The food was great/ great staff/ will for sure. Be back/ Seafood was the Freshest I have ever had

First of all the place was dirty, There were tables that were left uncleared. No one said a word to us as we walked into the door. The tables were not cleaned off and there were at least 6 tables and 3 of those tables stayed dirty the entire time we were there. Which we sat at the bar (figuring we would get a little faster service, NOT) so we sat down and after a long few minutes, the waitress came over and asked us what would you have, I said 2 menus, Please and she left came back a few minutes later and I ordered A Dozen grilled oysters grilled, my girlfriend ordered a cup of gumbo and the grilled shrimp, the grilled oysters (cajon style) were the worst "Cajun" that I had ever tasted and I have had it all over Louisiana. Then when I got my grilled shrimp w/fries and Cole slaw, it was a baked potato, and I never send anything back to the kitchen, anyway the Gumbo was flavorless all was mush except for the shrimp and that was like eating rubber. Bad service, I only tipped10%, bad food and a nasty place, I will never be back read more

The food is well prepared especially the crab claws. Loved them. Service is good with a nice atmosphere. We're here every time we are in town. read more

Grilled Oysters are incredible. Hamburger Steak fantastic and the best shrimp in the Shoals.

I have been going to Cajun's since 1991 and unfortunately it was my ex-husband that introduced me to it. Cajun's was def a win, him, not so much! I have been a regular customer ever since and it is one of the few that are still around that maintain their integrity and uniqueness in a world full of franchise crap restaurants. People would complain about the cigarette smoke but I always loved even that! Old school! The food, fabulous, the staff are allowed to be themselves and I have known so many there over the years, excellent service with big personalities! It's just one of the last of the great hangouts that also happen to have great food and great atmosphere and great company! I haven't been in a while but I think we will ride down from Tennessee this weekend! You should too! But only if you still have a bit of a rebellious streak left in you and remember how to have fun in these otherwise dark days. read more

Stopped by for an afternoon snack and found it fairly empty, so we could sit in any seat. The air conditioning is very strong, so be aware that it will be chilly if you are sitting under a vent. There are TV's everywhere so don't worry about not seeing something sports related from where you're sitting. Our waitress was timely and had a great attitude. We ordered a Seafood Platter to share and it was plenty. It contained fried oysters, shrimp, frog legs, hush puppies, and deviled crab, cole slaw and french fries. Their cocktail sauce might be canned or bottled but it went very well with the platter. The restaurant is heavily decorated with Auburn and Alabama gear, which I expected because we were deep in the heart of Dixie! The menu contained other items I'd like to try as I don't think I had their best with the "heart attack on a platter". I hear their seafood buffet is another event that is not to be missed. I will try to make it back here again if I find myself in this neck of the woods. read more

Well, me and wife decided wanted some seafood. We went there and was busy . She said seat where you wanted. We found a table . A waitress came by and said it would be 15 mins before she could get out drink order. They was definitely short staffed so we left .we will not be back. read more

Yuk! This was the most terrible meal I've had in a while. I used to drive by this place all the time going to work and I love cajun food so it peaked my interest. I looked up their menu and it said they had boudin balls. I don't care for the balls but I LOVE boudin so I thought I'd give it a try. I saw they sold gumbo too and thought I'd try it. Ordered a cup of gumbo and some boudin balls. I was expecting the worse given this is Alabama but I tried to stay positive. Got to my car and took one bite of the boudin ball and it tasted like wet dog smell. It was awful. It also had some thick fish or chicken batter. The gumbo seemed overcooked, gooey, and had no flavor. Sheesh the Zataran's box gumbo is probably better than this. But then again maybe that's what they used since it had those same little red beans you get in the Zataran's red beans and rice. I couldn't finish it so I decided to take it home and give it to my boyfriend. Even he said it tasted odd and wouldn't finish it. Bleh I will definately NOT be back. $14 down the toilet. read more

We had the opportunity to stop into Cajun resturant for dinner last night after a long day of golf, so we were a bit hungry to say the least. Unfortunately we were served some of the worst fried catfish and oyster that I've ever eaten. I have relatives from Louisiana and know that they are some of the best cooks but honestly, in a territory were catfish is prolific, being able to freshly fry catfish should be a staple especially for a "Cajun Seafood" place. On the other hand, Danette, our waitress was super amazing! Stop in for her service and have a beer but avoid the food. read more

The place is more of a bar/lounge that happens to serve a full menu. Atmosphere is laid back and decor is great. Grilled oysters were absolutely wonderful as an appetizer. Wanted to try 1/2 dozen of the grilled oysters and 1/2 dozen of the Cajun baked oysters but they said only if they charged me for 1/2 dozen of each Grouper was good Husbands Cajun catfish was excellent! This used to be my favorite place for great Gumbo and a mean Bloody Mary! Not anymore. I hate to say it but I was very let down. I got the popcorn shrimp dinner and and it was the worst popcorn shrimp I have eaten! My Bloody Mary wasnt horrible but I wouldn't order another. My sons Cherseburger tasted like burnt lobster. The fries were edible I guess. It was just all around not good. Very sad. read more

I have eaten at the Cajun Lounge on several occasions and this place is a lot of fun. It is not a place for families or kids, but for adults it is a blast. The decor is a mix of Wisconsin corner tavern and supper club with a splatter of local team pennants mixed in with some random patterns. It works, you seem to have your own little compartment, so to speak. If you try to see it all, you go blind. The staff is wonderful and friendly and I always try to sit where I can watch the cooking. They cook on an open grill with gas and it is fun to see your dinner getting prepared. The grill is next to the oyster shucking bench. One guy shucks and guy cooks. If you go, make sure you order the Cajun oysters that they cook on the grill. They are on the half sheel, with some seasoning--OMG are they good. I usually eat a dozen in about 90 seconds and I am trying to take my time. This last trip -Halloween night-- I ordered 1/2 dozen and the waitress asked what was a wrong with me? You know that won;t work, she said, get the dozen. I did and she was right..Yum. Their dozen is 13 to 15 oysters. I watched as the oysters were cooking and was actually drooling this last visit. The taste just lingers in my body. I could go on, but it is a great restaurant to eat and chat, the cook loves to talk college football, he is big Alabama supporter. The only down side, is they are only open Wed thru Saturday. But, if you can make a living by working 4 days a week, more power to you. read more

The fourth star is for the grilled oysters. Oh my word they are delicious. Otherwise, the stuffed crab was just ok. There were some things about my visit in particular that didn't thrill me but might not be a problem for others: they were out of the first two beers I ordered and the place really smells like cigarette smoke. But I'd brave all that for the oysters again! read more

Friday night the 14th is August, my fiancé and I came in for dinner, we wanted 1 pound of crab claws, half baked and half fried, the waitress wouldn't charge us the $24.95 price for 1 pound because they were cooked differently. She charged us $18 per half pound. When the baked ones came out, I swear to you there were 9 crab claws on his plate. 9!!!! Then when the fried ones came out the plate was full!! Then I tried to order another half pound for him of the baked ones, and us get charged for 1 full pound of baked claws, the waitress said no, she cannot do that because it was already in the computer. First of the 18.00 for half and 24.95 for a full pound is ridiculous. Then the fact that he got 9!!!!!! We have heard great things about your restaurant but after that experience we will not be back!! read more

Picked up a to go order, went literally maybe 5 minutes down the road to where I live, and the food is cold. Also, always forgets sauces, even asked at the counter if it's there, and still not there. Food isn't that great for the price anyway. read more

The best grilled oysters ever! We have eaten grilled oysters all over the US, Cajun's has the best!

We went to dinner on a Saturday night. We sat ourselves and waited about 20 mins for a server to come by for our drinks. After receiving our drinks we had to wait another 15 mins for the server to come back for our food order. We ordered a steak and the Cajun seafood platter. Our food came to us cold, steak was cold and the Cajun plate had no cajun seasoning. We were brought cajun seasoning so we could sprinkle it over our food and also we were brought a1 for the steak. We then proceeded to wait 20 mins for a ticket. We finally got up to just give her money and she told us to sit back down and she would be with us. We sat back down got our ticket and then had to wait 7 more mins for her to come back and get our money. The server had 6 tables and 2 left during our stay 2 were eating the buffet. Crazy the wait times for 2 tables that needed attention. It smelled horrible of cigarettes and smoke. By the time I left I had a headache, will NOT go back read more

My family and I were very excited to try Cajun's for the first time, last night. Unfortunately, that never happened. The food truck did not show up, there was no notice that they would be unable to make it, and I was unable to reach anyone by phone or online. I just wanted to get in touch with them, thinking maybe they had to park somewhere else and was willing to drive- even to another city. I tried a second number that was posted on their page, spoke with a young woman that said she would find out where they were, and I was hung up on (not sure if that was purposeful). I did receive a response, several hours later, that explained there was illness that kept them from their scheduled service. I totally understand- things happen. However, my husband had just been in contact with them 2 hours before they were to be open, and it seems that notifying your potential customers, via Facebook, of an abrupt change to the schedule would be a wise and courteous thing to do. I accepted the fact that they were sick and decided we would wait and try them out, next time. However, I noticed that my post on their page (asking where they were) had been removed. Why? I asked and they said that I had also posted a comment under the schedule (which I did). So, it didn't need to be in multiple places. I found that to be a really bizarre thing to do. I can't help but feel they didn't want it up, because it wasn't singing their praises. Going out of the way to remove a comment, just seemed like a shady thing to do. I don't know, the whole "experience" was strange and didn't sit right with me. Bummer, because I was really looking forward to it. The Cajun FB Page responded to my review and did not have nice things to say to me. Completely unprofessional. They said they knew I'd resort to a bad review and that They won't "take my review seriously"- wow. Just wow. I wish them luck with their business and health, though. I ate there in April 2018 and had the buffet. There are a lot of items on the buffet but I just really didn't enjoy it very much. Catfish was kind of dry and couldn't be cut with a fork. Fried oysters were small and pretty much fried to death. Fries were greasy. Buffet and an iced tea was $30.95 (and that is buffet and tea for one / quantity one!). I just think this is to high for low quality. Sorry - but I'm going to take this one off my list of frequented restaurants. Even if I have to drive 45 minutes to Anderson Alabama and eat at the Fish Creel to get good catfish and oysters. It is that big of a contrast in quality and price. read more

Good place to eat. The buffet had a small variety of choices, but the food that was on the buffet was great and was "All You Can Eat." However, the buffet is a little expensive being $20 a person, and is only available on Friday and Saturday nights. The menu just seemed a little repetitive to me, and was also a little pricey. Me not being a big fan of catfish, actually enjoyed it. It didn't have an overwhelming fishy taste in my mouth like usual. The waitress we had was very generous and constantly checked on us.
