They have all of the regular southern fair. Bestie said the cornbread reminded her of her nana (who was from Harlan County, Kentucky - so that tells me this is OG Appalachian cornbread). It's not like your typical Northeastern sweet cornbread. The menu had all your typical southern fair chicken fried steak soup beans, and cornbread. They serve breakfast all day. She got the beef vegetable soup with the cornbread. Beef vegetable soup was Campbell's. I had the patty melt, which was amazing. It was a 10 ounce freshly made patty on rye toast with grilled onions and Swiss cheese. It was the best patty melt. I've had in many years. My meal came with a small side of critical cut fries that were delicious. Service was friendly and fast. We went with besties's cousin for breakfast the next morning. I have the two eggs over easy with a biscuit and sausage gravy and two strips of bacon. That biscuit was amazing as a sausage gravy. Bacon was crisp and delicious. Service was again very fast and friendly they checked on us numerous times to freshen our coffee, which was greatly appreciated. If you're staying near Bristol or in Bluff City etc. check out the Bluff City Diner. It doesn't look like much from the outside, but the food was really good and the prices are extremely reasonable plenty of offstreet parking easy access for those who might have mobility issues.

The food took a good 20 minutes to arrive. A few people who arrived after us got their orders before us so I don't know if there was a mix up in the kitchen or what. The food was hot when brought to the table, so for whatever reason ours just took longer. The Sunrise breakfast includes two eggs, a meat choice, and either biscuit or toast. The eggs and bacon were cooked as requested, and the biscuit was light and fluffy. My dining partner asked for jelly and was brought small cups of butter and jelly. There was plenty to enjoy on the biscuit without having to open the typical little jelly containers. The country breakfast included two eggs, a meat choice, and a biscuit and gravy. The eggs were cooked as requested. The sausage patty was done but not overdone. The biscuit was excellent, and the sausage gravy seems to be made from real fat so it has a ton of flavor. I ordered the Gyro Platter $17.99, and one 16-ounce Hawaiian Shirt IPA $5.00. Pepper shakers at the bar were filthy and had not been cleaned. I noticed that the front inner door STILL had a homemade sign on it ( please use the other door)! From my previous service with the US Government, I informed the staff once again that the door being locked or broken was a VIOLATION of the National Fire Safety Code! One member of the staff, who identified herself as a manager, retorted that the door had been broken for years, as she walked away and refused to give her name when asked. Since both doors are required to be open in case of a fire, panic, or an active shooter issue, I found her nonchalant reply UNACCEPTABLE! I reported the violation to the Johns City, fire prevention officer, Keven Hanes, both in email and by telephone message! Knowingly violating fire codes can result in fines, lawsuits, or even loss of business licence! I do pray that Johnson City will investigate this issue and take appropriate action. As of now, this broken door violation has fully served. Fire kills thousands of people in our country every year, locking or not repairing broken exit doors is nothing short of CRIMINAL! SAFETY IS EVERYONE'S BUSINESS! Let them not wait until another group dies, unable to exit!
