This is the most over cooked bacon I've ever seen. Disintegration upon biting.

I'm the type person when I receive bad service and low quality food I just don't go back for a few months, to give the place a chance to get their staff straightened out. Over a DECADE ago I had really bad service here and have had zero desire to come back. You can drive by all hours and there are only, on average, two cars in the lot, not a good sign. The air conditioning at the Huddle House has been on the fritz and the owners won't fix it, so we stopped in at the Awful House. I'm not sure how it's possible, but it was a worse experience than the last one so many years ago. Only one customer in there and he was reading a book the size of an old family bible. The waitress brought the tea and it was spoiled. You have to try pretty hard to let a batch of sweet tea go bad on you, but this place managed to. She exchanged it for a Coke, and she brought another glass of tea to "try this because I just made it", it was drinkable. The food was horrendous on a scale I had not experienced in a while...probably since we stopped in at the Slug Burger Cafe. The eggs were brown and not in the way of 'organic brown egg-laying chicken eggs', but more of an over cooked and scorched to a brown rubbery tasteless egg. The bacon was paper thin and cooked beyond done. It was brittle and fragile like threads of sugar candy. I can't even convey the magnitude of disgusting when describing the grits. Usually, when ordering grits, you receive a glob of white tasteless paste that takes a lot of salt, pepper and butter to make them palatable. This batch may very well have been spoiled, like the tea. The second it touched my tongue, a gag reflex forced me to spit it out, hence possibly saving me from an agonizing future appointment with a toilet. The hamburger is just a preformed patty. She asked if I wanted onion. I said yes. Well, it came with bits of burnt onion, not raw, which is what I pictured when asked if I want onion on a burger. The burger was tasteless but it filled the void in my stomach. Looking back, maybe the previous visit so long ago wasn't that bad after all. Then again, that day the food was served cold, we were brought the wrong food, my scrambled eggs were just fried with a still runny yolk that they diced up for me. We left that day without eating or paying and I gave a semi-lengthy seminar to the self-taught cook/manager that day, on the proper way to scramble an egg, as well as, the differences in taste and texture of the eggs when prepared in various manners. I'm not a fan of this Waffle House. I'm not going to condemn the entire franchise, but I do refuse to set foot in this one ever again. To Each Their Own.

Clean with friendly service on a Friday at 8:30 am. The cook did a nice job with flavor and presentation.

It has an extensive menu and some of the items sound like they would taste delicious. The chuck wagon steak, sounds great, but tastes pretty rough. It comes with too much gravy, and it is a patty that contains a bunch of fillers, resulting in a "soggy" patty, with strange flavors. The hand cut fries are red skin potatoes, which are an oddity in this area. They aren't douple dipped or cooked long enough, and as a result, come to you limp and the insides are crunchy. The pot roast has a good taste, reminiscent of Kelly, Hormel or Dinty Moore brand can stew. The meat appearance and gravy taste make you wonder, if it is from an industrial-size pre-made dish. The food items we chose were edible, but not worth the drive to make another visit. The only food item that was questionable would be the baked beans. They were prepared with an overpowering maple ingredient, and tasted like a pancake syrup. There were bits of real bacon and ground meat, but you couldn't discern that taste from the maple. I ate them, but it was off putting, and I added pot roast meat to dilute it some. There is no ban on smoking here, and you will have to deal with that smell while dining. There is a table to play dominoes. They have karaoke certain nights. There is an on-site deli that sells a half dozen different sandwich meats. They also offer a long list of desserts. The one menu item I do plan to try, is the cornbread salad, to compare to that of Borroum's. The food quality may not have been what we prefer, but if they post an interesting special, I may return to try it. I do look forward to trying the cornbread salad within a couple weeks. I'm not sure about the name, if it is a play on words, or an honest misspelling (Jake Brakes on semi trucks). To Each Their Own.
