We had the chicken Katsu curry and grilled duck donburi and edamame. All excellent and fresh, rice was not overly hot but overall very good.

This is the must-stop place for me every time I come to Basingstoke for business trip. Never disappoints.

Great food and service, this is where we end up when we don't want to cook at home.

My husband has purchased the cook book which they also sell but nothing compares to the real thing.

So my initial challenge was to find a place to have a nice dinner as I didn't know the area. So a lot may have changed since my visit, but I believe this was a well deserved rating as the ambiance was quiet, and quaint. The service was good and the food was definitely satisfying, as I was craving some Japanese food. If I'm ever in the area again, and craving Japanese food, I'd go back. So enjoy and I hope the quality is just as good as when I was there.

This says more about Maidenhead than it does about Miyazaki. Although the restaurant had mostly empty tables I was offered a table that they'd need within about 80 minutes. "No problem" I thought, along with "where is this crowd they're expecting"? Eighty minutes later and it was obvious they were truthful. This is Maidenhead's "hot" restaurant. With a sushi menu stretching all the way from tuna to salmon and back again (!) it's fair to say that the selection of raw fish here doesn't go deep or extensive. Does Hamachi even make its way to the UK? I never saw it on a menu once. Miyazaki does offer salmon nigiri both raw and lightly torched and that's about as exotic as things get. What they do they do well enough and certainly well enough for the area. If you're in Maidenhead you might as well make a reservation to dine at Miyazaki. It's not the only restaurant in town but I think it might be best one.

Also a very good poached scallop dish, quite an interesting flavor. Lobster harihari was also interesting but the lobster flavor got a little lost. The mixed sashimi was wonderful, all the fish was fresh and well cut. Particularly liked the mackerel and always love tuna, tuna here was top quality. Finally, the wakame salad was surprisingly the star of the evening, it had some nice twists I wasn't expecting. Very enjoyable meal.

Unfortunately people are still wary of raw fish and are uncomfortable with chopsticks, but both are easily mastered and sushi and sashimi are absolutely delicious. I have now been twice to Kyoto Kitchen, the first time for a birthday party and the second to cheer myself up after the Referendum result, and on both occasions the charming service (from a lovely Thai) and the delicious food were memorable, as are the light and fresh surroundings. After some warm salted edamame (delicious) we of course had sashimi and it was fine. Of course nothing compares to the sashimi one gets in Japan, but for the UK, the salmon, scallop and tuna were good. Yakkitori followed (but no 'gizzard' which is my favourite) and beef tataki, asparagus and scallops, gyoza, vegetable tempura, wasabi king prawns and scallops and superb black cod. Needless to say the rice was delicious but the sake was a little disappointing. I like a nice crisp, dry Niigata sake, but the staff don't know much about the drink. A place to return to as frequently as one can!
