I feel a burning, lurking darkness in my heart as I reflect on this frustrating experience. I arrived at Strictly on a Stick (Knott's Berry Farm) on Saturday (around 5:30PM). Line moved fairly quickly. It took six minutes to reach the counter. Staff is professional and pleasant. Staff worked quickly. My Hand Dipped Corn Dog Basket ($16.49) arrived in less than three minutes. So fast! Ambiance is non-existent. It's a food stall near Panda Express. Customers will need to wander a few minutes to find a place to eat. There's no music. It's just an unmemorable spot. Overall, Strictly on a Stick (Knott's Berry Farm) sells overpriced food that oozes with laziness and low-effort. If you own a microwave and a frozen packet, I am confident that you could cook better food than Strictly on a Stick (Knott's Berry Farm). ZERO out of 5 "AVOID!"

The man putting the orders together was just standing there. The man who was in front of me was Asian. The woman at the counter kept trying to Get me to take a drink he ordered. She assumed I must be with him because I was Asian too. I kept telling her I was NOT with him but it would not register with her. I finally got the man who was waiting on the side to get his drink. It was very annoying. Then a 2nd window opened and I they were taking orders from people that were not even in line!!! When I confronted the lady when I was taking my order, she just sheepishly apologized with no sincerity. Calico tater bites needs to do better if efficiency and customer service.

Carne asada isn't bad but it's not my favorite protein here. 2) Carnitas chili verde over shoestring fries - I ask for the fries to be crispy when I order this one as it can get soggy due to the juices/sauce of the carnitas. Served with pico de gallo and sour cream. The kids and I love this one. 3) Cotija Garlic Butter shoestring fries - this one by far is my favorite. It is served with two types of cheese as well as garlic butter. It doesn't come with a protein, so I go to Casa California right across the way and buy some carnitas. The carnitas from Casa California are SO good. Like actually SO GOOD. Do this. You'll thank me later. I have yet to try the elote and chili cheese fries or even the sweet potato fries but I will soon. Portions are a bit deceiving as the box is small but it is really packed and we can never finish the entire box in one sitting. This place offers the usual fountain beverages but also carries beer, chelada, margarita, hot coffee and hot chocolate. Seating is all outdoor as this place is an order and pickup kind of service. Staff is on and off here. Some are pretty darn crabby. We had one young lady who's name starts with an A, give one of my teens huge attitude when they tried to ask for the fries to be cooked crispy with pico de gallo on the side. She flat out said that couldn't be done and rolled her eyes at them. This was false. Fries could be cooked crispy and salsa on the side. We always order our food this way. Every other worker did this and receipts would even show that request. Every time we see "A" there, we just hope and keep our fingers crossed that we don't get her again. That may be the case at Knott's, too, but Calico Fry Co. simply does not fall into this category. This is good, man, really good. The menu is small, so if you can find something that you'd like, all the better. All three of us did. The Hunny went all the way with the cowboy chili special, I got the chili fries, and the girl got plain ol' fries. They're not the best fries I've had, but they're good, and the chili has a bold taste that adds lots of flavor. The cheese alternates between melted and not. Yes, the chili is a mess! The price point would be appropriate for outside the park. A note should be made about the drinks. It's the normal offerings. Then I saw that Calico Fry offers Knott's Berry Punch, a drink probably found nowhere else. I paid a dollar more for it. Walter Knott started his fortune merchandising the boysenberry, a huge sweet purple berry. This berry was put into the punch, making for a thirst-quenching punch with just the right amount of tartness. The others had a taste, they liked it too, and the girl bought a concentrate bottle of the stuff to take home with us. Bottom line: if you're at Knott's at eating time, you don't need to leave the park to get good inexpensive food, like you should do at the Mouse Kingdom. They offer a few different variety's of fries of these I've only ever ordered the Chuckwagon Cheese Fries & Cowboy Fries. The Chuckwagon Cheese Fries is a similar concept of what you would find to be the animal fries at in-in out lots of grilled onions a tangy thousand island type dressing with a bit of cheddar sprinkled on top scrumptious! The Cowboy Fries are basically carne asada fries with guacamole sour cream over a bed of fries not the best thing for you but it will fill you up and it's relatively cheap compared to other places inside the park to eat. During the Boysenberry Festival Calico Fry Co was offering up all kinda goodness with the fried alligator, cheese curds, and other various fried concoctions that were infused with boysenberry in some type of way either inside a dipping sauce or in the item itself definitely an awesome selection for park food! They give you a good size portion of fries so this is a great thing to share with your kiddos or your friend. We will be back here at one point for fries or their delicious Boysenberry Punch that's sure to fuel you for your adventures through Knott's! That's where the goodness stops. If you absolutely insist on purchasing food from this place, I think you're probably better off getting a potato dish instead of opting for the food to be served in a bread bowl. Why is that? If you take a look at my attached photos, you can see that the bread bowl is small, super dense, hard, very dry and stale, not hollowed out to make room for the Mac n cheese making the already small portion a lot smaller. We ended up not enjoying the Mac n cheese meal at all and had to buy food somewhere else because it 1) sucked, 2) extremely small portion, 3) it was also inedible. We left there very disappointed and frustrated that we used a dining plan meal which went to waste.
