Very disappointed. This location on Tweedy and Otis seriously lacks the level of service and quality I've received at other locations. Against my better judgement I stopped here on my lunch break. I had ordered two steak tacos and a mini chicken bowl with white meat. The tacos were skimpy and looked more like Mexican street tacos rather than what's advertised as Boom Boom tacos. And the white meat chicken was practically pulverized. Not the usual chunks of chicken breast, but more like it was finely chopped. The chicken was also very dry, like it had been cooked and then sat out for a while and then cooked some more after it was chopped up. It had a very odd flavor. I will not be visiting this location again. The location on Garfield and Imperial, although further away, always serves it up fresh and tasty. read more

Poor costumer service! I waited 50 minutes for my order and I wanted to cancel it didn't want to wait any longer. I told the cashier named Cindy or Cynthia can't remember her name and she said "just 3 more minutes" I told her no it's okay I just want to cancel I've been waiting for to long already. She replied with "you can't wait 3 more minutes?" then a cook walks by and laughs, I said no I do not want to wait I just want it canceled. She proceeds to tell me I have to do it on my own on the app, I showed her my order on the app and it doesn't give me an option to cancel, I asked if she can help me or a supervisor, she looked confused and then called her supervisor on the phone then tells me they will cancel it. I asked her will I get an email confirmation or something to confirm that I will get a refund back, and she says " I don't know ". It's important to train workers about basic costumer service and respect! Many other groups have been waiting 1 hour plus for their order, management is not doing their job correctly just scheduling 1 cook . As for the cashier and cook who walked by, the rudeness was uncalled for when all I wanted was to cancel my order! Do better! Respect goes a long way. read more

I came back to this WaBa Grill location last night with my boyfriend over an HOUR before they closed, and the girl at the front said that they already cleaned everything up so they can't make it for us. So then I asked for the tofu bowl instead, and she said she can't because the grill is all cleaned already. It was 9:24 pm and they didn't close till 10:30pm. I'm really disappointed . This location is my go to spot when I'm craving waba ! Let's start with the customer service not the best not the worst , just blah. I bought a bowl of shrimp and a bowl of salmon , they aren't the cheapest bowls on the menu if you know you know. I asked for chili sauce and for teriyaki sauce they only gave me 3 of each , i asked for more I even offered to pay extra. Employees tells me that I can't purchase no more sauce and that I have reached my limit !!! This really made me mad, over a sauce you're gonna risk losing a regular customer ? My second complaint is the actual bowl , they was really stingy with their quantity of rice it's almost as if they counted each grain rice . I'll upload a picture if possible . The place is very clean and organized. When you walk in you see a fire lit grill. No oil no skin or cooking oil. Ordered: grilled Chicken and beef with brown rice and kale salad in the side Love it! As someone who grew up in South Gate most of my life, I've seen the evolution of businesses down Tweedy Blvd throughout the last 30 years. I walk in and this place looks like a tornado passed through and wrecked the place. That, and probably the store manager doesn't give a damn about the place. The restroom is filthy, the floors are dirty, unswept, unmopped, broken signs in the dining area, trash all over the floor. How the hell do you become manager of this place? If I could I would give it zero stars it's very disappointing that they are introducing new items to their menu, however, their staff is not getting train in properly preparing the food or they just don't care. I ordered a chicken wrap I got a charcoal wrap tastes like burnt tortilla the employee had to realized he overlooked the tortilla and he still gave it to me like that. It seems like WaBa's are picking up where Yoshinoya failed, and they are doing a pretty good job. The food is really good, and I guess it is fresher or healthier than other places because they charge a little bit more per plate/bowl. I have been to a couple of locations and I'm yet to have a bad experience. I don't like to give chain stores a high rating because since they all follow the same protocol there is really nothing that sets one apart from the other. Unless of course you have a horrible experience at one, but that hasn't been the case so far for me. The food is prepared promptly and if you prefer seafood over chicken/beef they have that option. I would highly suggest getting the half and half and enjoying the best of both worlds. Don't forget the WaBa hot sauce and teriyaki sauce on the side. read more

I don't like leaving a negative review, but the customer service provided me today at around 3:20pm, Order Number: 124 by Evelyn were horrible. When greeting me, she seemed as if I was an inconvenience to her. When taking my order she seemed to be dismissive and had quite the attitude. Even after handing my order to me, she was not so nice or in any means or way Customer Service oriented. Even though the food was good, I don't think I want to come back here again and risk the odds of having to feel bad for being there. I would highly suggest either training current team or hiring candidates that know how to build customer relations & public relations. The fact that I did not enjoy my customer experience here easily makes me want to just go to a further location. I know that the Flame Broiler on Firestone even offers better customer service than this. Setting the poor customer service aside, the place itself was pretty clean and took them about 3 minutes to serve my order which is pretty good. I was happy with everything else, just not the service. 2/25/2018 I have switched my review to a 5 star because I came back and my experience was amazing. I came around 5:15 on this day and was helped by Sandra. She took my order and even cooked and put together my order! She was very quick and efficient in her work. She really displayed strong customer service skills. It really gave me a change of heart after coming here and not having to worry about having a negative experience. Just want to say that this young lady does treat the place as if it were her own, she made me feel just like at home. Thank you Sandra for the utmost wonderful experience! Hey, I'm a big fan of teriyaki. I love just about everything WabaGrill has to offer. Usually I'll go for their chicken bowl combo. Located right inside a shopping center that boasts plenty of parking, this location is quite small inside with a couple of tables where you can enjoy your food. I'm a sucker for the chicken bowls with brown rice especially!!! Mmmm! There is plenty of teriyaki sauce as well as hot sauce available for self serving. What more can I say about this place except that they will continue to get my business???? You guys just keep feeding me with your tasty bowls and I'll keep giving you guys my cash and business!!!!! read more

I give this Waba Grill 2 stars because the location is large and has plenty of seats. Also because there's nothing else remotely healthy in the area. However they certainly reheat their chicken as it was as dry as the Sahara desert and burnt. On top of it I ordered brown rice with my bowl and they gave me white rice. Does nobody read? When I pointed it out to the cashier she simply gave me a bowl of brown rice and I had to mix it all with my chicken and sauce. The veggie bowl is like $9 so I am not being cheap but I felt like I ate something worth $5. read more

My only complaint is seeing the male cook with the glasses at the SoutH Gate location was wearing his face covering below his mouth while cooking the food and walking around the kitchen area talking to other employees. Public Health will be notified if this doesn't get taken care of. read more

I give them a star because they're at least showing up to work. So I stopped going there when that used to be my everyday stop. The chefs are good but the customer service here is pretty bad. No one smiles when they greet you and they have messed up my order a least 3 different times that I've gone in. When you ask for extras they're respond isn't welcoming. I home they fix the personnel there needs to love what they do a little more. Would love to have this place liven up. Southgate is a cool city and it's getting better with the new construction going on. read more
