I had a friend visiting from out of town, and he really wanted to do a Waffle House breakfast. I'll be honest, I hadn't been to one since my college days so my expectations were low. Arrived to this Waffle House located in the Town 'n' Country section of Tampa on a busy Saturday morning. Open 24 hours, our timing was just right, as we all scored seats at the counter. We had a view of the servers hustling and the short order cooks rustling up orders quick fast and in a hurry. Service. Swift with a touch of Southern Hospitality. Waffle. Hot, crisp and tender...really good. Grits. We were not fans. Others were gobbling them up. They are definitely fans. My first experience of grits were made by someone from the Carolina's. I remembered them having cream, butter and cheddar cooked in until smooth. Basically, richer + flavorful. All other items served were good. One thing I noticed while driving around. My husband and I are connoisseurs of Waffle House. When we travel, my husband puts Waffle House on our list. We go to them, a lot. Having been to many of them throughout Georgia and Florida, we find this little location to be a gem. Missy is gifted. She is a server and the best cook. All the servers are great, Maria, Candy, Laurie, Matty are all good people and make the place pleasant, and have lots of repeat customers for obvious reasons. Super dirty place. Not what you would expect from something brand new. There was a mess everywhere the employees were more concerned with eating their own meals and having conversations than making food and cleaning. I'm sure in my pictures that there's at least two health code violations. The Manager who I think was named Greg didn't seem to care either. I should have gotten up and walked out the second I sat down ,but my son wanted to try waffle House badly. He loves waffles. He enjoyed his food because he was none the wiser about what was going on around him. I have to admit the food wasn't terrible but I'm not coming back after all the sanitary practices I saw being ignored. read more

This is the newest Waffle House in Tampa, Fl and the food is expected to be good. However, I gave this location a 3 star rating not based on the food because it was delicious. They received this rating based on their awkward customer service and assumptions. I called in my order and came in to retrieve my food. I was greeted and I was told by Jean (not quite sure of the name- but she worked the 4 am shift) the order had just been placed in a bag. I thought great I will be out of here in no time so I can go home to eat. The reality is I sat there an additional 10 minutes in a not busy restaurant before I was cashed out. Finally the male worker asked if I've been cashed out and I told him no. He asked Jean for the ticket and was told the ticket hadn't been written up. The male worker and Jean shared quick commentary and chuckles before the ticket was written up and entered on the register. He stated the cost of the order and I acknowledged the amount. It's been a long time since I've been to a Waffle House so I remained seated near the door waiting for the food and ticket to be brought to me. He looked at me for 2 minutes and then said you want to walk to the register. I gave him this puzzled look and then he stated due to fraud I can't take your money if I'm not near the register. I walked to the register, paid for the order and waited for my receipt which was never provided. I asked for my itemized receipt and instead I received a sheet of paper bolded with the word REPRINT and the cost of 22.57. I recommend if you don't have patience not to visit this Waffle House. The workers on the 4 am shift are ok & the food is delicious, but they lack the ability to communicate what's happening which leaves the consumer just being idle or eventually mad enough to leave the order. read more

The last visit to this location the manager messed up my order 3 times... the manager. He gave me a partial refund for waiting for the same food 4 FOUR times. I even asked to see my ticket. It was written correctly by the server. I tried to visit once again. Now you can't make to go orders this place is trash. read more

Called and placed a to-go order. Was told 10-15 minutes and I arrived about 15 minutes later. Food was already packaged up and waiting. The waitress how were hadn't added up the ticket yet so I had to stand there for 5 minutes while she got the prices of each item, added them and added in the tax. Why was this not done beforehand when 5 people were just sitting around and there was only 1 table occupied with customers? Oh well-I being my food home and it was just bland. The waitress was nice enough to package the biscuit and gravy separate so as not to make the biscuit soggy by the time I got home but the sausage gravy was bland and so thin. The eggs were well over done and the orange juice tasted bad like there was soap. Won't be back. read more

Expect a little bit of a wait on the weekends, but the staff works fast to get you seated as soon as there is an opening. Appreciate the bilingual staff since it's in TC. I've been coming here since they opened this location because it's close to home. The food is always good, but lately the service has been declining. I came in here this morning just after 7am on a sunday. There were maybe 4 cars in the parking lot and 3 tables with people. So very empty. We walked in and a server yelled out "just sit where you want." We sat at a table right in front of the coffee machine. Literally where we could be seen. My gf and I sat there for well over 5min and no one spoke to us at all. They did however walk past us looking at us. So i know they knew we haven't been attended to yet. My gf mentioned how all they seemed to be doing in back was talking about how much they were drinking last night. So after a few more minutes we got up and left. Before that a few employees did walk back and forth past us never even making eye contact, and i felt like if i said something to get someones attention they might do something to the food. I hate to say that but i know not to piss off food workers. i''ve heard horror stories about the food industry. read more

My food was fine as far as Waffle House goes, but when you walk in a restaurant, it is empty and the employees are sitting at the counter on their phones you would think "oh good, fast service". Then, when the server sees you she says " I have to clean a table before you sit down, where do you want to sit". that is not a good sign. Absolutely no customer and every table was dirty. Service was terrible from both the hostess and the manager who "addressed the issues". The hostess Maddy not only skipped us serveral times while we waited to be seated, but she dismissed and ignored my wife when she tried to speak with her about about the problem. The manager then said he would take off part of the check because of the issue and even though he personally took our money he still charged full price. Still don't have the kinks worked out. I really want to Love this location as it is super close to home but have had two disappointing visits. My family and I were here the evening they opened and the service was horrible, even though they were way over staffed for the three tables of diners. Food was good though. We went back again the other night and had slightly better service but - dirty dishes, had to ask for ordered items, and the sausage gravy tasted off(I thought it tasted like it had soap in it.) the rest of the food was good. We will probably try again but not sure how many more times until we give up. read more

Pretty new and it is clean. Some staff wear masks, one did not. Hanging a mask from your chin does nothing. Mandatory 10% fee added for takeout orders. And I tried to call in my order, but they did not answer. Cashier told me they get too busy on the weekend. And yet there were at least 6 to 8 staff members and 3 customers. Food was good. read more

I live very close to this Waffle House and since it is fairly new, I frequent it a lot. Today I visited with my daughter and after sitting for about 1 minute, my server, Josie came up and asked "Are you ready to order"? There was no "hello", "my name is Josie", or nothing. It actually caught me off guard. I asked my daughter what she wanted to drink. She said OJ and for myself I asked for a coffee. I was in mid sentence of "can u please put it in a to go cup, when Josie abruptly asked again "Are you ready to order"? I laughed and asked her to slow down a bit. (Let me add that the restaurant was not busy). No smile from her or feel of friendliness. (Pause) This review will not be abt the food, although there was a problem and after realizing that Josie was not coming back to check on the food, I tried waving her down. She yelled to another server, "See what he wants". Not even halfway through my meal, she delivered the check. This was the definition of bad service. Meanwhile, as I was eating I observed Jenny, with her mask halfway off her face loudly bickering about something. Why did I mention this? It's because 90% of the times that I go, Jenny's mask is halfway off her face and she is complaining about something. The saving grace to this waffle house is Theresita. Just drive on by. My wife and I have eaten at Waffle Houses across the country for decades so we know the brand and it's food. This is a fairly new store and is still clean for the most part. I am a member of the Waffle House Regulars Club and we get special promotions in email. So when I got a coupon for a free Classic Waffle for my birthday plus a coupon for free hash browns we chose this store because it was "new" and in a decent neighborhood. Big mistake! When we stepped inside we were accosted by extremely loud music from a jukebox. Because the music was at a disco volume all the patrons had to shout to be heard over the music. That made the ambience inside the store painful to the ears. I'd never experienced that in a Waffle House before. Music should be in the background. There was a table that a waitress half cleaned and then left to go talk with her employee friends. Uh...hello. We're sitting here waiting. Finally the cook told another girl to go finish clearing the table. All the employees were just gathered around one spot, laughing, joking, not working, yelling loudly because the freaking music was SO LOUD! They are all young people and you could tell they just don't care. Finally a waitress came to our booth but we couldn't hear her because the music was SO LOUD! We had to shout to her and cup our hands over our ears to hear her. We gave her the coupons and then told her I liked my hash burns cooked on both sides. Here's the bottom line. My wife and I both ordered the Classic Waffle. Now, this is Waffle House. You'd think they would know how to make waffles correctly. My waffle came out half under done. My wife's was raw inside. Raw batter. And the hash browns were burnt to a crisp, so hard you couldn't eat them. And one of the waitresses kept feeding coins into the jukebox so all the employees could continue their party. We couldn't get out of there fast enough. This is a total fail of a Waffle House and the fault all lies with management. We won't be back. If this is a corporate store it needs new management. If it's a franchise, it needs to be inspected and pulled. Don't go...just drive on by. There are plenty of other restaurants in the same area. read more
