Also just a short jaunt off the 102. I am, however, re-evaluating my choice to pick this branch as my default place to buy food, and have found myself more and more using the larger, newer and better stocked Sobeys at the Larry Uteck exit off the 102. But back to this location, access can be a bit of a nightmare during rush hour since both HP rd and the Beford Hwy can get super backed up, and the surrounding intersections become hazardous to say the least when traffic peaks. The inside of the store seems new and bright, though the layout is a bit more confusing than other Sobeys. This could possibly be due to recent renovations, having to overlay a new layout over old infrastructure. Other than that, the staff are super friendly and seem to enjoy working there, which is always a good sign.

The seafood and butcher's area is always clean and well presented, and the meat is delicious. They also have an excellent "Hippy Section", as I've always called it, full of healthy foods and ethical household supplies. I can't think of anything majorly wrong with this location. Sometimes they dont have everything I need (Artichokes, why are you never here?) but they come pretty darn close. It can be a bit tricky to finds things sometimes, but if you've ever played a point-and-click game, you can usually deduce where everything is. No basil in the the herb section? Check with the tomatoes up front. Can't find the pancake batter? Check with the syrup, not with baking. It's either a fun brain teaser, or a deeply frustrating exercise, depending on your mood. Plus the cashiers are always hilarious, which is always a bonus!

The main reason I stopped coming here is because I have to drive all the way down Hammonds Plains Road or Bedford Highway (your only two options for getting there), and both these roads are a nightmare for traffic. Otherwise the store is conveniently located near a number of doctors offices upstairs, and inexplicably a Shoppers Drug Mart across the street (does this area REALLY need both?). The store itself is heavily geared towards selling gifts and various Hallmark-esque items. Wouldn't blame anyone for thinking they were walking into a large hospital gift shop at first. As an aside, I was surprised that they don't sell bathroom scales. If they can devote the majority of an aisle just to weight management products, then wouldn't it make sense to sell the item a person would need to weigh themselves?

To be honest, I would have preferred to pick up a higher brand, something from lines Lawton's wouldn't carry, but I went here in the name of economizing. I picked up my top coat and then got a base coat as well. They were both half off, so that was a nice deal. The biggest problem I had is that all their make-up is sorted by brand, which means the nail polish is scattered all over the store, like an easter egg hunt. It made comparing and choosing colours difficult, so I eventually headed to the sale section and picked up a sampler pack for half price. The deals were great, but I wish the polish was grouped more closely together.

I've recently switched from doing most of my grocery shopping at the Sobeys on Bedford highway, to…read moreusing this location at Larry Uteck.. Mostly because its more easily accessible by car (Bedford hwy intersection with HP rd can be a nightmare). There are also many more box stores in the immediate surroundings, so I get more done on a single trip when I come out. Its also super convenient if you work out at the Goodlife fitness around the corner. You can often see a lot of buff bodies roaming the aisles in the store at any given time. The layout is a little weird, but you get used to it. The refrigerators that line the back of the store take some getting used to.. I keep forgetting where to get the yogurt vs cottage cheese and other dairy products. The staff are super nice here, and the shelves seem to be better stocked, especially in produce, than many other grocery stores around. That brings me to my next point in that its usually much quieter than other Sobeys or Superstores. You're unlikely to find long lineups here on even the busiest days.

The main store is pretty large, you can get almost everything you need there. A bit sad that they stopped selling eggs. The lady's working the counter are always friendly, but its odd that I have never seen a guy working here(been living on the street for over 5 years). The pharmacy is quick, and their always friendly and easy to chat with. **Wait time for prescription drugs is usually 10min. The Canada post is nice enough to offer free envelopes; depending on who's working.

It was kind of incredible to see him sort everything, check for damage, and share his vast knowledge of the artists and how the records were recorded/produced, etc. My friend and I ended up hanging out for a bit after closing and chatting with David and another customer. As Adam B. mentioned, he brings his dog to work with him, she usually lounges on the floor in one of the aisles (which isn't really a problem as she seems friendly enough and is usually eager for a quick pat as you walk by).

Annabel's was the only store in Nova Scotia to carry the Dessy line. The owner was very helpful and although she did not have the dress in stock did the measurements and ordered it for us. She was able to give us samples of other dresses similar so that she could try it on and see what it looked like. I also got a mother of the bride dress there and very happy with it. I read some reviews that said the quality wasn't there but I have gone to other dress shops where the prices were higher And the seams let go and the beads fell off. They may not have the biggest selection but they can order it and the quality is there

When you walk into the store, the first thing you notice is all the British imported food and snack items.. Reminds me a lot of my childhood and I usually buy something for nostalgia sake. Right beyond that is beverage display case with all sorts of drinks you'd rarely see elsewhere. I especially enjoy their local and import ginger beer selection, as well as Ribena. Beyond that the store is a mixture of exotic cheeses, excellent produce, a deli, health food aisles and the British butchery. This butchery is especially known for its Nova Scotia lamb, which is the best I've bought anywhere around here. The beef steaks are a close second. Needless to say, due to the nature of the products sold here, the prices are exorbitant.. I keep Pete's as a treat to go buy a few luxury food items if I haven't entirely blown my food budget for the month. If my budget hasn't been blown yet, it's sure to be so once I'm done at the Frootique. While many of the items are quite unique, there are many food items that are..items which can be purchased at your regular grocery store for half the price (ie. many of the dairy products). I also think the space the store occupies is much too small... you constantly feel like you're in a traffic jam trying to navigate the narrowly jam packed aisles, and always a hair breadth away from knocking things over.. the store is so cramped, I picture knocking something over as having a domino effect.. dropped a bag of chips?...there goes the whole aisle. The check out staff are fast, friendly and on the ball with keeping registers open. I don't necessarily see this as good customer service, though... since the store is so cramped, if long lines were to form then customers in line to pay would take up half the retail space (I've seen this happen here more than once).
