This branch is a classic example of what's gone wrong with Smith's. For many years this store had two floors, or to be more accurate a floor and a half as the upstairs floor was only half the size of downstairs. Downstairs you'd find newspapers, magazines, books and stationary and upstairs was the entertainment section offering records and videos (when I first started shopping there) and more latterly cds, dvds and computer games.
However upstairs has now been closed off and there's no longer an entertainment section, which was always the big attraction for me. Downstairs hasn't changed much but I generally buy books from Asda these days as they tend to be cheaper and I also tend to buy stationary from the Works or Home Bargains for the same reason. read more
