Ate dinner here this evening and enjoyed a good meal. I went with the smoked half chicken plate with a side of potato salad and a sweet potato. Everything was delicious. The sweet potato was cooked perfectly. The white bbq sauce had a nice kick to it and was very tasty. Very friendly service. Definitely recommend. read more

Ok, baked beans were decent, potato salad (should have technically been listed as "loaded potato salad" which they apparently like around these parts) was a B - minus, and the brisket, while tasty, was tougher than Teddy Roosevelt. Banana pudding was indeed made with actual custard, but lacked grace (acute shortage of vanilla wafers) and was composed of bananas approximately the same age as my great and Beulah. Ribs were tender, but lacking flavor. All BBQ begged for more smoke, including the pulled pork. The pecan pie was very good. Service was perfunctory but adequate. Ambiance was fairly awesome-- the whole place looks hand made and was punctuated with real antiques and tastefully done. I'd be willing to to bet they're having an off day-- the locals swear by the place. The ice cream shop was spectacular, the coffee cafe was good and the t-shirt shop pretty great. read more

Delicious food and a gorgeous atmosphere. I really appreciate someone who can see the side of the road and design a beautiful outpost with restaurant and outdoor area. My husband was highly complementary of the ribs. My brisket pita was surprisingly good and attention was paid to the perfect bite size portions. The waffle fries were great. Compliments on the hog and chicken fries although my son said next time he was going for ribs. Good tea. Our service was very quick and we were seated quickly for a party of 10. The ding dong. Take was good and the banana pudding was eaten very quickly. Warning it is the baked version with meringue. It's easy to say this is the best spot to eat in pickwick. read more

I ordered a the ham and cheese omelet, grits and bacon for breakfast The omelet had so much grease it was pooling on my plate. I turned my plate to the side and grease and oil ran off my omelet it was terrible Omelet was nothing but oil The grits had almost a half a cup of butter in the dish. Our first time having breakfast here. We made it just in time because they stop serving breakfast at 10 AM. We enjoyed eggs, bacon, biscuits and gravy and pancakes. Rebecca was our waitress and she was very friendly and accommodating when we had to switch tables because of a cold draft blowing on us. She checked up on us often. The pancakes were delicious, a little thicker and cake-like, compared to other pancake house recipes and the biscuits and gravy were phenomenal. This is a great place to eat while staying at Pickwick. Service was great! We enjoyed walking around the area and browsing the general store. We each ordered cheeseburgers, one with waffle fries, but my son and I got their homemade French fries. They were awesome! My husband tried the Outpost burger and said the white sauce was similar to a peppercorn ranch. The place was clean and we loved the boat engines on the wall as decor. read more

Service was fine, food was terrible! Lettuce on the salad bar was heaped up with old wilted bag lettuce. I ordered a BLT, and the bacon had been cut into pieces and fried to resemble bacon bits. It was so tuff that it was impossible to eat on toasted bread with a slice of sad tomato and lettuce... way way over priced for what we got. I asked for water and it tasted like molded ice from an uncared for ice machine, I had to switch to coke, iced tea was the same. All and all we over payed for what we ordered. So if you like good food at a reasonable price avoid this place. Also, we were charged 3% for using our visa card... yet we were not told this until the cashier ran it!!! This place is a super cute throw back to an older time and place. The food is ok, but not amazing. The service was great. I got the cheesesteak flatbread. It was a little weird, but not bad. My son had the pulled pork sandwich. Meat was a little dry and the smoky flavor was a bit bitter, like the wood was not aged properly. The general store where you check out was amazing. There's also a heat Little ice cream shoppe a couple doors down. Overall, it's worth checking out, but you probably won't be a regular. read more

We really enjoyed our meal here at The Outpost. The ribs were tasty (a bit dry) but we sauced them up and they were great. We enjoyed the baked beans as well! The service was also really good. The waitress we had for dinner was very nice and did a great job even though we were a fairly large party of 10. We came back for breakfast the next day and again enjoyed the food. The service was slower as it was a busy Saturday morning and the food runners were not as pleasant (no smiles) but our waitress did well and handled our party of 15. The ambiance is really relaxing and enjoyable as well. Bathrooms were clean and dessert looked delicious. There is also a nice playground outside we were able to let the kids play at after our meal. read more

Oh heck yes this place is amazing and the food is wonderful. The views are incredible and they have a little store where you can purchase amazing items. A couple of the workers are a little "stand offish" but I think that's because we are not from that area and they can tell that and I totally respect them for that. read more

What a wonderful place to visit while in Pickwick. So many things on the menu to pick from. Husband chose ribs and was please with the flavor and tenderness. I chose the spud with the pork and white sauce delicious. Surprisingly they had Arnold Palmer on the menu. read more

Waitress was amazing and attentive, food was delicious. I have a 4 out of 5 star because the child's menu didn't have many options, only 3 to choose from, grilled cheese, chicken strips, and pb&j. My kids got the chicken strips, but when we got them, it was literally 1 small chicken strip, and fries. I feel like the portion was so small it was enough to fill up maybe 3 and under, bc my 10&7 year old was still hungry. Other than that, it was good. I highly recommend this establishment it had a very cabin, old-timey, and rustic feel. The service was exceptional very friendly and hands on. My husband and I ate here and got sat down fast, but waited 45 minutes to get our food. Several tables that were sat down after us got their food. My meal was also supposed to come with toast and they didn't bring it out. I reminded them and they brought it but then charged us extra for it. I love the Outpost!!! I recently had them cater a breakfast event for me and it was phenomenal! Jay and his team created an amazing selection of breakfast meats, eggs, biscuits with both chocolate and country gravy, and fresh fruit. Jay even took the time to deliver my order himself and to insure that everything was perfect. I was very impressed with the quality of the food and the care taken to serve me and my clients. I would highly recommend the Outpost to everyone. But also recommend that if you want to experience The Outpost at its best, you have to go to the restaurant and experience it in house.
