Staff does not manage the lap pool. There's an adjacent rec pool which these patrons should be channeled to. This doesn't happen. Also be aware that their deck clock is 4-5 minutes ahead of time & you will be asked to get out earlier than the actual time. This clock was also running ahead of time last summer. I guess they like it like this. The water is VERY warm.

This area is also home to MacKenzie Park Lake. Watching the water birds on the partially frozen water was both soothing and amusing on Christmas Day (2022). There were multiple benches, picnic areas, a playground, reserved picnic pavilions, restrooms, and a seasonal snack concession area. Entry was free at least during the winter. There was close access to Interstate 27. On the days my daughters & I visited, it was hard to tell if RVs & truck drivers would find this to be an easy pit stop to access as there were road closures due to a sewer renovation project.

Scottie and Laney were on it-super helpful with any and everything and were great with the kids. Every adult in attendance commented on their friendly professionalism. I don't have children of my own, but if the love my niece and nephew have for this place says anything, it must be great (I mean, the 4 year old wanted her party here)! The kids seemed to have a blast and it was hard to make them leave. Having been to other gymnastic gyms in Lubbock without AC, I was very excited that this gym was nice and cool.
