Continuing my quest for the best breakfast spot in Tampa I went to Mama's Kitchen where I got the Hangover platter. The staff was very helpful and I need to do better about getting people's names but the gentleman at the checkout was very helpful. Offered silverware and ketchup for my to go order which I showed up just slightly early for. Inside the restaurant appeared very clean, there was a separate bench to wait for to go orders which was very helpful. Overall couldn't be happier with my experience. Next visit I'm looking to try their country Benedict or chicken fried steak and eggs which looked really good from the other patrons at the restaurant. read more

I showed up on a Saturday afternoon with a lunch order for my entire office, expecting to use my valid CLIPP certificate. The sign on the order stated that CLIPP certificates were not accepted. After I confirmed that I would not be able to use the certificate, I called ahead to the Dominos which was located on the road back to my office. They were very happy to receive an order for 20 sandwiches. They even suggested that I use their Mix and Match promotion to save money. The cost of the sandwiches was about half of what they would cost at Mama's Kitchen. The sandwiches were very well received at the office, and Dominos has a number of new customers. I'd actually give 3.5 stars if I could. The best part was our service. We were visited often for our coffee refills and to make sure we didn't need anything else. I normally don't order an omelette because I don't like it when the eggs get brown. The eggs were brown. I should've stuck with my tried and true scrambled instead. I asked for the spinach to be finely cut and they obliged. They even obliged when we asked for real butter. The grits were creamy. Mama's is definitely "a greasy spoon" type diner. I got a beautiful, warm, traditional and normal( for him) welcome from the lovely Greek owner Elias or Papa as he is affectionately and appropriately addressed. Claudia my server is a sweetheart. Let me tell you something. The sunny side up eggs and the grilled tomatoes are the best I have had in decades. Seriously, the 3 eggs are just right with the delicious and runny yolks and the grilled tomatoes - perfect combo of the smoky char and the garden freshness. The toast is awesome- hot, not overly crisp and with the best butter making it soft and yummy. The coffee is tasty and hot with Claudia ensuring I am being topped off every few minutes. The menu is huge with a lot of Greek specialties, soups, sandwiches and wraps in addition to the tremendous breakfast variety. This is a warm, inviting and spacious diner on a main road with a huge parking lot. Yup, sitting here in my booth and loving every second writing a live review. Came to Mama's because I had a CL Deals coupon for $20. It is a diner style place with American and Greek style foods. The menu is old and not updated. I came for lunch but the things I wanted were discontinued or out of stock. So I swiched to breakfast, an omelet with ham, cheddar and shrooms. A side of grits and rye toast. The omelet was ok but the grits were terrible. However, the greek salad that I got to go, was great and it fed both the wife and I. The place is somewhat run down, the seat cushion springs have sprung and the decor feels a couple decades old. I was happy with the service, very friendly and attentive. So sad we had bad food here! This review is for breakfast only. We ordered the Eggs Benedict, 2 eggs with hash and sausage and a kids meal with pancake egg and sausage. Mine was the worst - eggs Benedict was barely edible. Muffin was not toasted. That's the foundation of the dish! The eggs were poached but the were rubbery and over cooked. Nothing on my plate had any seasoning. The hash tasted like nothing. Hollandaise? Nothing. My plate was absolutely covered with this bizarre flavorless Hollandaise. Very depressing dish. I only ate my egg and the Canadian bacon because I was starving but I couldn't swallow the rest. My husbands eggs were cooked much better (over easy) but had the same problem with flavorless potatoes and sausage. No flavor in the sausage! The kids meal is huge so if your are looking for large meals that's a plus I guess. My daughter ate a bite of pancake and egg but would not eat the bland sausage. read more

It's a 16" plate with Gyro Meat piled on a toasted pita served with a full Greek Salad and a side of fries. Give Mama's Greek food a shot as it's got tons of flavor. Good tzatziki and good Greek dressing. 1) Didn't get a chance for breakfast but everyone else was doing breakfast so I am guessing it is solid. 2) Staff is nice and restaurant is clean. We love mamas kitchen in Ft Lauderdale, so we tried it here in Tampa. It was not good. The philly cheese stake was dry and no flaver. The eggs Benedict was on a biscuit because At 930 They were out of english muffins. Never thought of running to any store yo get some so we were offerd the biscuit well it was not good. Please just fill up a bathtub full of that and let me submerge myself. I'm not sure why so many places screw up sausage gravy, but not Mama's! I highly recommend getting your hash browns cooked with cheese; they'll get just a bit crispier (better). Service: 5/5 - Excellent. Not a single person in the restaurant (which was packed, by the way) had an empty coffee cup our entire meal. Repeatedly, by multiple staff members, we were asked if we needed anything. And did I mention the place was packed? These are experienced servers that know how to meet customer's needs. Bathroom: 5/5 - Clean. Okay. If you're like me, you NEED a bathroom after (maybe even in the middle of your meal) eating at a greasy diner. Totally clean! 4.25 stars for this family-owned restaurant that earned the local business community's 2018 "Best Diner" award. Mamas has been open approximately 15 years; it's a Tampa staple. I visited twice back in 2008, I believe. If it's changed, it's changed in miniscule ways. Pricing has definitely increased, but that was to be expected. USE CASH TO GET A DISCOUNT. Delivery is an available service. Immediately upon entering, you'll notice a "bar" accompanied by four tall stools. The dining room, w/ its bright deep blue booths & wooden tables, has been spruced up since my visit-- see pics. It's a good size, but often there's still a wait on weekends. There were some tables that remained uncleared during our visit @ a slow time on a weekday, but there also were just two waitresses. (An all too typical restaurant staffing shortage may be responsible.) Our waitress (Lauren) was VERY GOOD-- friendly & efficient. We had a little Hashbrown vs. Hash misunderstanding that was my error, but I noticed after leaving the restaurant that she had removed the hashbrowns from my bill. (Thank you!) Perhaps the greatest aspect of this North Florida Ave diner is that the EXTENSIVE MENU offers breakfast, lunch, dinner, & even Greek food. There's likely something for every guest in your party, including Mimosas, Bloody Marys, domestic beer, & wine. The warm grits unfortunately had little flavor, but once I added salt they were excellent. But the "best-est" food item (for me) was the side of Corned Beef Hash served hot (to go) @ $6.99. Just INCREDIBLE HASH! I was in Tampa for a few days and found this place. It has over 150 Yelp reviews and over 1200 GOOGLE reviews! It's an old building, which looks like it may have been a Dunkin before. Nevertheless, I was immediately greeted by a waitress with a nice smile and seated at a booth. It was busy and half the place was off limits due to Covid-19. I'm sure they would've been busier. I had corned beef hash, two poached eggs, hash browns, wheat toast and a Diet Coke...I ate the entire plate! It took about twenty minutes for me to receive my order, but well worth the wait because everything was hot! I mean the ehgs were steaming, the hash I had to let cool down a bit and the service was fantastic. The waitress brought me another soda without me asking and she touched back twice...phenomenal! A pet peeve of mine is having to search for my server or feeling abandoned at a restaurant. If you're in Tampa, definitely go here for a meal! read more

Sadly..... it is not my food didn't have any flavor my scramble eggs had no taste I had to add ketchup and salt.... The waffles were hard..... sadly this wasn't it for us.
