I have to say, the pancakes were a bit on the dry side though. Also, the eggs were sunny side up but didn't actually seem fried at all, as they were super soft without any crispiness. In addition, they didn't even add the slightest amount of seasoning on there - at least a few pepper flakes would have been nice (although there was pepper on the table, but still). The homestyle fries were well-cooked with a good crispiness though. The restaurant has a lower level with some seating as well as a larger upper level. It has a sort of old-timey kind of vibe, with wood panels along the walls and ceiling and a little performance stage in the back. It is conveniently located right next to the Canary Wharf tube station. My waitress was average friendliness and was only moderately attentive, as she never checked up on me during my meal. She also waited until I actually got my food to bring me my water. Overall, The Breakfast Club is a solid option for breakfast/brunch in Canary Wharf with pretty much any of the classics that you could want.

Bonus points if you have short and tall (long?) stacks. And double-bonus if you print "flapjack" on the menu. Enough about the pancakes (my wife is saying). She doesn't even like breakfast so don't listen to her (she'd skip if I weren't always dragging her out somewhere for it). Her loss. But just one more pancake point: I got the blueberry short stack. It wasn't epic but it was a solid +6-7. That works, given my earlier frou-frou comments. I couldn't tell and maybe the maple syrup was imported from Canada (eh), but we are spoilt with our Vermont supply. So no points gained/lost there. I didn't get any baked beans (yes because this was breakfast), but my bacon was tasty as were my two Americanos (aka coffees). If I had for some reason wanted pre-noon beans...I'm sure they would have been lovely, along with all the other varied menu choices I didn't have room to sample. Service was fast and efficient, and they endured my lingering into late-morning. By the time I left it had stopped raining. Will wonders never cease.

The frittata emerged from the oven about 15 minutes later and it was served alongside two generous portions of salad...the taste of it all was very good - I especially liked that the frittata had a sweet taste to it! We had the brunch bowl, both with bacon and halloumi. Both were scrumptious, with perfectlly soft boiled eggs, crispy potatoes, a generous portion of beans, and thick toast. The halloumi was especially good, grilled and perfectly salty. We also tried the housemade granola, which was served with plum and yogurt. It was very good, though I wish there was more yogurt in the yogurt:granola ratio. The pastries are all on display at the front, and we had a few that were both delicious. It's clear they bake these in house. In fact, everything felt like it was right out of Grandma's kitchen, and in the best possible way. A great way to start the day.

I was not keen on the bacon, but that's probably because it was smoked and I'm not a fan of food tasting like sweet smoke. My fellow breakfastarians between them tried the Eggs Special Royal (to celebrate our new princess!) which was apparently delicious, but came with cold avocado under the egg, which made the temperature of the whole dish a little odd. The waiter asked me what spice I'd like and as a bit of a wimp, I opted for a 3 out of 10 and it was absolutely perfect - garnished with green olives, celery, a lemon wedge and a sprinkle of pepper. Divine! I stayed at The Gantry for the majority of my day working and therefore spoke with the staff a few times. I enquired as to a nearby plug and the waiter found me one behind an armchair and plugged my charger in for me as well - very kind! Alex ordered the Birdie Breakfast and I, the poached egg, lime and avocado salad served with toast and hollandaise sauce! The food took longer than it should but as I explained, I understood why. Once arrived it was most definitely worth the wait... Both dishes were fantastic - Alex said his Birdie breakfast was "the best breakfast I've had in london"! And for me every mouthful was a true taste sensation. The avocado salsa was fresh and tangy and when put against the crunch of the toast, harshness of the hollandaise and the softness of the yolk, everything complemented itself perfectly. It was a dream. In total the two meals, a coffee and a can of orange cost just under £20 - I would have paid more for the quality and felt this very reasonable! We'll definitely be back!

Like apartment listings, what some might call cramped I call cozy. There are potted flowers and lots of knickknacks all around. Even the bathroom is cute. And who can beat a door made from a phone booth? I like being able to see what's going on in the kitchen too - it feels hectic but fun. For food, I've tried the veggie burger, lamb burger, chicken burger (my fave), and chips (always extra-crispy), and seen table-mates get the falafel and the chicken salad. The veggie burger needs something to hold it together better; it kind of became a mess as I ate it, but a yummy mess at that. The burgers really are as big as your face, so if you get chips on the side, it's enough to be a meal for two. I've also had the breakfast fry up, which is definitely enough for two. It came with egg, sausage, bacon, beans, mushroom, tomato, and toast. So deliciously yummy, especially on a cold morning.

The bacon was cooked to perfection, crispy and salty goodness. I wasn't a huge fan of the egg as it was slightly overcooked but when mixed with everything else it was a great breakfast. Highly recommend a visit, even if just for the overall atmosphere and friendliness. We'll be back!
