Good but not great. Chargrilled pork vermicelli was good - especially the chargrilled meat. But the vermicelli was undercooked and not tender like I prefer it. That's the opposite problem from mushy overcooked vermicelli that I've sometimes encountered at some other Vietnamese restaurants. I also found the amount of sauce and greens underwhelming. After a agonising shopping trip food was needed. I wanted (not really) something healthy so thought mmmm noodle soup. We both ordered the pho bo combo which is basically all the meats in a bowl with soup and noodles (meatballs, steak and brisket) - well I didn't want to be too healthy! We also ordered a side of salt and pepper squid.being nearly 9pm the food was made quickly and was piping hot through. The pho was ok - a bit too salty and the meat balls were very bland. I did like the brisket though! Really soft, juicy meat! Definitely preferred the squid - I liked how it came with the salt on the side so you could sprinkle it over your self. Damn, phone died and didn't get to take pictures. It did look half decent, but certainly looks small! Located on first floor in fancy Westfield food court, don't expect to get a good bargain. Had a special mixed meat pho, and j guess it was a clear disappointment for me. When I have Asian food, I look for authenticity, and in this case, there's really none. It's really just a bowl of noodle soup with a Viet stamp. The acidity in the soup is lacking and the flavour is quite localised. The portion was not that big which is disappointing considering if cost a fair bit! All in all, it was a meal in a food court, and there's really not much more I can say about it. read more

Delicious! I went for dinner with friends and I love that there is so much choice at Westfield. I ordered Ph tái, thinly sliced steak, which was very nice! I love Pho. It's fast, it's easy, it's consistent and it's delicious! Honestly, I've always been a huge noodle/food snob/freak. I couldn't have imagined being a fan of a chain of pho restaurants aptly, if somewhat lazily, named Pho but I guess the world is full of surprises. I've never ordered anything except the pho here but when I eat here it's always been a pleasure. Yes, it's in the food court which is not ideal but I don't let that bother me. I also don't let the fact that other people are staring at me shovelling noodles into my mouth bother me. The vegetable pho is heaven and if I'm more in the mood for something heavier, I'll get a beef pho (not the steak one). Here, their Pho stall on the first floor in Westfield Stratford, is a small place, with a comprehensive menu short-listed from their menu at their larger restaurants. They have, to date, five restaurants in England. Pho is a Vietnamese chain restaurant based on street food. The salad looks generous, slightly on the pale side but tempting. Cold meatball served on top, not crazy about it. Refreshing, well-seasoned and spiced leaves me wanting more! Today, in Westfield stratford, was our first time visiting Pho. The experience did not make me feel welcome. When I came to pick my food up, I brought with me an empty ginger beer can that was on my table from before.The staff member in the serving counter refused to take it, saying quite rudely "You get rid of your rubbish by yourself". So far, strange but I did not make a fuss, just put the can on the counter next to the serving counter, as I needed both hands to take the tray. Then he decided also to tell me off - something like: "You give me rubbish when I handle food". It was the way he said it - really aggressive. How on earth could I have known that?  So I said to him (quite calmly) - you know, you are very rude. He then said: " Why am I rude - because I say what I think?". I said "yes" and went to my table. In the back I heard him laughing loudly. The whole thing was quite unpleasant and humiliating so so we won't be returning to Pho. read more

One of seven current locations, this family-owned cafe is inside the Westfield adjacent to Olympic Park in Stratford. There are a lot of options for food in this mall, but Vietnamese in a mall is not something we find much in the States so I decided to have lunch here. They offer a good variety of snacks, salads, noodles, pho and curries, plus they have beer, wine, fresh juices, tea, coffee, pop and water. The line moves pretty quickly and you're given a buzzer to summon you back for your order. I had the PHO TAI LAN (#15) with flash fried steak and garlic, Hanoi style. Good sized bowl and while not the best pho I've ever had, it's definitely good by mall standards and much healthier than your other choices nearby. I added an APPLE, MINT AND LIME JUICE. I'm a pretty regular visitor to the Pho at Angel, and so I knew what I was getting in to at this branch. Unfortunately I was still a bit disappointed. Obviously it's not the same vibe, having to order at a counter and carry your own food. I could forgive that, but I'm afraid the food just wasn't as good as normal. I like the veggie spring rolls with peanut sauce but here they were a little limp. My wok fried noodles with beef had the right flavours, but they didn't serve it with the same sauce on the side, so it was just a bit bland. This is the first time I've been to a food court based Pho. As you might expect, the food is the same, but you completely lose the ambiance from the normal restaurants. You wouldn't notice this with say, Burger King, unless you've only ever been to intimate versions of their restaurants but with Pho its noticeably absent. I was reminded again to work my way through the menu some more after I ordered since my wife's stir fry was so good. I had the pho with meatballs and steak, which is my go to and it was as good as always. As I always say, Pho is to Asian soups as McDonalds is to burgers. After a long flight from California, we checked into the Holiday Inn located next door to Westfield. Needless to say, we were hungry! Decided to check out Westfield, and we found this place upstairs in one of the food courts. Wife ordered #27 pho with steak and brisket. I had #13 vermicelli with lemongrass chicken. She wasn't too happy with her order. It tasted rather bland even when adding sauces to it. The vermicelli with lemongrass chicken wasn't bad. It had some flavor to it, and was quite a good amount of food. We also ordered a couple of drinks. The apple & ginger juice was tasty. My iced tea was good as well. We never went back here the rest of our stay in London. There are plenty of other options available at Westfield. If I lived in the area, though, I'd give them more chances to impress me. I have to admit, being from the states you have a bias against food in a mall. Its always old tasting and oily. So I didn't have high expectations for this place but I have to admit that this place was delicious!! We did have several other higher-end places to decide from, including chiense, indian Chicago BBQ, sushi and others, but I have been craving pho for a week now being under the weather. I keep eating at this place because I don't know any other pho around my house but every time I leave more and more disappointed. The service is very bad and the food tastes differently every time. This time for example I've got pho and the noodles have an excessive taste of flour, they filled the bowl with them and added three tiny pieces of beef. Another time the herbs were dead. While at the mall, I was craving pho. Roamed in the food court and saw Pho (name of the restaurant), I decided to give it a go. When i received the bowl, I was disappointed but I did not have high hopes for this place to begin with. I ordered the pho combo (brisket & meatballs ), it cost me £8.95. Considering I am vietnamese and I always eat pho at home and when I was in Vietnam... I knew what a high quality pho tasted & looked like! Judging from appearance, it did not look that appetizing, but I ate it all because I was hungry(typical). I did not like the type of noodle they used because Im used to the thin pho noodle!(there was maybe a cup worth of noodle in the bowl). The broth was okay... But the more I drank it, the more I realized how overly salty it was! Last but not least... The beef balls.. One word... Disgusting. Overall rating 3/5, I had worse. I wouldnt say to avoid this place.. But i would say make it a last option to eat, or find a better pho restaurant! read more

We were shopping at Westfield Stratford and well, as always, we got hungry. Usually, we go for italian food but this time, I felt like vietnamese street food. I've been a few tims in Pho restaurants (Upper Street and St John Street, both pretty good) so I knew what to expect. Well, I thought I did. We ordered two Bun, one with meatballs + lemongrass and the other one with mushrooms + tofu. Unexpectedly, they both were disappointing. There was just one spring roll in each Bun, the rice vermicelli looked more like spaghetti, the tofu was too salty (even without the soy sauce), and appart from the salt, the meal was not tasty at all. I couldn't finish and my friend (who's very brave) couldn't finish either. The service was not especially good, but the lady took my allergies seriously and checked if it was safe for me (this is why I gave two stars instead of one)... Nevertheless, next time, I'll have pizza at Franco Manca! read more
