Dirty, wrong order, Really dirty. Expensive. I'm staying at local hotel and thought I'd grab something close. I was the only customer with 3 people on shift. Every surface was dirty. I found the cleanest appt at the bar (just some crumbs...nothing sticky) and gave it a shot. I hadn't been to WH in years, as they aren't available where I live. I remember my time in high school and college with fond memories of WH. Thankfully, the food is the same. Chicken sandwich, waffle, and hashbrowns scattered covered and smothered. Tasty! They forgot the extras on the hashbrowns. Bacon on the chicken sandwich was very poor quality, so I set it aside. What I ate was good. But, man, was this place dirty! $20 for a chicken sandwich and a waffle. This location will likely close soon, if it doesn't do something to improve. read more

I rarely give five stars. But, this morning's eating experience at my local Waffle House was perfect! We're new to Montgomery, and there are lots of breakfast joints to enjoy, and lots of Waffle Houses. But, this one is only a few blocks down the street from us, so we came for a quick bite to eat before starting our Saturday chores...and I'm glad we did. We were warmly greeted outside, as we approached the entrance (actually, as we were getting out of our car!). Then we were greeted as we came it. We were quickly shown to a table, which was clean, Lola quickly took our drink order and gave us time to choose from the menu. Prices were totally reasonable! I ordered a Texas Sausage and Egg Sandwich, and a side of hashbrowns chunked with diced ham and covered with country gravy, and hush puppies. Lola brought our order to our table lickety-split, and they were well-cooked, well-presented, well-seasoned, and well...they were just what my taste buds were pining for! Never had a bad Waffle House experience until now. This was a miss. Hard grits, 2 sets of eggs, cause the first order was wrong, anorexic waffle, and overcooked sausage. Waffle served first, 15 minutes later, grits, eggs, and toast, 5 minutes later, sausage. Unusually slow service for a waffle house, and we were 2 of 5 customers in the whole place. Worst service I've ever seen from a Waffle House and I've been to many considering I'm always traveling on military orders. Employees are lazy and find excuses not to seat you. They have refused service because there was 2 parties and they said they were busy despite having 6 people on shift. I ordered food to go an it took an hour. The food was shit. Zero stars. Filthy. Bad attitude there. Walked in at 07:00 and was told there would be a long wait for a SHIFT CHANGE! The only waitress there didn't ask us if we wanted a drink and a menu while we waited. No one was eating (12 people in the place). One block away is the opposite experience: Farmer's Market Cafe'. Immediate service, the waitress had a tray full of food, still greeted us and took our drink request. Another brought the coffee and menus right away. Terrific food too. And inexpensive. If you are visiting Montgomery, pass by this location. The facility was not clean. There was food and trash under my booth and no one attempted to sweep before we sat down. When I got my toast, I was given a jelly packet on my plate that was opened. After eating 1/3 of my food I found curly black hair on my plate. Clearly it wasnt mine. I told the manager that I didnt need a new plate of food, but no one offered to discount my meal. I should have curbed my Waffle fix for later! Just horrible! read more

There is nothing like Waffle House on a Saturday morning. It's always packed and full of life. The atmosphere is usually always great. It had been a while since I've been to one, but yesterday morning that was our choice. I had got the All star special (the usual) with cheese eggs scrambled, bacon, waffle, sugar grits and toast. And my son had got a Waffle and sausage patty. The food never disappoints and it's always cooked to order. My son decided to only eat his sausage and my bacon. Didn't partake in his Waffle at all. So I ate his and mine, along with the rest of my food. I couldn't let food go to waste. Haha. Waffle House has always been a go to spot since I was in college. The Madison Ave Montgomery ,Al. location service was awful. The waitress Libby complained about having to work7 to 7. I had to ask for silverware 2x. Everyone went to the back of the restaurant for 13 minutes making me having to wait to pay. I mentioned the long wait to someone that identified himself as George the assistant manager. He told me that I was lucky that I was served at all. He told me that they did not need customers . As I was leaving Libby said "that's why I did not want to check him out." Two stars is being generous, we came in and it greeted sat down at the o my clean empty booth and waited 5 min the waitress came up never greeted us just stood there till I said hello she said what do you want to drink? We ordered our drinks and food at the same time. Our food came before she brought our drinks. She didn't put the silverware down she just handed it to us. Then put the drinks down and we didn't see her again. My husband stopped her and asked for a refill and we never got it. I fact she walked off the floor never to be seen again. I had to walk to the cash register with no check and tell them we wanted to pay. It wasn't busy, and they had 3 books and 2 other servers. Still nothing. I am a fan of waffle house usually. We chose this over someplace else because a friend of mine from out of town had never been to a waffle house. But this was one of the worst ones ever. The service was terrible, my bacon was cold, almost as cold as my coffee. The worst part was the waffles were under cooked and not edible. Sad. read more

Would it really be a trip to the south if you didn't stop at Waffle House? The answer is no! I came here for brunch on a busy Saturday morning with some friends. We sat at the bar and received decent service. I ordered the cheesesteak hash brown bowl which is freakin delicious by the way. My other friends ordered the breakfast sandwiches and waffles to share. The only downside to our experience was that when they brought the last plate over somebody cleaning dishes sprayed the food with dish water. My friend and the waitress exchanged awkward stares and they ultimately ended up serving his dishwater soaked food to him. He ate it, we are all still alive and we will probably eat at another Waffle House in the future. It's a past time, they aren't noted for the atmosphere or the service. A wonderful Waffle House experience. In regard to all the negative reviews, please understand one thing: the culture in Montgomery, AL, is unique. What may be considered curt behavior in another area of the US is simply a way of expediting business at this particular Waffle House. The servers are extremely friendly, as LONG as you are friendly in return. They demand respect and will in turn give you, the customer, respect. The staff never gets your order right. I called in a order and when I got home it was all wrong. I called to complain. They told me to bring it back to fix it. By the time I arrived back at the restaurant I had lost my appetite. I asked the Manager to remove the order from my ticket which they messed up and she stated they don't give refunds. Our experience here was so bad it verged on comic. At times I truly wondered if we were being filmed. To say that the servers were not the sharpest tools in the toolbox would be like shooting fish in a barrel, but pretty much every thing that could be done incorrectly was done incorrectly. Nothing was cleaned up (dishes were actually pushed DOWN the counter, away from us, as if that constituted cleaning), it took about 20 minutes to simply place our order, our waitress (who was actually quite sweet and well meaning) disappeared repeatedly, nothing we asked for arrived (butter, milk for the coffee), incorrect things were brought to us, etc. I can honestly say this is a meal I will remember for the rest of my life. It was truly that memorable. If you want to be shocked and awed by raging incompetence, or to go through the seven stages of grief, come here. If you desire a half decent breakfast or meal any time of the day, head to a fast food drive through because not even this Waffle House can deliver that. The orders placed by phone are NEVER correct, the food is never done on time. You will need to provide your own plasticware as they never have any as its "locked up". The orange juice has been warm and molded a few times which has prompted reports to the local health department. The price you pay one day for the same thing will be completely different the next and nothing has changed. The management here is non existent. Calling the 800 number is a joke to make customer feel as if they're being taken care of. We all know it's a Waffle House and not a 5 star restaurant, and we don't expect it to be, however, even an average 2 star drive through does better than this. read more

First of all let me say how much I love going to Waffle House. I frequent them often all throughout the state of Alabama. This has got to be the slowest and rudest one I have ever been to. When I walked in, there were four dirty booths and five spots at the counter that had not been cleaned and no one was bothering to get to it either. They had two cooks and 4 or maybe 5 servers. They were not that busy. After 20 minutes of being there I had been given a napkin w/ silverware only. Had still not been spoken to, offered a cup of coffee or any drink, no menu was there, I knew what I wanted anyway so I walked out and went to the chic fil a on the next block. All we can say is the food was good, the service was not. Ordered a waffle and told two waitress and finally the third waitress got it but we were already done with the meal, plus had the music so loud you could not carry on a conversation without shouting. They apologized but the harm was already done. The first time we went there, we walked out because we sat there 15mins and was not waited on. Thought we would give them one more try.
