It's the one patch of grass around town where I can actually imagine going barefoot. Only that, then the bird poo would be the issue. There's a playground for the kids, lots of plump shade trees, and a sidewalk around the circumference. I have never seen this park empty. In fact, it's always practically bustling.

This topography with the boundary of large shade trees and a large open area makes this the perfect spot to play with the pup. You can rarely drive by without seeing a lab or two playing with each other or chasing down a frisbee. Plentiful parking and its central location makes this my choice when letting the dogs run and be crazy

I visited the Lubbock Lake Landmark because they have a couple of hiking trails, a 4 mile and a 1…read moremile. Somehow when I heard park I expected trees. But this is like a dry lakebed that is also an archaeological site and they have a neat little museum. It has fossils, indian artifacts, and displays about the past history of the area. The museum is geared more towards middle school aged children, had some neat exhibits of things they found in the landmark, wasn't all that big. There are some large bronze statues of ice age animals outside the museum that are cool. And it's free to get in too. There is a handicapped-accessible trail behind the museum that is like a slightly raised boardwalk that I assume would showcase digs, but there weren't any going on. I went in early January though and they said Spring and Summer are the best times for digs. The long trail is not handicapped-accesible, it is gravel and quite long and meandering. It went by a prairie dog burrow, but I didn't see any. Possibly because some other people aead of us were hiking with several dogs. Dogs are not allowed there according to the parking lot sign. There are some picnic areas near the museum that are nice, and I spotted about 10 different bird species including 3 different types of raptors and some coyote tracks. It would probably be nicer to go here in the spring because I saw remains of many different flowering plants and it would be a more attractive walk then.

Clean water, friendly staff, gets busy but never too crowded, lots of options for hanging out in the water, lots of parking, great music playing, extremely alert lifeguards, clean restrooms and over-all the best private pool I have ever been to. The only negative is the SLOW SLOW check-in if you are sponsoring guests.

Don't come to this pool later in the afternoons hoping to get a decent lap swimming experience! The…read morelap pool lanes are taken over by non-swimmers, walking, talking & splashing about. Staff does not manage the lap pool. There's an adjacent rec pool which these patrons should be channeled to. This doesn't happen. Also be aware that their deck clock is 4-5 minutes ahead of time & you will be asked to get out earlier than the actual time. This clock was also running ahead of time last summer. I guess they like it like this. The water is VERY warm.

People like to complain that with a pass you don't get access to other areas that they don't control is dumb, it's like saying I paid for a McDonald's gift card and not a single burger king accepts that payment. These areas they try very hard to keep clean and safe and although I may not agree with everything done with these places they try and I love them for it. During extended dry periods the lake all but disapears but it's great when the lake is up a few feet.

Each spot has a roofed picnic table, and a ground fire pit and a trail down to the lake since the sites are on the hill. Had to trek up here because Lake Colorado City closes. Only rating for camping. Showers and restrooms are down by the boat ramp. They are pretty clean along with the restrooms. Showers are quarter machine operated for water conservation purposes. $0.50 for 3 minutes. I splurged an extra quarter for 4.5min and due to tough and dirty Army training, I ended up enjoying a high pressure extra 2 minutes of pure watery delight. So if you can combat shower, you'll be just fine with 2 quarters. :) Wrote the top portion upon arrival at night. Taking a star due to how darn dirty the place was. Trash EVERYWHERE even though the site had 2 large barrel trash cans :( Stupid, dirty people. Pics attached. Wear shoes and be careful using the trails down to the water due to so much glass.

This is a decent conveniently located park just off the highway across from a busy…read morecommercial/retail area. It's probably the biggest park on this side of town. For my own uses it's acceptable. There's a fairly well worn two track in the dirt that goes around almost the entire circumference of the large central lake. This makes for good pseudo trail running. It seems popular for fishing, but I can't imagine it's hospitable to life. Birds occasionally gather here, but I see them more often at other lake parks like Patterson and Dunbar. There's no real water circulation here. It's basically a playa lake turned holding pond for rain runoff. Probably the most popular feature is the very modern and clean four-field youth baseball complex. Once you work your way over the pitted asphalt at the entrance, there's plenty of parking by the fields. A very basic park here otherwise with only a few uses but the best "trails" on this side of town.
