Nissa and her staff are truly amazing! We rolled in on a hustling Saturday morning and we watched as she called out each order and the girl at the grill efficiently laid out plates with markers so she would know what goes with which order. All plates were completely as ordered, piping hot and so delicious! I've had never had grits before and she explained the perfect bowl to me (which they perfected!), so yeah, I had to! SO GOOOOOOD! The diner was small, but space was used efficiently and it was clean and cozy. My parents and I were looking for a place to grab a quick bite. We stopped in on a Sunday afternoon and it was busy, but we were able to get a table without waiting. If I were rating solely on service, it would easily be 5 stars. The staff that we interacted with were very nice and friendly. They were greeting customers as they came in, asked us how we were throughout the meal, and were just overall very nice. I had the Texas Bacon and Egg, and Cheese Melt Plate. It was fine, but super greasy. I ordered apple juice and it came in tiny juice boxes, so our server Vivian gave me two boxes (she was such a sweetheart)! The biggest downside however were the flies. Throughout the entire meal, we were swatting at flies. I know it's a diner, but it was out of control. Prior to this visit, I hadn't eaten at a Waffle House in nearly 20 years. How is this a staple of Southern dive restaurants? Being a life long southerner, somehow, I had never been to one of these locations until like two days ago. To say this place is a dive is generous. Upon walking in the door, when you are greeted by the kitchen and the old school counter-service space, it sets the mood. This place was dirty, the food is meh and the staff was wholly inattentive. I sat with a menu to make up my mind and then stood up to make an order. When you have to notify someone that you are standing right in front of them so that you can place your order, it says a lot. Imagine standing in line at McDonald's and there's a worker at the register and you have to ask them to take your order; this is the vibe. I finally placed a to-go order and then sat in the car waiting for it to get done. When I went back inside, one of the people who originally ignored me suddenly gained sight and I notified him that the waiting bags were mine. He says "aint no way because these haven't been paid for", when I clearly had to pay for the order before it was prepared. He screams out to his coworker who confirmed the order was paid for and he walks away with egg on his face. Note to management: Work on customer service b/c greeting customers is a bare minimum and clearing away dishes from like 7 dirty tables can be accomplished alongside serving new customers. This particular night the restaurant was extremely packed which led to fight or flight mentality for the obvious new comers. Today was ROUGH. We got there at 10:45. Got seated at 11:30. Had to ask about our food at 12:20 because it still had not come out. They were busy, they were working as quickly as possible. From what I could tell no "order" as to how they were cooking the food. Too many online orders and in store customers were having to wait. I saw other people orders coming out ahead of people who came before and after us. The table behind us got their food before we got ours and we were sat ahead of them too. Poor Jeanne doing her best to keep people informed and apologizing. Donald must be new ? Didn't check in us for half an hour and we needed refills. They definitely need to either turn off orders when they're that busy inside or come up with a better system for processing them. We won't come on a Sunday morning again after the gym. read more

Terrible service right when a group of us walked in on a late Sunday morning. Arrived, held the doors for a family behind us who then took a table available table when we all walked in, leaving our group of 3 to sit and wait. A few minutes later, a spot opened up and we took it. Seconds after sitting, the server told us to move back to the waiting area seats as the previous customer was still there, but cashing out and the remainder of their party was already out the door. It wasn't an ask, but a demand and telling us, before we even had adjusted our seats and giving us a full lecture a majority of the store could hear. I understand they wanted to clear our tables from the previous guest, which could be done with us sitting there. However, with first come, first serve, and no one managing seating on a busy Sunday, I think the approach of treating customers as such and not your boys back at home could go a long ways. We ended up deciding to leave vs sitting in waiting again and took our business to a different, non Waffle House establishment. That ended up being a far better decision. read more

When one has the occasion to make it to the WH, one expects a few things. 1. You should have a hangover that would make Hemingway proud. 2. Did you remember your hangover? 3. Coffee should be immediately dispensed. 4. The waffle must be crispy on the outside and warm a fluffy inside. 5. Service that would make some Army drill Sargent's proud. Sadly, this WH was a miss. Whilst the wife and I definitly had WAY too many libations the night before (Always Uber or Lyft. It is cheap insurance not to get a DWI. Typically I have great experiences and excellent food at all of the waffle house locations I have been to. This was our first time trying this location and there was much to be desired. The kitchen seemed to be unorganized and sure enough, we were delivered a undercooked waffle and my order did not come out correctly. Came in super hungry and super jet lagged after having just got home from Dubai. I desperately craved grits and had no idea what to order other than that. Sha was my server and she was very patient, accommodating and helpful. I ordered the all star special with a chicken breast per her recommendation and it was PERFECT! Let me start by saying that I love Waffle House. When FEMA gauges how bad a natural disaster is by a restaurant's operating status, I'm impressed. The waitresses are always friendly and the cooks are the most efficient I've seen. My experience at this particular location deserves a review if not for anything but a good laugh. It was after rodeo Houston and everyone is hungry. So Waffle House is open all night, let's go there. It's me, hubby, and 2 older kids. I get sweet tea, hubby gets diet coke, sin gets coke, daughter gets water. There's also a deal that you can get a large oj for $1 with any paid beverage purchase so I order that to share. Waitress brings a small oj while singing some weird sing about orange juice. No big deal. Then she can't remember which glass is diet coke and which is regular so she. ......are you ready for this. ....practically sticks her nose in each glass and takes a big sniff. I sir even know how to react. I've never had anyone sniff a drink before like that. She sets the glasses down and treks the guys to taste them. I say that diet coke is usually darker so the drinks need to be switched. The woman argues with me like I'm an idiot and says, "No! Diet coke is always lighter. I know. " Ok, that's not correct. Diet Coke is darker in color but whatever. So she says in a condescending manner, "Taste them and just see if I'm wrong." She was wrong. This was after she had sniffed the drinks. Anyway, she got our orders all wrong, charged us for her mistakes, proceeded to get other orders wing at the other tables, and irritated the cooks so much that they yelled at her. So disappointed and angry at this location. The prices were outrages. I know the prices of waffle houses and they overcharged us. I went with a group of 6 people and the restaurant was empty and we saw the prices on the menu and we heard the manager telling the waiter that the price changed on the items, we told them why are the prices different and we were ignored. They also called my coworker a woman and he is clearly a man, he got really offended. Not only that the manager kept staring at one of my coworkers and that made him just as uncomfortable. Misty was the sweetest. She even made sure we got our table as a customer walked in to the table like we wasn't waiting. My egg were watery and she got them fixed fast before my food got cold. If I could rate this place with a -0 I would. Me and my family waited for a good 15-20 minutes to be sat and then seated for 10-15 minutes to be told no waffles are being sold. First time in Texas, first time at waffle house. Me and best friend popped in this location from NYC. So excited to eat here it was the closest to our hotel so we gave it a try. Shocking enough this location is pretty small however we have some big personalities! Sha greeting us as soon as we came in. Made small talk to get us comfortable. Asked and served our drinks right away. I can tell shes the big dog who runs the house, very well. She made sure our order was everything we wanted throwing in those deals so our bill wasn't adding up for no reason. Loved that! The food was delicious. Soo damn good!! We came back the next day of course. Sha greeted us again but she couldn't take our order like the day before but she still asked us and made sure we got what we needed. There was a lil hiccup when we was placing our order(in house issue) but it was understandable as I work in food service I know how it goes with different personalities. Sha came to the rescue and just wrote down what we wanted because she knew lol. The food was good but let me tell yall, I didn't get his name but there was a young guy on the grill the first day, low cut, sorry a lil lighter skin. KEEP HIM ON THE GRILL! I watched how he worked. Eggs,bacon, grits. Yea! Working in food service I know he's probably the guy who food is just always delicious because he worked swiftly and looked so patient. First of all, we walked in no greeting just a stared at us. Then we sit down still no greeting had to grab our own menus, then listened to the other table who had been sitting there for a while complaining that they haven't ordered yet. The heard the waiter say sorry guys be there in a little while. Then waited a while and we decided to leave. No one apologized or acknowledged that we were leaving another guest told us good choice. My daughter and I usually go to the location on W. Airport, but this past weekend I was having her car serviced at a shop across the street, so we decided to pop in. The weekend before we tried it at 10:30am and the place was beyond packed - 8am, not so much. It's the typical WH location - we got our usual waffles, sausage and hashbrowns and they were consistently good as usual. Still our Saturday morning 'treat' once a month!
