Good morrow fair gentlemen and gentleladies of the universe. Me and the fam were hopping along our little roadie trip down south to B-E-A-U-tiful Myrtle Beach when hour 6 of the 9 hour track had us starvin' like Marvin the Martian on Mars looking up into the stars while wearing Orange drawers. We were hungered for some good breakfast when we happened our little eyes upon a special sign in the distance... Have you ever had a moment like this? There you are, driving, running, walking, surfing, sneezing, dumping, watching Harry Potter, and all of a sudden -- KABOOM POW -- you get a sign. Maybe it's a literal sign like in my example here. Maybe it's a commercial. Maybe it's a bird slamming into a window. Maybe it's another love letter from that creepy bloke from down the street -- we all have that guy or gal, amirite? Well, for me and the fam, it was a big sign in the distance that read...WAFFLE HOUSE -- cue up the big fat smiley face with balloons and explosions in the background emoji. The WAFFLE HOUSE is a STAPLE on southern road trips. Sure, there are some WH's in North but I'll be the first to admit -- they aren't the same. Sorry, but they're not. They are third tier at best up north. Not trying to start the great waffle war of 2025 or anything, but I'm spitting the truth! So, given that we were in WH country, we knew that we needed to stop. I slammed on the breaks and sent us skidding right into the parking lot, where the car ejected us and we landed our butts at the WH bar. I just love how a good Waffle House is put together. You've got your high top bar, your low top bar, and a bunch of old school cushion booths all over the joint. And you get to watch the expert chefs go to work on the grill. It's easy to "catch a vibe," as the young people say. I got the sausage and egg biscuit sandwich with hash browns and, of course, a waffle. Delightful. Delectable. Delicious. Dynamic. Dominating. Absolutely stupendous. I wish I could eat it all over again. The coffee was hopping, too. The food was cooked fresh, quick to serve and quick to be eaten. I want to touch on the staff, however. This might have been the NICEST. MOST WONDERFUL. MOST DILIGENT. MOST RESPECTFUL. MOST PROFESSIONAL staff that I've ever encountered in a restaurant. "Good morning" when we entered. Constantly checking on us. So polite and family like. They were the stars of the show. There was this one super grumpy individual who made a to go order, and decided to cause trouble in the restaurant, claiming that there was a mistake with her order when it was in fact she who made the mistake. Despite her hooting and hollering, the staff remained calm, dealt with her in a positive way, and chose to de-escalate instead of argue. Superb job done by this staff. Can't go on a road trip in the south without hitting the Waffle House. We stopped here on our way to Myrtle Beach. It's exactly what you would expect from a Waffle House. Not the best looking, but friendly service and great food. I got the breakfast melt with city ham. Obviously got a waffle also. Both were delicious. Not much else I can say other than support your local Waffle House and bring them to the Northeast. read more

Waffle House is our go to stop on all our road trips. We will never go back to this one ever and will not go back to any Waffle House for a long time. We're really turned off. - Customers were asking the waitresses if they sold drugs. The entire place had a strong odor of pot in the air. - Bathrooms were disgusting. - Dinning area and back line floors were disgusting. - No one was in charge. - If you were white, good luck getting service. There was an older gentleman who was looked at 5-times and shrugged off. I don't know if he ever got served. But guess what, other people were getting their orders called in. - This was was first time in over 30-years, I gave the minimal tip. If you see this review, please, do not waste your time at this Waffle House. Maybe if they lose business, the owner will care. read more

We stopped for a breakfast/lunch. We usually have great luck with these choices. Waffle House is pretty standard. We had coffee before our butts were in the booth, and our waitress was very friendly. I ordered a breakfast bowl. My food came out exactly as ordered. My hubs ordered a meal that had a waffles etc. His meal came out as ordered also. The toast could've had butter on it. The waitress kept the coffee hot and fresh, she checked on us often. The check came and everything was as we imagined. It's rare food comes out just as we order it....I have to bring this up. This location nailed it. I asked for crispy potatoes and they were crispy...not burnt but crispy. They listened and weren't ass holes about it. Gave em 4 stars because the toast was soft and without butter. Toast the toast and slap some butter on it! It's breakfast for crying out loud. read more

Came in for breakfast while on the road to a funeral. The surrounding me of our trip had been sad until this restaurant visit. As soon as we enter red we felt like we were on a vacation. The reason for travel went away just long enough to enjoy this meal because of the caring people. We were a family of six. The staff worked hard to find a place for us to be together and ended up seated at the little tables facing the griddle. It was so nice to see all the smiling faces and staff members truly asking how their customers were. My regulars based on the conversations were welcomed and you could feel the love. My son had the kids waffle with bacon and orange juice. My daughter had a bacon, egg, and cheese biscuit (she wanted the egg on the side as she hates eggs on things such a weirdo lol) and a biscuit with jelly as she could not decide. I had the grits bowl with sausage, eggs, and cheese. My hubby had the waffles and angus cheeseburger. My dad had a cheeseburger with hash browns. My brother got the big breakfast platter with eggs, bacon, sausage patties, hashbrowns, waffle, and toast. All the food came out just as ordered and perfectly cooked. My coffee was never empty and everyone else's drinks were kept full. The staff was extremely friendly when talking with us and ensuring we were having a good meal. Even the other patrons or regulars started talking with us making it like we were part of this beautiful Waffle House family. Thank you for going above and beyond. read more

This is my first and probably last time visiting a Waffle House. Customer service at this one needs improvement. No one greeted us when we entered,all available tables were dirty, a man yelled from the back for us sit anywhere and that someone would clean the table when we get there. The utensils were dirty. They don't offer a non pork breakfast meat. The food is edible! The restroom was clean, but didn't have any toilet paper!! Maybe today was an off day! read more

Waffle House #1152 has HORRENDOUS service. That's if you are lucky to get any service at all. If I could give ZERO or LESS I would. When the waitress who is to wait on you acknowledges that you are sitting in her area and she continues to wait on people who came in after you and never once comes to you, there is definitely a problem!!!! I am giving this a one star review based on the efforts of the cook, who finally came and asked me what I would like to have as no other waitress acknowledged us at all! I had to move to the counter to get that little bit of service. Due to the lack of service after a 30 minute period of time some of our party decided to walk out as they were not even being acknowledged as a customer! I've been to several waffle houses in different states and areas and I must say by far, this has been the worse service and food I have ever received! 1st time at Waffle House and so disappointed! I'm not even sure as to why this is called the Waffle House because there's absolutely zero quality and variety to the waffle! Waffles are a fun way of eating cabs with fruits and other toppings! My waffle was undercooked, soaked in fat and fruits were not available! Coffee was washed-up as well, they had no choice of milk. I understand the old school American dining atmosphere but this is FAR from it - cheap / messy breakfast place! I do not recommend and will not be back. We paid $20 and left to have a quality breakfast elsewhere. read more

I heard rave reviews about this place!!!! Don't believe everything you hear. I was seated at the counter 10-15 minutes before I raised by hand to be acknowledged. Finally after 3 additional minutes, I get serve. The breakfast was good, but the service and cleanliness of restaurant was awful. There was a fly that is a problem for me. I was going to leave & just thought I was being a little too critical. I have worked in the food industry & from new York standards, this place right here would have several violations if not shut down. A customer gor sick out restaurant, the server gave the young lady a water hose to clean up vomit. It wouldn't been me, I don't work for waffle house, therefore I don't clean waffle house. I will never visit this waffle house again. Spoke to family members & they agreed the service is horrible & it seems to be that new ppl are now working there. I was out in North Carolina for work. This nice place was just across the street from my hotel. All through my trip I just stay in the hotel because people were not that welcoming. So this is a helluva dive and I set my expectations accordingly. I ordered the cheesesteak hash brown bowl and it wasn't horrible. The first bite was gritty and I was concerned. AWFUL House! That should be the name of this one. I love Waffle House and have eaten here many times. However this one has seriously declined. I came in at 5:00am and it was not crowded. It was dirty, the front door was off the hinges, the waffle irons were covered in batter, my 1st cup of decaf coffee was sludge (left over from day before?)and my order was wrong. The server did make a fresh pot of decafe but it was exceptionally strong. The cook kept going outside for a smoke break and the rest of the staff took turns cooking food, except for 1 of the servers who kept chatting with some customers and didn't do anything. There was food, napkins, straws and debris covering the floor - she could have at least swept the floor. I will never go back to this one. There is another Waffle House on the other side of I-95 which I'll try next time. read more

One of the many Waffle Houses I went to this summer during my band's tour. You know what to expect at a Waffle House. Great diner food, big breakfasts, low prices, and great service and smiles from all the staff. They're all open 24 hours as well, which is great for road tripping. The pecan waffle is where it's at! This is just a terrible place. We went there early morning and there were only two other clients sitting at one table. Still, we waited a while because the waitress didn't feel like or didn't want to serve us. A cook had to tell her. We placed our order, waffles and eggs/bacon, and waited a long time. You see, a cook and our waitress were on bad terms so they chose to make us, the customers, pay for it. The waitress then finally came to see us and exposed the situation, telling us that if need be, she would call the manager. Now, in case some of you think I am fabulating. I am not. This is a true story. So after a while, the waitress nonchalantly started to make the waffle. A cook finished it and it was sitting there for a while until the waitress finally decided to bring it over. Of course, the eggs weren't ready; in fact, they were still in their shells. So my wife was served an undercooked waffle and I was waiting for my eggs. Finally, another cook started working on my eggs and the waitress brought them to me; also undercooked, pretty disgusting. At some point, another waiter sitting at a table yelled at the clients of the other table, asking them if everything was okay. I tell you, super service. This place was so terrible that I looked around thinking I might be on candid camera. read more

It's like a symbol that I'm starting to get pretty far from home, also I can never seem to resist the imaginary pull it has on my stomach. I normally love Waffle House I've never been as disappointed and underwhelmed with one as this one. The restraunt was a little crowded, and horribly understaffed so that might affect my review. It took them literally 30 min before they even took our order. While waiting I noticed the quality of the kitchen. This one unfortunately was a mess. it took another half an hour before our food even began to show up. We never received our full order which we would have asked about if we were not already under a time crunch and could not afford to wait for the rest of our food. This was the worst Waffle House we have been to. A female cook did not clean her area where she was cooking. It was so dirty. The stove was greasy and full of burned leftovers. The bacon and sausage were burnt. The harsh browns were filled with burned "sparkles" from previously cooked and burned leftovers. Our whole family had heartburn and an unpleasant after taste.
