Although, during this COVID-19 time, I understand establishments taking precautions & putting up clear partitions to separate customers from employees, however i would expect that when employees serve customers, they would not require people to get closer to each other in order to carryout their new ways of serving. I was required to receive my food today, very close to other customers. THIS WAS SO UNCOMFORTABLE, being that there was a whole area available to leave my bowl at (away from others, including employees) within reach of the server. The server left my order at the partition, requiring me to get near everyone . Again I understand partitions are placed for our safety, but our safety ends when we get close or each other. I guess I just expected the server to use common sense-so I wouldn't need to get close to the other customers (nor her/himself). This made me so uncomfortable, but again 'common sense ' isn't so common. Defeats the purpose of social distancing, when there is a farther space to place the order at. I don't think i'll be going back there anymore & I've been a customer for over 10 yrs. Management-speak to your staff, have them ENCOURAGE & PROMOTE SOCIAL DISTANCING, not just your new rules-sometimes your new rules need to be modified, given the situation. Vosited waba grill in commerce and the staff Emely, Bernardo and Tito were so professional and attentive. Everything was great BUT the music was bland and a bit boring. I recommend to switch it up to hip hop and something modern to cater to the targeted customers. I bet you will get more happy customers and you will not regret switching the music. Why do I continue to go here? Duh, b/c there are very few healthy choices around my office in Commerce and the Food Court on Rickenbacker and Eastern gets tiresome. You may be wondering why the one star, well....it's not b/c of the food. As everyone has said, it's good. As far as the chicken goes, it's not the healthiest chicken, it's dark meat and fatty, but I can deal with that. The one star is for the service. In the Bell/Maywood/Cudahy area where I work...well, finding yummy AND healthy food is practically impossible. I've been here lots of times because it's close by in Commerce, but it had been awhile when I stopped in a few days ago. My boss and two colleagues and I had just finished a meeting when we decided we were hungry and tired of eating fatty food. I got the steak bowl with veggies and brown rice. The steak is very moist and surprisingly lean. The cabbage was nicely steamed with still a good amount of crunch, but the broccoli was either a bit too mushy or not cooked enough -- not good. And I'm not normally a brown rice person, but this rice was perfectly sticky, nutty, and not the least bit bland. I also had them add thinly sliced green onions for a nice crunch and bite, which was a good idea. I also love a teriyaki bowl that doesn't need to be drowned in sauce to be edible, so this was pretty close to perfect. Others in my group had the large chicken salad (only 5 Weight Watchers points...really???), chicken bowl, and the new shrimp bowl. Everything was fresh, made-to-order, piping hot, and yummy. None of the others had been here before, and they all said they'd come back. No entree was more than $7.50, so a relatively good deal for a healthy meal. First thought: Damn, no place to sit. Recommendation: Half & Half with green onions and brown rice. So i work behind the Target was looking for a quick and healthier bite to eat than going to McDonalds or Carl's Jr for my lunch and i found this a WaBa! It was packed, packed packed, but the workers were on a hustle and they got the line down pretty quick! I've come back a couple of times and they're always busy but always manage to get their orders out really quick so really happy about that. The food is cooked just as well as any other WaBa I've ever been to on non-busier days. They know how to keep customers happy and move the line along very quickly. But stay busy and getting orders down takes a toll on the dining area inside and outside. (They have two tables located right outside the door if the 8 tables inside are full.) Because they get so busy it seems as though they don't always have a minute to take away to wipe down tables or sweep real. I honestly don't blame them or am angry about it, just wish they could work out a system to get everything in order to keep clean. Coming in excited for a chicken bowl as a post meal work out, me and my girlfriend got attended by this young girl who look non motivated in working in the food industry, as we all have lunch hours coming to WaBa Grill to eat is a perfect meal, we been here several times and it always resolves into being helped out by bitchy faces, and bad moods, replace them as people see this happen from this day on, here's what happened, my girlfriend served her self 4 little cups of teriyaki sauce and there was no caps, we asked her if we can have caps and she says "those are for customer who eat here, you can grab a 2 go pack" as we already had the cup full of teriyaki to the rim.. she says "you can leave them there, I'll throw them away" me and my girlfriend looked at each Other like "okkkayyyyy" I never have a problem anywhere else, sauces are on the side at other locations and there's no limit to how much you wanna take home. Getting my order bagged up. I see inside and there's 3 bowls!!!! I looked at my girlfriend like fuck yes a free bowl, and I asked her how much did it say on the receipt and my girlfriend says 29 bucks.!! only ordered 2. We never said anything about a 3rd bowl. I went to this location today for a couple of kids bowls. All was fine until I wanted one of them to be tofu and vegetables. At first the cashier took my order, no problem. But then another employee came in from behind and said, " no, we don't do tofu for kids bowls." I asked, " why not? Kids can't be vegetarian?" No, good response from employee. Of course, she did say only the large bowls offer tofu. So, I guess only adults can be vegetarian? I had to get an unwanted portion, that will be waisted, or not get protein for a child? so i was driving on the freeway for over an hour and all i had for lunch was a ham sandwich. i decided to get off the freeway and look for a place to eat before it got too late, and then head home. i thought it was a bit suspicious to see all these things that said stuff like "eat healthy" at a teriyaki chicken place, but still decided to try it anyway. the menu is pretty simple....chicken, beef, salmon....steamed vegetables or salad. i got the chicken and beef plate ($7.95) because i wanted to know what they both tasted like, and when i opened the cover, it didn't seem like much food. but i dug in and it was actually pretty good. it was filling, the sauce was good, they had sriracha, and it came with a tiny amount of salad and half of an orange. since it came with a free drink, the price didn't seem that bad either. when all is said and done, this place isn't as "healthy" as they might hope it is. but then again, i'm sure it's a bit better than a double bacon cheeseburger with a big basket of fries dipped in ranch sauce. and it's definitely better than the chicken they have at L&L's Hawaiian BBQ! i grabbed a menu (which somehow expands their few offerings into a whole menu) and apparently they have locations all over the place, including near my neighborhood. so i found a decent teriyaki place that i can frequent whenever i'm in the mood for it :) read more
