The conduct displayed here is not only unprofessional but a complete violation of civil rights and basic human decency. An officer arrived at a home in a quiet neighborhood and, when nobody answered, simply let himself in. There was no emergency, no warrant, and no permission. Minutes later, he shot and killed the family's beloved Belgian Malinois, Zelda. The homeowners were not there--the husband was at work, the wife was out of town, and the four children were at school. Zelda was simply doing her job: protecting her home from an intruder. Instead of immediately contacting the family to inform them of this tragedy, the officer called for backup. An "army" of police arrived and proceeded to circle the wagons. For 40 minutes, they searched the family's home, garage, and backyard--again, without a warrant, without permission, and without notifying the homeowners. To date, there seems to be no accountability. No apology, no compensation for the trauma inflicted, and no prosecution for the officer who unlawfully entered a private residence and killed a family member. This department needs to be held accountable for this gross overreach and the heartbreaking loss of Zelda. Citizens should feel safe in their homes, not terrified of the people hired to protect them.

I've been pulled over only once by these guys and nothing bad happened. So that was nice. Having said that I don't appreciate getting pulled over in the first place - especially when I didn't do anything wrong. As I walked by snagging some pictures I saw an inviting sign so decided to walk in. Free to the public and did the self-guided tour. It was such a nice detour and so glad I did. The old Library inside, rotunda, and old Senate chambers were especially cool to see. I tried imagine of what it was like in those halls in the mid-1800's. A whole week and wasted 6.95 when Fedex or UPS would have done it in 2 or 3 days and you wonder why these people loose money cry bankruptcy? they are pathetic. I wish the USPS would be privatized, they are protected employees so they don't care, they get their paycheck anyway whether customer is happy or not. Of course, my case was dismissed. My ex-lawyer let us appear before a magistrate as a corporation with no legal counsel. She gave us no warning that that situation is an immediate dismissal of the case. I had detailed a lot of other travesties created by my ex-lawyer in my previous review. I cannot recreate the review as of yet. A professional in the legal field actually suggested that I report my ex-lawyer to the bar. She was that bad. I will submit proof to Yelp that I did have a case with the bar in the future. Fight for your rights. Especially when someone has no passion for their career, but just wants you to pay for her and her husband's constant vacations.

The memorial currently honors eight individuals who died in the line of service. The officers showed a commitment to duty, honor, service and safety for those who live and work in Raleigh. The memorial is in Downtown Raleigh at the Raleigh Municipal Building near Nash Square. The memorial has a water feature and 21 pillars that represents the community from which the water flows. At sunset, the water table reflects the sky and illuminates the names in blue. I've not seen the memorial at night but will make sure I stop when I am in Downtown Raleigh at night to pay tribute to these officers.

The Memorial is in Nash Square in Downtown Raleigh and across the street from a fire station. The large memorial is a bronze statue with four firefighters. Three firefighters are rescuing a fourth that was under a steel beam. The names of the fallen heroes who have died since 1902 had to be redone as they ran out of room as unfortunately more names needed to be added. They also include those who have died of heart attacks and car accidents. If you are near Nash Square make sure to stop by this memorial.
