Got a time early Saturday afternoon 4/22/17. We got there a bit late, since my teenage daughter and friend asked if I could drop them off at the movies, we live in Plainview. They were very understanding. The owners son was there to get us going. They have 4 cages and can have use of a manual fed pitching machine, no extra! We had 3 boys and they charged just $15 for an hour. Hope I don't get anyone in trouble, cause that seems cheap. Since there wasn't anyone else at the time, they were nice enough to let the 2 who weren't hitting off the machine to use a t-ball stand in the next cage. It was very well kept, clean and organized. Can't wait to go back. Thanks! Oh, they do take credit cards, they use the Square attached to a phone.

Academy Sports + Outdoors in Lubbock, TX, helped me score big for my big kiddo…read more Back on December 27, 2025, I came here with my parents and their friend to take a looksee. I had never before been to an Academy, but my mom suggested them as a place to search for a new karate bag for my daughter. I found one right away. Under Armour. $50. It seemed/seems sturdier than her last bag and certainly larger to fit all her new gear. Meanwhile, I liked their Texas Tech gear. They sold a variety colors of Crocs - mainly just plain styles. Some cool Hey Dudes. Women's workout gear. Kid's and adult ear protection - not only for shooting ranges, but those body rumbling car/truck race events too. And that day they had 20% off these super cool looking Mom bags by bogg. Perfect for the basketball, football or softball moms that tote around everything else everyone appreciates. Quick-moving checkout lines. Nice service at the register. Place could be cleaner, but overall I was satisfied.

The MLK Soccerplex is the premier outdoor soccer complex in Hobbs, NM…read more It's located on the south side of town on the Eunice Highway. The parking can get chaotic because the spots are crowded in some areas. Plus many folks don't take the time to park between the lines. The lanes are also tight. Once on the field, the soccer fields are not marked. So when the soccer league gives you a map, make sure to screenshot it and save it to your smart phone. The fields this year (March/April 2023) could use a bit of deweeding and more grass care. Field H where my daughter plays is fairly uneven & bumpy. Additionally, if it ever rains here, the fields will surely flood as all 8 soccer fields are in this giant pit-like situation. While there are bleachers, they are a bit on the small side. I suggest bringing foldout chairs. There is also the following: + restrooms + BBQ Grill + pavillions + lights + picnic tables + and a concrete walking trail.

This place has a few pitfalls that keep me from not purchasing a yearly membership: First off, the wait to get to where you're going can be a bit much. The lines are a bit confusing as it is. They've since simplified it within the 9 months that I have lived here, but it could be even more simpler. Second, the clientele are less than appeasing. I tend to cause like a sailor, but not in public. It gets old. Amenities: + cardio equipment on the top floor + free weights, plate loaded, and selectorized machines on the bottom floor + gym (the floor is lined for basketball, volleyball, pickleball, four-square & shuffleboard) + indoor track + lap pool + locker room + personal trainer available + racquetball courts (2 available... reservations also available) + splash pad + spa (for ages 13 years & up) + sports programs (adult & youth) + studio & wellness classes + turf (soccer, flag football, ultimate frisbee, & golf) + water slides (4' & taller) My girls have participated in the volleyball classes here which were okay, but not very competitive. Just this past weekend (5/6/2023) I took the to the splash area for the first time area. Even though I declined to swim, I was still charged admission ($4 for the entire day). My 8 & 9-year-olds were charged $3 apiece for entry. In the splash area which is completely indoors, there are two sets of bleachers and multiple individual lounge chairs and side tables scattered all around. Free parking.

In Jefferson's defense, it is on the south side of town - meaning it's too far for most Hobbsans to consider - plus it's tucked away in a lesser known area. I used to teach at the elementary nearby over 10 years ago... I don't recall any of this being within short walking distance of the school: + basketball courts + bbq grills + lights + pavilions + picnic tables + playground + restrooms + sand volleyball courts + soccer goals + youth baseball fields (still referred to as Bensing Park) + & a .80-mile walking path I give this city park 4 stars because while it has great amenities, it is not at all debris-free nor is it in a particularly nice neighborhood.

There may have been other items, but they didn't stand out. I'm the last person who likes all the bright flashy colors in this place. Some of the shoes especially look gaudy. Guess that's still the style. The plainest items for purchase where the baseball/softball gloves. Lol. I just know what I like for workout clothes and running shoes. Didn't see anything I would purchase here. For my kiddos, though, it's nice to know this place has alternatives to Big 5, Walmart, and whatever else I'm missing in this small town. This shop is located in a plaza across from Walmart. Free parking. The staff greeted me, but that was about it. I suppose they sensed that I was less than impressed with the women's stuff and didn't need assistance.

Beautiful little neighborhood park…read more Stopped by because the scenery was gorgeous. Even in the winter this place was beautiful. Not many people, and it was pretty clean. There was a small pond with ducks and geese. There's plenty of open and shaded benches, sidewalk trails, sandbox, and a jungle gym for the little ones.
