Downtown Corinth, pronounced locally as Car-inth, has really taken off here of late. There is a…read moremajor facelift going on in a previously desolated area South of the railroad tracks. Two married couples bought a city block on Wick and Fillmore Streets. This area is now called SoCo (South Corinth). SoCo has a hip ring to it, but it seems out of place to me. The first thing I think of when I hear SoCo is SoCal (Southern California) and along with that association comes images of Disneyland, Knott's Berry Farm, Waterparks, Legoland, SeaWorld and Zoos and a population of over 22 million. Corinth has none of these things. SoCo and the historical district offers unique specialty shops, business offices, restaurants, a stately and regal courthouse, churches, and the friendliest people you could hope to meet. SoCo area is taking on a classy look with new curbs and landscaping and the businesses that are moving in are more of the chic boutique types. I'm sure it brings in money from female shoppers, but the area really lacks in offering appealing choices to teens and men. This area, along with most of the town, really should invest in bike parking. The only bike parking available in the entirety of Corinth is at the public library and it offers a dozen slots. If SoCo is looking to be more modern and hip it should encourage healthier lifestyles via biking, walking paths, indoor activities for inclement weather (rock wall climbing, trampoline basketball and hacky sack come to mind). Corinth and SoCo have high ambitions to garner the attentions of tourists, but they tend to fall short of offering meaningful true entertainment for all ages. I'm sure the area will continue to grow at a steady pace, but if it desires prosperity it might need to open its mind to new and exciting ventures for the entire family. Get out of the pigeonholed food and boutique mentality. To Each Their Own.

Sweet Sensations Bakery in SoCo is one of my favorites! I love their chicken salad sandwich (both…read morethe "plain" and "fruity" versions)! I've also tried their Taco salad plate which was very good, but their deserts are phenomenal! Yesterday I ordered a piece of chess pie that was so big I decided to eat half for lunch and have the rest at dinner! The drive up window makes it very convenient to pick up your order and the generous portions make whatever you order well worth the price.

We just…read morefinished a wonderful weekend for my daughter's wedding: the venue is beautiful and charming and distinctive, and the fantastic owners provided impeccable customer service, never more than minutes away from helping with whatever we needed. It was more than an event space; it was our home for three days, with room for more than twenty of us to stay and be steps away from every individual attraction. Five enthusiastic stars.

We chose one for a bridesmaid with a newborn to be able to stay with her family, and the other as a place for my florist/director to stay. The only thing that could be better would be for that last spot to have rooms instead of one large open area. The grounds have several options for your perfect wedding spot. We chose outside of the main building overlooking a lake. Chairs were included. The rehearsal dinner was inside the barn area, which was quickly cleaned up to begin decorating for the reception. The tables and tablecloths were included. The kitchen was a good size and ice was provided. Indoor bathrooms were clean. To top it all off, the owners were fantastic. They helped cart guests from their cars to the main area. They checked in often to make sure we were okay. They followed up to make sure we didn't have any questions. They allowed us time to clean up on Sunday around our church time. We could even stay the night Saturday night. I cannot say enough good things about this place. The Wild West themed town across the street was a little country for me, but it proved a fun setting for guests to relax and the "saloon". 10 out of 10! We even rented tuxes from their other businesses and received a discount. We were able to leave the suits at the site and not have the hassle of returning them the next week.

The pavilion where the ceremony was held offers the most incredible view, and our guests were completely mesmerized by its beauty. The reception building is spacious, featuring both upstairs and downstairs areas, along with a huge kitchen that is truly a caterer's dream. One of the greatest blessings was that our entire family and wedding party were able to stay on-site for the entire weekend. The venue's beautiful cabins provided comfortable accommodations for everyone, making the experience even more special. The bride and groom had a BEAUTIFUL honeymoon suite and left for their honeymoon the next morning! We were also able to host the rehearsal dinner in the Main Lodge the night before the wedding, which meant no one had to travel between events. The owners, Kim and Timmy Horton, made sure guests were parked in the appropriate areas and provided transportation to and from the pavilion, allowing everything to run smoothly. Most importantly, Kim and Timmy were wonderful to work with--kind, caring, and genuinely invested in making the weekend perfect. They made us feel like part of their family from the very beginning. Thank you, Kim and Timmy, for helping make my daughter's dream wedding come true. If you're considering this venue, don't hesitate--you will not regret it.

What made it even better were the owners and people that helped there. The owners were extremely hospitable and made us feel welcomed from the minute we arrived. The guide was just as amazing and friendly! We did a normal deer hunt where my wife killed a nice 9 point and then we hunted quail and pheasants with the owner. I wish every place that we have hunted had people like this there!!! And I can't forget about the food. The owners cooked for us and did a fantastic job!! I could not recommend Willow Oak Lodge enough!! Look forward to visiting again.
