food, NOTHING is in stock anymore. Doesn't matter if you're looking for lamp shades, something in electronics, planters... nothing is in stock anymore. Nothing is in stock, and they want you to shop online. But their online shopping fees are ridiculous. While all other stores offer free shipping and pickup at the local store, Walmart charges a shipping fee. It also charges an "order handling" fee. So that five dollar item they no longer stock in the store, now costs $20 with shipping, "order handling" and taxes. Walmart used to be my first go-to, and now it's my absolute last resort. I used to shop at Walmart every single payday, and now, maybe once every four months. And forget about online. Unless Walmart gets rid of its outrageous shipping and order fees, I will never buy anything online from Walmart. read more

I love this Walmart! They have a great selection of Indian food and snacks. Not always a consistent inventory, but I'll take what I can get.Super spicy and addictive Masala chips...mmm. There's a good variety of produce to use for ethnic cooking which, if you enjoy cooking, is awesome. Cheaper than Sobeys too. If you're looking for specialty grocery items like 10 different types of gourmet vinegar you may be out of luck but you can head to Pete's for that. When they started offering groceries, I thought I would never go to Walmart again. I thought I expected to hate the experience. Instead, I go more often than I ever did. Best time to go in my experience for the best selection of produce is EARLY Saturday morning. read more

It is a well-stocked Walmart, but some items are not where they should be placed. A lot of items are stuffed in the corners of shelves making them hard to find. This makes it especially difficult because Canada's Walmart app, at least for this store, doesn't have the feature for finding the isle for searched items. read more

I went in to return a coffee grinder today and was supprised to see the parking lot full in the middle of a workday? I am off but what about all these people? Anyway it was the re-launch of the store???? It is now called supercenter walmart? They have a fine choice of vegtables now and expanded the processed meat section and reg meat section and added a freezer section but other then that it is walmart so the buzz in the air and people rushing about well I guess it is more exciting then sitting at home and watching TV. I was looking for rack of lamb for dinner and did not find it so do not expect them to carry the higher end stuff like superstore and petes has. If I was looking for bologna it would have been my lucky day becuase they had super big logs for only 10 bucks. read more

If I could give Walmart a zero I would no stars for Walmart. I proceeded to go to Walmart to get some undershirts for work I'm a welder in a fitter I noticed the table that had three dollar tank tops on sale I said what a perfect idea so I bought them and realize that I was overpriced for two of them. So I went to customer service and straighten line again it was just the principle of being overcharged so then I saw the sign that if your items are ticketed and the price came up wrong you get the item for free the lady didn't want to do that for me she just want to give me my money back he proceeded to call me a liar telling me that they are on a six dollar table there is no six dollar table inside I had to take a gentleman to show him that there was no six dollar table and that this woman was calling me a liar. There actually was no number on a table there were three dollar shirts on one side and 15 on the other. I would've rather of gone to more store and spent more money than to be treated as ignorant as this lady has treated me. She was happy and puffy she threw pens around like crazy and called me a liar. Yeah she's in customer service. No matter what your home life is if you're having a bad day don't take it out on customers I have a job to when I don't take my work with me so if that was her problem she shouldn't of come to work that day needless to say no customer needs to be treated as ignorant as that lady treated me. I used to like this walmart until about 10pm hit and it "closed", I was in the store looking for my last item ..soap. I just wanted to grab any soap at all and get out. I had the makeup girl screaming at me "WE'Re CLOSED!!!" as I passed her section, rude and gave me a headache finally I asked someone to direct me to the soap so I can leave and this old man actually said, "you have no time to get soap you have to get out now, the registers will close". Are you kidding me? I ended up leaving without soap and I will be calling a manager and speaking about the way employees speak to customers at closing time, it's like theyre trying to hoard out sheep ...especially the employees that were on today read more

So this one time at band camp. No wait, this one time at this Mumford Walmart location I was looking for this one sale item. It took up half the front page of the flyer so naturally it'd be placed somewhere prominent right? No. Well at least in its appropriate section surely? Nope. I think okay then I'll just ask a staff member. After an extensive search I had found and asked, I kid you not, seven Walmart employee about this item. I was pointed to all kinds of places in opposite ends of the store on a wild goose chase. Not one of the seven knew where it was. Astonished at this, not even one followed up with "but I'll find out" when they said they didn't know, excluding the wild goose chase enthusiasts. I am beyond annoyed and go to the Customer Service desk. There I find two employees talking to each other, not work related. I find a manager and supervisor at the end of the counter. No one asks if they can help me. So I deliver an insincere sorry to interrupt statement and explain my great search and how no one knew where my item was in the store. No apologies and neither the manager or supervisor know! I'm told something along the lines of they can't be expected to know where everything in the store is located. Uh, fair enough, maybe. But a big half page on the flyer bound to be popular and they don't know where the hell it is in the store. I informed them that their customer service was awful and they were all idiots. I left the store and rarely go there unless it's kind of urgent. It's great if you don't need any help. Getting your stuff rung through by the walking dead is a breeze. It's like Walmart is sucking their souls right out of them. Then they have to do that ridiculous soul stealing little jingle. The two stars are for the unfortunate people who find themselves in a position that they have to work at Walmart. Oddly enough I recently dealt with a call centre rep from the website that was competent and helpful. On a side note, did you know that Walmart ships groceries now? Every time I try to come to the photo centre there isn't any associate to serve me. There is always a sign saying an associate will return to serve you at... Half an hour from the present time. This is very frustrating as I'm only here to pick up photos that are already printed. With all the staff they employ they can't spare one to cover the employees breaks? That's just ridiculous.
