Wedington Animal Hospital

They saved my toy poodle, Hamish…read more I called my regular vet, who had seen 11-year-old Hamish (and our other dogs) since he was a tiny puppy after he was attacked by another dog. I asked if I can bring him in right away. They said, "We can't fit you in. Sorry." I begged and said he might die. They did not care. They told me they might be able to fit me in the NEXT DAY in the afternoon. I slammed down the phone and said I'd never be back. I called Wedington Animal Hospital, and they didn't ask any questions. They said to bring him in IMMEDIATELY. I did, and they saved him. He was there for a couple of days, and they made sure he would recover and be OK. They will always be our vets as long as we live in this area. Hamish loved the people, and he's now 12 years old and as feisty as ever. Thanks for taking care of our little guy, Wedington Animal Hospital. You are the place we always recommend to people who ask for references. (I also tell them who NOT to go to ... *cough* Cornerstone Animal Hospital ... *cough*.)

I called at 11:20 and talked to the front desk about my concerns for my dog. I told him the…read moresymptoms, he asked no questions and then went and I assume talked to the vet. He came back and told me that my dog should be fine to wait until the morning based on the symptoms. He did not ask any questions about breed or size. I have a poodle and they are known to have bloat which can cause serious internal problems. I mentioned this to the person the phone and he stated "bloat wasn't one of our concerns when we discussed the symptoms" again, he did not know the breed and in my stress I didn't tell him. I went home and 30 minutes later found my dog crying and trying to throw up and being unable to. I promptly took him to the Animal Emergency and Specialty Center of NWA and as soon as I told them symptoms, he was greeted by a nurse and I was talking to the Dr 15 minutes later about emergency surgery. My dog would not be here if I had listened to this vet and I feel it is because it was 40 minutes to close and they didn't want to have a potential later night than their closing time of 12. Glad I listened to my guy. They may not be bad but they don't ask enough questions to care about your pet.
