Staff does not manage the lap pool. There's an adjacent rec pool which these patrons should be channeled to. This doesn't happen. Also be aware that their deck clock is 4-5 minutes ahead of time & you will be asked to get out earlier than the actual time. This clock was also running ahead of time last summer. I guess they like it like this. The water is VERY warm.

This topography with the boundary of large shade trees and a large open area makes this the perfect spot to play with the pup. You can rarely drive by without seeing a lab or two playing with each other or chasing down a frisbee. Plentiful parking and its central location makes this my choice when letting the dogs run and be crazy

This area is also home to MacKenzie Park Lake. Watching the water birds on the partially frozen water was both soothing and amusing on Christmas Day (2022). There were multiple benches, picnic areas, a playground, reserved picnic pavilions, restrooms, and a seasonal snack concession area. Entry was free at least during the winter. There was close access to Interstate 27. On the days my daughters & I visited, it was hard to tell if RVs & truck drivers would find this to be an easy pit stop to access as there were road closures due to a sewer renovation project.

Patterson Park is the "Central Park" of Wolfforth. Located right off US82, it's easy access as you…read morecome into town. The largest parking area is accessible off of the frontage road beside the pond. There is a gravel road that wraps around the outside of the park connecting through multiple separate parking areas, eventually arriving at the community center. The pond water level is quite low these days. It's for fishing only, though I can't imagine wanting to do anything but look at it and listen to the circulation fountain - it's kinda gross and smelly. Nearby is a playground for the kids with monkey bars, swing set, slide, and jungle gym. Several covered picnic tables fill the area near the pond. These are probably great in the summer for keeping you out of the sun. The park is dotted with pecan, pine, and oak trees. Great, welcome respite from the flat monotony of West Texas. The back corner has a football field with field goals which can also be used for soccer. The primary remaining space contains five baseball fields, four of which join at the center around a two storey announcers' building. Between all of this is a covered stage/performance area, albeit without permanent seating in place in front. There's a single basketball hoop on a concrete pad, but not a second one or a full court. Right beside the stage is a small community center building. There's the remains of what was once a volleyball court, though I can hardly call it that in the current condition. A walking path on dirt, gravel, and grass traces the circumference around the park. This would make for a decent place to run, which appeals most to me. My original photos are from December 2022. At the time, the park is relatively empty due to the cold, windy winter and a only really a haven for the migrating Canada goose flocks. There are usually decent crowds of people using the baseball fields here in summer. There is a general feeling of abandonment and disrepair, though. I chock this up mostly to the harshness of our climate, but definitely see room for improvements where the city of Wolfforth could invest some time and money to improve things at their one and only park.

You can drive all over the park and see prairie dogs. I went at 9am and 5pm and they were always out everywhere. You can buy lettuce and carrots to feed them; they will likely run into a hole when you throw out food, but it's fun to see them snack on it. Throw food, drive into another area, then come back and watch them. It's right off I27 and easy to access. A must when visiting Lubbock!

It costs a bit more then the crappy gyms in town, but the service and facilities cannot be beat. It is rarely too crowded to workout and almost always easy to park. Having tried Gold's Gym, Planet Fitness, and Bodyworks I can say with all honesty that the money spent here is better then anyplace in town.

For my own uses it's acceptable. There's a fairly well worn two track in the dirt that goes around almost the entire circumference of the large central lake. This makes for good pseudo trail running. It seems popular for fishing, but I can't imagine it's hospitable to life. Birds occasionally gather here, but I see them more often at other lake parks like Patterson and Dunbar. There's no real water circulation here. It's basically a playa lake turned holding pond for rain runoff. Probably the most popular feature is the very modern and clean four-field youth baseball complex. Once you work your way over the pitted asphalt at the entrance, there's plenty of parking by the fields. A very basic park here otherwise with only a few uses but the best "trails" on this side of town.
