Orange you glad I wrote this review? Otherwise you'd never have known how good this ice cream is... except for those other 45-and-counting reviews. What to get: Coffee Oreo flavour. And: Well other flavours are great too and the service is wonderful and humble. What else: Wanna taste my Coffee Oreo flavour? So the ice cream is overpriced to the extent that it would have to be pretty damn special in order to justify a 5-star rating. The problem with that is, though, that it is definitely pretty damn special. Some of the best ice cream I've had, and easily they best I have ever had from a truck. I didn't expect much because I'm an ice cream lover and have very high standards. But this would easily be in my top 20 ice cream places in the country. If you come on here and write a bad review about it, I may have a cow. Like Logan said, if you'd told me there was premium home-made ice cream at a truck I'd have laughed and said have fun being a Hipster. I'd have been very wrong. It's premium, it's home made, and it's utterly freaking delicious. Like Ishaan said, none of the choices are bad Mooooooooo-ves, and neither are moves like Jagger if you're Adam Levine. Bye bye Miss American Pie, drove the chevy to see Adam Levine but Adam Levine was high. And good old boys were eating Orange Cow Ice Cream singing, this'll be the day we get fat. This'll be the day we get fat. read more

Dang you Orange Cow. I lost all willpower and headed straight for dairy and fat at the sight of your merry truck. A $4 chocolate chip cookie sandwich with mint chocolate chip ice-cream was my undoing. The price point was such a tease. I should give you a wonderful review but I am so conflicted at my undisciplined gluttony that I can only say, I hope I don't see you around again, because you will send me into another battle of taste buds versus mental diet plan. You were simply delicious, and I agree, with the other reviewers, adequately chilled as ice-cream should be. You didn't melt straight down my fingers but held your own for the two blocks back to my office. Moo. read more

Very consistent when I have come across them. Their ice cream selection never fails. My sister and I love to see them at Awesomecon. Love their gummy bear lemonade pops also. read more

I've been wanting to try out The Orange Cow for a while now; doing a little mini food truck tour, I found them in front of the Smithsonian's American Art & Portrait, along with a handful of other trucks during the lunch rush. The Orange Cow is known for their hand-dipped ice cream made with natural ingredients. Their menu lists their ice cream flavors (Coffee Oreo, Green Tea, Chocolate Oreo, Peanut Butter Cup, Mint Chocolate Chip, Coconut Chocolate Crunch, and Banana Cream Pie), 'Mini' Fudge Brownie Sundae, Ice Cream Sandwiches (your choice of ice cream between two chocolate chip cookies), Frozen Banana on a Stick, Homemade Ice Pops, and Floats. Don't be shy in asking for samples, as the employee is very friendly and lets you taste as many samples as you want. I tried their Coffee Oreo (sooo delicious - concentrated coffee taste with bits of Oreo cookies throughout) and their Banana Cream Pie (sooooo good, as this was banana-y and yummy; literally a banana cream pie in an ice cream form!); both were so creamy! I chose to get an Ice Cream Sandwich with the Coffee Oreo; the chocolate chips in the cookies were large-sized and had plenty of chocolate chips throughout. The scoops of the Coffee Oreo ice cream were quite generous, which I really appreciated! I also purchased one of their Homemade Ice Pops - the 'Gummy Bear Lemonade,' which I've yet to try, but am pretty excited, as it's a long tube full of lemonade 'ice' with a handful of colorful gummy bears within :D I'd love to check out their Frozen Banana on a Stick as well as their floats next time. Service was super friendly and oh-so-nice, and you even get a little loyalty card (where 10 initials gets you a free scoop!); also, try to listen for their cowbell! :P Check their social media, as they update it daily on their location for the day :D +Banana Cream Pie ice cream! :D +Coffee Oreo ice cream! :D +Gummy Bear Lemonade pop +all-natural ingredients! +friendly employee! :D +Loyalty card (10 initials gets you 1 free scoop!) +check their social media for daily locations read more

Classic ice cream flavors while offering a couple twists here and there like Coffee & Oreo. Note: They offer HUGE ice cream portions in a waffle bowl so if you're craving a boatload of ice cream, The Orange Cow is for MOO! I wouldn't even call them scoops, it was more like almost a pint of ice cream (not complaining). See pictures. Delicious, creamy, and wonderful. Try it! :) read more

Finally a Food Truck selling a product you expect to get out of a moving vehicle, ice cream and other sweet goodness. I ordered the Strawberry Shortcake and it was definitely 6 dollars well spent. The cake was moist and flavorful, the strawberry topping fresh and delicious, the whipped cream was the perfect amount and a nice add on and the vanilla ice cream was cool and refreshing. This truck is definitely worth a try, especially as the days are starting to get warmer, check it out for sure. read more

Had the Ice Cream Sandwhich today. YUUUU...UUUUMMMY!!!! Soft delicious Chocolate chunck cookie with a thick, creamy and oh so delicious Vanilla Bean Ice Cream. There are other flavors of Ice Cream, I chose that. My belly is VERY happy right now. Next time I'll try a sundae...welll maybe. The only thing I would change is that it'd be awesome to see him use homemade whipped cream and homemade sauce options. If you're gonna offer homemade Ice Cream, don't stop there....keep goin! Other than that, I highly recommend this truck! read more

The Orange Cow - Ice Cream Samich. Chocolate Chunk with Vanilla Bean Ice Cream - Ice Cream & Frozen Yogurt Near Me

Amazing ice cream sandwiches!! There were about a dozen flavors and I sampled a few - I really liked the coffee cookies and cream and regular cookies and cream. Since the price is the same for a brownie sundae, a cup of ice cream, or a cookie sandwich - I went with the cookie sandwich - which proved to be an excellent choice! The cookies are soft and the ice cream isn't too hard. It got a little messy (totally worth it!), so I recommend getting a few extra napkins. Will be back for more, would definitely recommend! read more

This was the perfect lunch time find in the food truck park on a super hot day. The line was long but the crew inside worked quickly and we got our sundaes pretty fast - don't be too intimidated if the line is long - it's worth the wait. The mini fudge brownie sundae was great! There's also a good size list of fun ice cream flavors which I look forward to trying next time we're in D.C. read more

As we were eating our lunch from Chef Driven, we suddenly saw this orange truck come on to the street. When we read the side of the truck and saw the words ice cream, it was like a gift from God. The flavour selection isn't massive, but when i read coffee Oreo, i was sold. The combination of coffee and chocolate is classic, yet it has not been mass produced, the flavours were dynamic. For a single scoop, it cost $3.50, and the portion was generous. The ice cream wasn't' air whipped, it was thick and creamy. Overall, The Orange Cow serves legit ice cream, and the fact that they are out of a food truck is amazing. read more

The Orange Cow - Eating my delicious coffee oreo ice cream - Ice Cream & Frozen Yogurt Near Me

I visited their food truck parked in L'Enfant Plaza. Got two scoops of their green tea ice cream. Such great flavor, unlike other green tea ice flavors- you can really taste the matcha. HOWEVER, I was violently ill for a whole night into the morning after eating the ice cream. My friend, who had the same flavor (and hadn't eaten anything else out of the ordinary that day), experienced the same food poisoning. BEWARE! read more

Definitely some delicious ice cream. I actually love ice cream food trucks. They always have some great flavors or something super creative. It was a little pricy I will say, but not too bad. I mean it was definitely delicious. I ordered the coffee oreo and seriously was some crazy good stuff. Come here if you're hot and want some ice cream near the mall or the Washington Monument. read more

Coffee and Oreo you say? I'm already jittery from all the coffee I've had today plus I'm gluten intolerant so my answer is a resounding "Yes! The Orange Cow - Food Truck Day at DHS! - Ice Cream & Frozen Yogurt Near Me

I'm glad others are enjoying Orange Cow. Unfortunately, for me, I found it too expensive for what you get. I had a root beer float and for $4 you got 2 smallish scoops of ice cream and A&W root beer from a plastic bottle. Looking at other reviewers who describe their scoops as enormous, I'm really surprised now by how small the scoops were in my float. They weren't much larger than a racquetball, if that. Maybe I'll give them another try this summer and just get straight ice cream in a waffle bowl or something like that. But for now, unfortunately, The Orange Cow didn't do it for me. read more

A++++++++++ service. The guy who helped us was SO KIND and really patient when we asked to sample pretty much every flavor. He also told us we could get two flavors in one cup. Say WHAT? I got Banana Cream and Coffee Oreo. So so so good and really perfect for a hot day. The Banana Cream Pie flavor has chunks of Nilla Wafers in it--can't go wrong there. Awesome service, awesome ice cream. Just awesome overall. read more

11 flavors of homemade ice cream (including coffee oreo, peppermint candy, vanilla bean, chocolate chip cookie dough), at about $2 for 1 scoop, $3 for 2 scoops, or $4 for 3 scoops (plus change for a sundae). Such a cute ice cream truck! I caught up with The Orange Cow at the NoMa Summer Screen and they were very friendly despite the long line of customers. Since I'm lactose intolerant, I wasn't able to try their ice cream based products. However, I was happy to see they offer ice pops as a part of their menu. I ordered the lemonade gummy bear ice pop and it was delicious. The ice pop was about $3 and probably the size of 2 normal popsicles. It was loaded with fresh lemon flavor and it even had frozen gummy bears inside the pop. A unique treat if you're looking for something different to cool off with than ice cream! read more

The Orange Cow - Lemonade gummy bear ice pop - Ice Cream & Frozen Yogurt Near Me

This was probably an incident of ordering the completely wrong thing off of a menu, but I wasn't too impressed with my experience with The Orange Cow during Truckeroo. I decided to order the Warm Apple Cider Float -- vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, salted caramel drizzle, all drenched in warm apple cider. The salted caramel drizzle was really delicious (I like my caramel more salty than sweet, and also more runny in consistency) but the whipped cream made everything way too sweet. The apple cider was too tart for my taste and I ended up not finishing my float once all the whipped cream and ice cream melted into it, making it all way too sweet and creamy. Also, for $5, I really expected a lot more from the float... the portion size is a small styrofoam cup with maybe 2 tiny scoops of ice cream and less whipped cream than a Starbucks frapp. I know smaller portions are typical of food trucks, but at least make my experience worthwhile? Another suggestion is to throw some pie crust crumbles on top of the whipped cream, just to add some crunch and variation in texture. I may try their ice cream by itself later down the road, but so far... just a Meh from me. read more

I've been wanting to check out this place now for some time and kept missing it. I finally tracked them down (coincidentally on accident this time) and decided to stop for a post-lunch snack. They had lots of different offerings - I would estimate about 12 flavors. I chose the strawberry and peanut butter cup. The strawberry was light and airy, and the peanut butter cup was just delicious - not overwhelmingly peanut buttery, but with enough flavor to wishing that there was more in the cup. Prices are extremely reasonable - $3 for a single, $4 for a double and then there is another size larger that I don't remember. They also offer toppings if you are interested. This will definitely be a place that I frequent! read more

Just some straight up good ice cream here. Probably going to get the best ice cream you can find in the area, aside from Larry's in Arlington. If you see the truck, you owe it to yourself to get some. Great, great ice cream. read more

Prices are reasonable and the ice cream is decent (just about as good as any ice cream store in the area) but not amazing. My main issue is the wait. I waited almost 30 mins in a line that should have taken 10. How hard is it to scoop ice cream? The woman taking orders seemed a little disorganized and as I was standing in line, they ran out of at least 3 flavors. The truck had 11 flavors available according to the list, some of which were prepackaged. My advice is to take a hint from other trucks and limit your menu. How about 4 items instead of 11? And rotate them out daily or weekly. Then you're less likely to run out of any one flavor and serving will go quicker. People will spend less time deciding on what they want only to be disappointed when their flavor disappears 4 people before they order. I'd only go back if there were no line. read more

This is some really tasty ice cream! I got the peanutbutter ice cream sandwich with two chocolate chip cookies as the "sandwich". The portion was fair, but not impressive. I'm reading that the bowls and scoops give you a huge portion, so I'll get that next time. The guy working the truck was really friendly and helpful. I'd have probably given 5 stars, but I can get a bigger ice cream sandwich from potbelly's for cheaper, and let's be honest... no one is touching Potbelly's ice cream sammich. However, I do like supporting small business and I'd eat here everyday if I could, but I can't :( read more

I tried out The Orange Cow at Truckeroo after an extremely disappointing Laotian rice dish. I hadn't planned on dessert, but I needed to rectify the wrong that had been done to me in my selection for dinner. I am so glad I did. While I would usually gripe about a $7 ice cream sandwich, I am not even going to complain about that. This ice cream sandwich really is huge. It's four scoops of ice cream and two incredibly soft, incredibly delicious chocolate chip cookies. Not to mention, the ice cream has real vanilla bean flakes. I devoured this entire thing by myself. I felt incredibly guilty afterward, but I am also not sure that I would have wanted to share this. Kudos to you Orange Cow. You are really doing it right. read more

Really good ice cream from a food truck? Count me in. I had the coffee oreo ice cream, which combined two of my favorite flavors into one. Really delicious, and had an excellent, smooth texture. $3.50 for a scoop isn't too bad pricewise either. Definitely plan on getting ice cream here again next time I see it around during my lunch break. read more

Orange cow has the best consistency of any ice cream in DC. It's smooth. It's cold (a lot of the gelateria's serve pudding consistency ice cream). It's dense in a really good way. Every kind I've tried (four cones now) has been just as it should be. read more

I think I'm a sucker for ice cream in a truck. I blame childhood brainwashing. Friendly people who love distributing ice cream is something I just *get*. Anyway, the flavors are nice. They have a variety of presentations, with/without cookie or a brownie, whipped cream, frozen bananas, etc. It's not a big truck, but they really have something for everyone. I've had the vanilla bean and the banana cream pie. Do they do tastings? No idea. Experimenting doesn't disappoint, though. I'm apparently a VIP. Not sure how I got into that, but when they drop by L'Enfant, I like paying a visit. read more

Chanced upon it today in 100 degree weather on my way to the Smithsonian Space Museum, and WHAT A CHANCE IT WAS. An absolute lifesaver, with great service to boot. The lady scooper was extremely nice, and let us sample every flavor we wanted, which is expected, but what wasn't expected was that she gave my friend and I one full spoonful each to sample. Kudos to her! The flavors... woah. Their green tea was just the right mix of sweetness and macha flavor (trust me, I come from a country where we know our green tea ice cream), and banana cream pie and peanut buttercup were great too. What makes this place a 5-star scoop shop/truck? Their huge scoops. We paid $5 and they gave us SEVEN scoops (an extra scoop of green tea cuz it was running out) and it was just soooo awesome. tl;dr? great value, great flavors, great service. what's not to love? read more

In the hot DC heat, nothing beats a homemade ice cream cone from Orange Cow! The server was extremely friendly, generous with samples, and scooped up the largest "single" I've ever had! All for only $3!! What a steal. I can't imagine how large the double and triple options are! I tried the green tea ice cream, which was perfect for a hot summer day and my friends tried the butter pecan and oreo. Everyone loved it. Yum Yum Yum! I couldn't believe I was headed to an ice cream truck on a cool fall day but there I found myself, standing before a menu of scrumptious-sounding icy snacks. And lucky me! Because of the season, they had an autumn-inspired float on the menu: creamy vanilla ice cream, warmed up with local hot apple cider and topped with whipped cream. A little bit skeptical about throwing my ice cream into a hot liquid, I inquired about its tastiness, which is always a silly question since 9 times out of 10 I'm told my potential selection is fabulous (especially when you're asking one of the business owners.) Fortunately, in this case, he was right. Amazingly, I experienced both hot cider and cold, creamy ice cream as opposed to one big melty, indistinguishable mess. Totally hit the spot. My husband indulged in a large scoop of coffee and cookie, or something along those lines, which then inspired passerby to order the same. I haven't decided whether I prefer Orange Cow or Captain Cookie - guess I'll have to continue to test them both out! read more

Oh my god, so good! At first I was a bit reluctant to get "Premium Home-Made Ice Cream" out of a truck, but I must say that it was absolutely excellent. I got the cookie dough ice cream, my favorite flavor, after a visit to the National Archives while on vacation. Though a bit unconventional, my ice cream was some of the best I've ever had, and after finishing the massive portion they give you for only $4.25, I opted to go back and get yet another order to share with my family.
