Robbie came up with ingenious fix requiring some custom carpentry so that the spice rack did not disappear but became an integral of the whole. He encouraged us not to give up on what we wanted the project to look like even though other renovators had told us it was impossible to do. The quality for our project was pretty bad. We had to ask them to redo the work in many areas. Mark seldom showed up to supervise the project. When signing the contract, Mark promised a start date for the project . Then he kept postponing the starting date. In our situation, it was about 4 weeks later than the date agreed upon. He always has various reasons to postpone projects. Another common scam is that Mark constantly looked for various reasons to ask for pre-payments even before he started the job. He then use the prepaid money to cover other holes rather than your project. It happened to us, and the people we knew that used him for home remodeling. At some point, he had no money to pay for the subcontractors who worked on our project after we had paid him. The project was dragged on for some time as a result. Definitely not recommend to use Brookside Builders located in Darien CT based on our experience and other people's who used him in the past.

After a site meeting and and the initial excitement of a new project, they essentially ignored our calls and emails and went completely incommunicado. The receptionists made repeated promises that the principals would return our calls by the end of the day, but, alas, day after day it was not to be. Since we were working against a move-in deadline, the lack of communication for several weeks put us hopelessly behind the eight ball, so we had to move into a construction site, rather than the finished project we were promised. So, unless you have a project with enough zeroes to get their attention or have unlimited time to accommodate their lackadaisical schedule, I would avoid them like the plague!
