Vegan, gluten-free pho with tofu and mushrooms.

It was cold and rainy. My husband and I were missing home and dying for some hot pho. We tried Union Viet and were greeted by friendly staff and very fresh, hot pho. They are sensitive to food allergies and helped me find a good gluten-free, vegan option. I had the vegan pho and summer rolls. My husband had the vegan pho and the spring rolls. The soup was delicious and made us less homesick for our favorite restaurant in California. We even learned about a new vegetable -they called it SuSu (spelling), which I think is another name for opo squash or bau. Neither of us had had it prior, but it was in the soup and had a great peppery flavor! The only down side was that we tried to go back for more pho the following evening and they were closed. I believe they are closed on Sundays.

I ordered a Coconut Chicken Vermicelli Noodle for delivery with Deliveroo and I like it since meat was good, flavor was delicate and portion was fair.

I discovered Union Viet, through a pho noodle soup challenge. Its quite hidden I thought, not obvious. But it is well decorated, spacious and a good feeling theme about it. - contemporary/ rustic. I certainly enjoyed the brothers working there, very welcoming and friendly, and had a good old chat. I can tell they were passionate about the business. The food was fresh and quality. Spring rolls baked, which is a first for me, to me personally dry, but you can't it have both ways. The broth for the pho was well made and didn't have all that flavouring crap init. Well I completed the challenge, it was not easy, but I want to try their desserts. Mango ice cream. Again really fresh and taste amazing and perfect to help with my digestion. I enjoyed my experience here, and so did my friends. Not usually we would go "hang" and eat at a Vietnamese restaurant, but that's how it felt, and that's saying something.

Visiting from California and the food tastes pretty close to home. The tofu pho was good and the summer rolls (egg rolls) were also really crispy and not too oily. The mango smoothie was not too sweet and not too sour, just right in the middle. Perfect for the hot weather in London at the moment.

I came here with my family during our vacation in Europe, and we were craving some good Vietnamese food since we've been eating rich European food (our tastebuds missed Viet food). Union Viet did not disappoint! We called ahead of time and they were able to accommodate our party of 10 as soon as we walked in. The atmosphere was very warm. I thought the place looked very clean. For starters we had prawn chips and chicken wings. The wings were served with a light fish sauce on top that I wish had more sauce, but it was crispy and hot. The star of the night was the Banh Khot which is a mini fried pancake that has coconut and a shrimp on top. It is a specialty that is usually made in Southern Vietnam and my family was amazed with how authentic it tasted! It came out on a sizzling pan, and we wrapped them in lettuce and dipped it in fish sauce. It was a very nice find! I ordered Pho Bo (beef pho) for dinner and it was not the best pho I've ever had, but it did satisfy my craving. The soup was lighter than I'm used to and the noodles were wider, which reminded me of the instant pho packets you can buy at a grocery store. Most of my family members had the Bun Bo Hue which was the spicy beef soup. They were pleased with their meal and I wish I had ordered that instead. Overall, if looking for a bowl of noodle soup to satisfy your cravings, I would try their Bun Bo Hue, and if you want to try a special Viet dish that is rarely served in other restaurants, then try the Banh Khot and you won't be disappointed! Highly recommended

Thank god you can reserve. I love the pho and the summer rolls. Make sure you get there early or reserve because it fills up really fast.

Back at Pop Brixton as part of the Yelp event and found myself wanting something to warm me up in…read morethe cold and Viet Box seems like the most appetising one there. It's not hard to miss Viet Box but in case you do its in the middle row where Made of Dough is on the end. It's the perfect place if you're looking something fresh and hot and healthy. The decor is quite of quirky and colourful with its multicolour handmade pom pomade dangling from above, lanterns and rainbow coloured handmade signage. They're menu is short and sweet varying from the classic Vietnamese to the more creative modern and fusion, although I wish it could be a bit organised as items on the menu were just listed all over the place and the font face hard to read. Although they sell Banh mi, pho, salads, rice dishes, ceviche, chicken satay and coffee we could only really comment on the Vietnamese Rice Noodles with Beef - Pho Style as its all we had. Vietnamese Rice Noodles with Beef - Pho Style Genuinely surprised at how good our beef pho broth was though. It was full of flavour, complexity and depth like it had been made from many hours of stewing the beef on its bones. Seasoning was perfect too. Noodles were a bit overcooked though and became mushy in my soup but this was saved and contrasted nicely with the crunchy raw beansprouts and deep fried toppings of shallots. The beef came as chunks and were incredibly tender and flavoursome. We also paid the extra £1 for two large Vietnamese beef meatball that were nice and bouncy with a really satisfying chew. Not much to offer in flavour though and tasted store bought but I enjoyed it nevertheless. A good squeeze of lime that it came with and it added a lovely zesty note to make it even more appetising. The owner didn't really communicate much but was friendly enough. Be prepare to wait around 5-10 mins for your food as its not instant ramen here. But what you get in return is pretty worth its wait. If I'm back at Pop Brixton, Viet Box is definitely a place I'll like to revisit and try out more dishes as its not easy to find decent Pho with good broth in London, especially at £7 only.

Raphael totally knows what it up in the kitchen... this little place totally will make you feel like you're actually on the streets of Vietnam but with really good music playing in the background... I'll be back in May for my birthday and this is where I'm celebrating... the flavors and textures are on point! Hats off to the chef!

However, upon ordering my late breakfast/lunch, i.e., the jet-lagged, groggy, dispositional meal after 24-hours landing at Heathrow, the special Won-Ton soup was lacking notably, bean sprouts, mint leaves, bay leaves, more assorted vegetables, and slices of chili peppers: I guess it's safe assuming the soups created here are catering to the local residences' taste buds and not those who are familiar with experiencing true ethnic, Vietnamese cuisine. Still, the broth was good, filling, laced with thin noodles, and a smidgeon of Won-Ton noodles filled with pork costing £8.50; nonetheless, the soup was . . . meh~boring. In addition, I ordered the mango/green tea, bubble tea for £3.50 which was absolutely disappointing to my utter dismay: The bubble tea was like a Lipton pre-mixed green tea mixture and the same applies for the mango-definitely a questionable mixture; the mango tasted straight from a tin can and definitely not from pulverizing a fresh mango fruit sold at the Aobaba Grocery Store adjacent to the restaurant . . . Ironically, drinking the mango/green tea bubble tea was undoubtedly a disappointing surprise . . . Moreover, there were no tapioca pearls or flavored jelly cubes added to the mango/green tea bubble tea, i.e., surprisingly shocking. https://aobaba.com/menu I was literally taken aback, astonished the URL for Aobaba doesn't list the menu physically seen at the restaurant. Therefore, I'm submitting three stars for the decent broth, docking two stars for the lack of ingredients for the soup, Boba lacking tapioca pearls or flavored jelly cubes but, giving allowances for the extremely calm, soothing, pleasantly congenial, Aobaba Staff; aside, the Pho I ordered and ate was truly a . . . MEH, i.e., boring~I'll just shop at Aobaba's grocery store making my own Pho, just buy the fruit, and the vegetables.

There was only one staff at the time and I think she was new. She was busy making drinks for a student in front of me after she got it wrong so I was neglected for a while. Until another staff noticed me and ask if she could help me instead. I thought they had menus on the walls, based on the pictures here on yelp, but there wasn't any. Only a menu on the counter where you placed your order. The staff told me they had vermicelli, banh mi, beef/chicken pho, and bun bo hue (spicy beef and noodle soup). I ended up getting their bun bo hue. I didn't know what to expect, but when they called my order and I picked it up, the ingredients in the bowl blown me away. The first taste of the broth was so flavorful and gave me a nostalgic feeling and made me homesick for a bit. Right balance of spiciness, saltiness, sweetness, and flavors of lemongrass. The noodles tasted like it was just gotten off the pot. The bun bo hue was hot and freshly made. Nice ratio of meats to noodles. I wasn't impressed with the service, but I am with their bun bo hue.
