Savory waffle menu.
J. L.

First principle of sandwiches according to me: a club sandwich MUST have bacon on it. Otherwise, you're not in the club. (NOTE: This truck offers other pork products so it's not some sort of Kosher/halal issue either. Just a poor choice on behalf of the menu-maker.) Bacon would have gone a long way to help this flavorless, underwhelming sandwich aka the "Super Club". Spoiler alert: there is nothing super about this sandwich except how much it SUPER SUCKS. The waffle as a sandwich bread can be a beautiful thing when done right and sadly this sandwich misses the mark on all counts. The only thing I could taste from this mess was the waffle! When it comes to sandwiches, the bread should be an equal companion to the filling not the only star of the show. The rest of the ingredients were of subpar quality i.e. bland, low-quality deli meat with suspect "toothy" parts to it. YIKES. Spinach as the greens was an awkward choice as well -- too chewy and fibrous to be allowed in any club that's not explicitly Californian and even then, do people a favor and go with the baby variety. The mayo tasted vaguely chemical and was applied to, like, one waffle square per side of the sandwich. Yuck. To add insult to injury, the sandwich was not well constructed either, i.e. "flat" application of aforementioned mystery-meats with the tomato slices placed in the precise middle of sandwich. Do you know what happens when you put tomato slices in the middle of a sandwich? Yeats said it best: "Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold." I could only hate-eat the first half of this so I could have enough material to write an honest review. I can't believe I paid $8 for this mess AND tipped 15%. I'm letting this truck keep a star because the waffle itself was halfway decent and I bet it would taste fine with some nutella or ice cream (which the truck does offer). I also won't yet assign it to my "Roach Coach" list of shit-trucks because I consider this bad experience partly my fault: I should have bailed when they told me there was no bacon on the sandwich, but I wanted to give it a shot as I hadn't seen this truck around yet and I always love a good ham and turkey club. Maybe I'll try a sweet waffle offering if I get the chance and I'm in the mood, but I know for sure I won't ever be joining that Far-From-Super Club.

Oooooh dat chicken that I had for lunch today was pretty good. I was out searching for another food…read moretruck, and then this place caught my attention. I was still a little hesitant until this nice woman came along and vouched for the food. I had no idea about what to order, but as soon as I saw her food come out I was sold. I told the guys to give me exactly what she had, which included a quarter chicken, corn, and potatoes. I got back up to my office and enjoyed all of it. The chicken was well done and well seasoned, the corn was tasty, and the potatoes were better than what I was expecting. Can't really explain it but they were like roasted and mashed at the same time.. whatever it was it was great! Oh and that sweet orange sauce that they gave me took the chicken to another level. Insert fire emojis Lastly, the guys working the truck were some of the coolest food truck people that I've ever interacted with. Combine that with good food and you can def count on my coming back again.

Well...I meant to take a picture of my lunch. Really, I did. But...it was gone too fast…read more.. Today was my second time at Ooh Dat. Both times I've ordered the same thing - a quarter dark meat with one side. It comes with basmati rice (which you can sub out for a different side) and a choice of a salad, coleslaw, and corn. I've chosen the coleslaw both times - I find it so unique, with its cabbage and basil-like dressing. Definitely NOT your usual slaw. I will try the corn one of these days, though. On to the chicken - They give you a good amount of chicken and it is very, very juicy. I can't comment about the skin (I don't eat the skin, I take it off...I know to some of you that's a sin!) but my co-workers have previously commented that it is nicely seasoned. They also provide you with a mild barbeque sauce, and today they gave me a new sauce, which was curry-based. It's slightly thicker than the barbeque sauce, which while it has good flavor, is a bit thinner (it complements, not overpowers, the chicken). I alternated between both sauces today. I have to also complement the owner/manager - I had exactly $8 in cash (keep forgetting about the taxes for food trucks!) so he let me go without paying the $.80, that was really nice of him. I'll be sure to give it back to him next time! Overall, a solid, filling meal, and I would return!

The only con which could be personal preference was my rice was underseasoned with salt. Luckily the sauce from the meat compliments the rice. The service is great - they are super super friendly and helpful with answering any questions or helping you decide what to order. The price is so reasonable like spending under $15 on a platter is unheard nowaday. I will definitely be back to try something else on the menu.

I ordered: +the Nasi Goreng - #2 on the menu; this is an Indonesian fried rice with chicken, egg, shrimp, veggies, and a side of pickled veggies; savory rice with tons of ingredients; this was pretty filling! +Sate Ayam - #3 on the menu; these were grilled and marinated chicken on bamboo skewered, dressed in a peanut sauce, served with a corn fritter and pickled veggies; this combo also comes with rice, but I opted out of this; I absolutely LOVED this dish! There it was. Big, green and ugly. The Halal Grill food truck. We got in line and all of a sudden this older gent with glasses comes up to me as he was passing by and says "Hi sir, how are you?" "Fine, except for this tarzan heat". He says "you like Pakistani food?" , I reply "sure, like I like my Pakistani women, scrumptuous and SPICY!" Then I realized he was the owner or something when he offered to let me taste the food before I chose wisely. They offered chicken and lamb chunks on flavorful basmatti rice or a pita. Side salad included, and everything topped with a yogurt and or spicy red sauce. I decided to go with the chicken bites and both sauces. It wasn't as spicy as I thought it would be, but it was good. It actually had a nice even flavor. The people in the truck were really friendly too. So for the overall experience I'm giving them 4 stars. Be sure to check them out yourself.
