Came in after a very long night of dancing, drinking, and gambling. Walking in through the doors, there was a line at the cash register. Not sure if people were trying to pay or they were ordering to go. This line, for as far as I can remember, would stay long. My friends and I sat down at the only open table in the restaurant by the window. There was a dirty rag on the table (see picture) and after approximately 10 minutes, nobody came to clean the table or to pick up the rag or to help us. Some people started leaving and some of the tables closer to the kitchen counter opened up and one of the waitresses actually cleaned those tables (from behind the counter) so we decided to move there. From this point forward, our experience was significantly better. Our waitress never came out from behind the counter. She took our orders, bring out our orders, and chatted with us from behind the counter. During this whole time, I don't remember seeing any waitresses actually working the floor of the restaurant, but I personally didn't care as long as I was being helped. My food was good but it was nothing special as can be expected from Waffle House. Our waitress was actually pretty good and super friendly. I left here happy with both the meals and the service provided by our waitress. Just be aware that if you're sitting by the windows away from the counter, you probably will not get any help. Why? As we were walking out the restaurant after staying there for at least 45 minutes, I notices that the original table we were sitting in still hadn't been cleaned and the dirty rag was still on the table. read more

Passed this chain called Waffle House umpteen million times on our journey to and from San Antonio to Destin. Wondered why so many. Even made a driving game trying to count the on the way home. Decided to give them a try. I don't know about all of them except for this location and Manager and especially our waitress Angelina. When I say one star, I really mean zero stars. I only went to the Nelson Rd. Waffle House because it was the only place open on Christmas evening. After calling a few times and getting a busy signal, I went to WH to place my order in person. It took five minutes just to be acknowledged by an employee. Placed my order and asked the waitress if I could pay now so when the food was ready, I could just take it and go. She said no, she had to 'call it in first', whatever that meant. But later, another lady's order was taken and the very same waitress told her to pay now so when her order was ready, she could take it and go. WTF! My order took twice as long as the waitress said it would take. Spent most of that time in my car because the place was crazy and dirty. When I came back in, it still wasn't ready so I started watching the employees and looked at the condition of the place. The employees are not assigned a single job to do so they are doing whatever they think needs to be done next, like chickens with their heads cut off. I saw multiple people working the register, and that promotes theft by employees in the restaurant and bar industry. The same people took customer's orders, bussed tables and even did some simple cooking task. There must have been 15-20 coffee creamer containers on the floor behind the counter, napkins and food on the floor in the restaurant area, waffle batter all over the place caked on and dried. The tray behind the counter that they place syrup containers on, had a quarter inch of what I hope was water on it. Not even sure where that liquid would even come from. I also saw a sign on the register that read, '10% gratuity for all take out orders'. They were not short handed, they had plenty of workers that night, in fact, maybe too many as they were literally getting in each other's way. If they would have been better organized, the place could have run a heck of a lot smoother. When I left, I felt like I needed to shower before I ate what was a mediocre bacon cheese burger, but on the plus side, they did cook my hash browns to order, extra, extra crispy. Will I ever go back to this place, yes, when I am feeling a little suicidal and I am looking to catch some disease. Civil War troops ate in more sanitary conditions out on the battle field than this place was providing. Pro tip to restaurateurs - don't put the kitchen in full view of the customers if you plan on running a dirty, disgusting kitchen. That is why God invented walls. read more

My family and I went there around noon on Sunday. Packed house. My youngest ordered her food, then my oldest then I order. Youngest orders waffle and sausage. Oldest orders regular breakfast and the waitress ask if she would like a waffle. Which was more. Trying to sell us on things we didn't need. I agreed thought. Then 2 coffees and a drink. The orders were delivered within minutes. The food was NOT HOT. The eggs were actually cold. The waffles could NOT EVEN MELT BUTTER. And the coffee was warm and nasty and old. I've been here many times and it was ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE. The bill came in and I stated you gave my youngest the adult prices. And she argued with me. Saying I should have stated from the beginning. I said "my daughter told you" which was pretty obvious it was a kids meal. I told her just to fix it. She came back and only took off 50 cents. The kids meal was only $5.25. She stated she had two sausages and that why it was higher. No napkins where we sat and no jelly and no sugar and (we had pepper). Keep in mind my youngest is tiny and looks like a skinny 6 year old. There was NO way she could even eat the kids meal. And we are suppose to pay for the waitress mistake? She didn't eat the sausage. My oldest didn't even finish the waffle even though the waitress ask her to upsize her meal. Even though I was very upset with all of it I still tipped 10%. I will NEVER GO THERE AGAIN. I placed my order and watched as the manager/ cook processed (cooked) one order, a hamburger, only one hamburger, and then after 15-minutes of waiting, my waiter called my order. I asked the waiter why he was just then calling my order. The cook snidely said, "he calls them (the orders) out," as soon I; can cook them". There was a very small number of customers in the restaurant, and apparently only one customer before me, as this cook had to cook the one hamburger BEFORE he could start my order, as we had words, I asked to speak to the manager, and he confessed/ revealed himself as "the manager" and invited me to "take my waffle and leave". wish i could give it a landfill star rating. the place is filthy to begin with. i only went because the previous reviews all said the place was pretty decent. the past reviews are all lies! according to one of the waitress the place makes the food the night before or early in the mornings and keep the food ready made until it's ordered by someone unless you ordered a steak or the waffles and then the waffles are prepared on the dirty waffle maker. i'm sure the waffle mix is tainted. i asked the waitress for some fresh toast as the toast that was brought out to us was pretty brittle and old and the butter never melted and couldn't melt as the place was freezing, i guess to kill all the airborne filth/germs flying around and that's when the waitress said we don't make fresh toast and that the toast had been made since around 3a that morning (we were there around afternoon time). she went to make and bring 'fresh' toast but she forgot and never brought us any toast. we asked her in passing where was our toast and she said she forgot but by then we were done eating. she asked us if we wanted her to make toast for us to take to go. [no ma'am - we don't want any toast to go] we asked for a manager and everyone gave us a look like we were out of line or something. the service is bad there. i have never seen dirtier aprons and clothes on the workers. the double mini waffle maker is super filthy and all the trash and gunk piled up around the waffle maker looks gross. there is trash everywhere and you can tell it hasn't been cleaned, ever. finally the manager came and wanted to put our name on a list so when we were to return they'd hook us up....um, WE WON'T BE RETURNING. heck i'd rather go and find some food at a landfill and feed myself before returning to the waffle house located at 1803 Thorn Rd, Lake Charles, LA 70605. all the manager did was give us a couple dollars off to hush us up. if you are a regular who eats at that location, i hope you have your hep A and hep B shots to continue to survive life in lake charles, la. if you value your health do not eat at that place. edit: this was on a weekday and it wasn't rush hour. there is no reason that a food establishment should be this filthy and i can't believe the manager isn't having the workers have clean aprons or uniforms while at work. it's a definite eyesore. stay safe everyone. read more

I came in town to grab some food. At this location, a lady name Laine Boo constantly had her fingers in her mouth and biting her nails! I literally saw her put her fingers on plates and food afterwards! Like really this is very unsanitary definitely during COVID-19! My family's go to when we are wanting something good and cheap and breakfast of course. My kids love Waffle House. I like that it's every where and they are pretty quick when getting food out. If we are dinning in or just picking up. I'm never unhappy, unless they don't answer the phone lol. The pecan Waffle it the best and hash browns the way you like oh my how can I complain. I also had they melts and good too. My husband get a cheese burger and sausage and biscuits as a staple meal most time. But we both enjoy the all stars breakfast the best. Geneva is the best waitress!! Waffle House abuses the wait staff by paying less than 3.00 an hour. The wait staff depends on tips to make their money. Other Waffle Houses that have bad reviews have very little customers . WH need to pay the wait staff a least minimum wage. read more
