Teriyaki steak soba

Dont usually give a two to restaurant. But this is worth it to give the two. Well i guess the stereotype is true british people know food taste because all the food just bland have to add so many sauces to make it even has any taste. Imagine eating something tasteless its the worst. I dont even know how do this get 4 stars and above so not worth it. All just bland and not recommended. The katsu banana just use weird wrong katsu breadcrumbs and the ice cream was the worse. Do not get this. How do i know? Well i have eaten so many asian food to know that is one of the worst well at least better than maui poke obviously and itsu and wasabi. Not recommended and dont waste your time.

This Wagamama location is really good. The food was great. It was shockingly good. The staff took time to explain the allergens and made my food to order. The management is good. But again, most importantly the food was awesome. I got the grilled duck donburi and enjoyed every bit of it.

I have seen this place located all around the London area, so when my friends decided to choose eating at Wagamama I was ready to see what the hype is about. Unfortunately, I was not as impressed as I expected. Noted I am eating at a shopping mall and maybe they do not put as much love at this location, although it was pretty full on a Sunday. The service was not the greatest. Our waiter was not that friendly and often unavailable. We had to ask another server to call him when we were ready to order. He also seemed a little irritated. Service seems like an area of improvement for Wagamama. My food was okay, I got the vegetarian version of their signature dish. My tastebuds were not jumping for joy. I honestly felt like I could do without the food. Yikes! I doubt I would come here again. But just because it's not for me does not mean that you will not enjoy it (unless you live through me from my reviews and are under the assumption that we have similar tastes).

Chicken katsu curry- huge sticky rice portion!

This was my first experience of a wagamamas, which is rather surprising considering my love for Japanese food, and I was relatively impressed. Although I will forever prefer a one off to a chain, it was nice, quite a canteeny feel- so not somewhere to go for anything romantic, but clean and bustley without being too loud. We were sat quickly and we were warned about the food timings being staggered. I went for the chicken katsu curry, which was wonderful, my father the beef teriyaki, where the beef was cooked perfectly. I wasn't too fond of the dressing on my salad, as it smelt a little bit like the beard of a smoker (don't ask how I know that) and my father's tropical juice was lovely apart from him wishing it was colder, as lukewarm fruit juice just isn't as nice, but after I dutifully fished out the ice cubes from my drink with my fingers and handing them over, he thoroughly enjoyed it!

Nice place and nice restaurant. The plates were wonderful. However, it did not taste as good as it looked... I recommend their juices which are surprising!

High quality Japanese food in a nice environment. I came for weekday lunch and got the premium set…read moremenu (48 GBP). The first course was some spinach leaves in a sweet sauce and it was actually better than expected. It then came with 3 pieces of sashimi which I could tell were very fresh and melted in my mouth. There was also a tiny container of tuna tartare. Lastly, for my choice of protein, I went with the black cod, which was a nice soft consistency and cooked well. The sauce on the side also added some nice sweet flavor to complement the fish. While the food was good, I do feel that 48 GBP is slightly on the high side considering the small portion sizes. The interior of the restaurant has some elegant and classy decor. That's probably why so many people come for business lunches here (plus the location). The staff are average friendliness, although the service speed was kind of slow. It was also weird that they for some reason couldn't find our reservation in their system but we were still able to get a table nonetheless. Overall, I think ROKA is a very choice choice if you are looking for a fancier Japanese meal than your typical sushi restaurant.

Roka is basically a typical faux luxury establishment of the type that has been popularized over the years in areas of low culture and/or regions where a particular cusine doesn't really exist. You know the type: pictures of beautiful people and food, tasteful font for the establishment, and a quick look at the about section of the restaurant reveals it's place as part of group founded by a bunch of executives; it's not so much a restaurant as it is an exercise in corporate branding. When you visit, you'll notice that the clientel reflects that branding design as well. Everyone here looks like they're part of a vertical strategy that includes the workers at the firm itself, the final spot on a flow chart diagram where the staff themsleves are the primary customer for the product and then a line arches back to the beginning of the flow to further inform strategic planning for more pan something restaurants. The name of this group could be called Ouroboros but that might be a little on the nose. Most izakayas on Planet Earth have better food that what you'll get here and for far less money. This said, you won't get to enjoy a space filled with the finance crowd who are all tastefully lit to ensure their Instagram selfies look good enough for them to tag themselves with the establishment. Service is slow and aloof. Skip it.

The tonkotsu pork broth was very creamy, rich, and well-seasoned, and the firm noodles offered a very good taste as I ate them together with all the ingredients. The "water" taste was relatively minimal. The pork belly was a bit overcooked and falling apart, by which time I realized there was a bit less meat than I had anticipated but more of the fatty skin part. I just think the broth was a big plus and could make me comfortably say that the ramen I had was great. I know making the tare and the broth takes a long time so while I am not sure Ippudo is exactly following that process, I do see efforts in trying. Both the chicken kara-age and the takoyaki tasted like what they were supposed to taste like, with the oroshi ponzu sauce providing the chicken with a bit of new flavor on top of the already flavorful chicken. The chicken was juicy, too! Juice was flowing out of the breading as I took a bite. The takoyaki had the standard amount of octopus, which was a tiny bit. The matcha brownie was not bad, but lacked matcha flavor and was a bit too hard. It took me a bit to cut it open with my fork which I normally wouldn't be expecting from brownies. Based on the fact that it was cold, I thought it might have been frozen previously. It was well-decorated, but the fact that it was frozen most likely affected how hard it was, along with how less tasteful it was. It was still sweet, but like I mentioned previously, lacked matcha flavor. Another thing I noticed was that the service was slow. It took us a while to get out food. And despite me saying to bring the dessert along with everything else, they still brought out the dessert towards the very end and when we inquired about it, said that they were waiting on us to ask to bring the dessert. Just want to bring it up as a miscommunication instance, but totally not a big deal and it didn't impact my experience negatively at all.

However, I really enjoyed my ramen at this particular location. I had the modern tonkatsu ramen and it was both rich and flavorful without being too heavy. The chasu was tender and delicious. And, the samurai ginjo sake really made the rest of the evening pass by nicely. Service was fine.

'Asta' (as I like to simply call it) - I have no idea of the '3' moniker, or indeed where the first…read moretwo went - is as genuine a Japanese canteen as you'll find in London. I was lucky enough to, along with a colleague, be taken here on several occasions for a quick lunch by a client (indicative of how welcoming the Japanese are!) By 'genuine' I mean no dumbed-down menus, no super-slick interiors to detract from potentially average food, and no gimmicks of any kind. The place is staffed and run by Japanese nationals as any self-respecting Japanese restaurant should be - and perhaps more importantly, frequented by them regularly, too. Service is smiling and attentive and no more that it needs to be. The food is inexpensive (~£6-8 for a bento, £7-11 for ramen, udon or donburi) and so tasty. On my most recent trip I had beef ramen with tan tan (sesame paste) soup base, and my brother had salmon teriyaki on brown rice. Both dishes had generous proportions of meat/fish, and the donburi came with a side salad and pickles. The unagi (eel) is also lovely, and the place does an extensive line in pick-your-soup base noodle bowl dishes where you have the option of shoyu, miso, and sesame as mentioned above, among others. I can't speak for the takeaway bento, but they looked pretty solid and of a decent quality. Drinks come in the familiar (Coke etc) and the more, um, 'traditional' - aloe vera juice, Pocari, cold bottled green and black teas and others. This place is rather hidden away on the fringes of the City, behind Aldgate station on the Petticoat Lane side. In many ways it's a great location as it's very much a local haunt, and in others a little frustrating as even if you're working in the City it can be a fair walk to get there and back! My advice would also be to get there early (between midday and half-past) to ensure a seat, as well as before some of the more popular items on the menu disappear. In brief summary, I couldn't really recommend this place enough if you're in the area. You'll get multi-kudos from any friends Nippon friends (or appreciators of their incredible cuisine) and have a lunch to beat the hell out of an uninspired sandwich / soft-drink combo whilst spending a similarly scant amount of your hard-earned cash. As your fellow diners would say: "itedakimas!"
