This is a real antiquarian bookstore in Wales. There are Welsh titles, but mostly English-language…read morebooks. Probably 100% of the items on the shelves would be "treasures" for a buyer with the right interests. When I visited, there were 3 copies (!!!) of the Myvyrian Archaiology of Wales (a treasure by any standard) on the shelves. Unfortunately for me, the items are priced according to their value: the Myvyrian Archaiology ranged from around £300 for a plain binding of the 1870 edition to around £800 for the three-volume 1801-07 edition. This is not a place to find bargains on antique books but, if you want to find a rare book, your chances of finding it here are good. On-street parking in Llandudno is a very dicey business. The traffic is surprisingly heavy, considering the town is literally on the way to nowhere.

It's also a bit out of the way compared to other bookshops in town and because of this it's easy to forget it's even there. If you do manage to remember to go there then you might find a bargain or two but often they have the same books you'll find for the same price in Bookwise or Publishers Book Clearance. Finally you'll often find the books are a bit weathered, clearly the sea breezes and salty atmosphere have an effect on paper. It's still worth the odd browse though.

Always lots of top authors - Tom Clancy, John Connolly, Mark Billingham etc etc - at the cheapest prices I've seen. However it no longer holds the appeal it used to. It's on two floors with cards, stationary, papers and mags and CD's and DVD's downstairs and books upstairs. The fixtures and fittings downstairs are quite high which allows a lot of stock to be displayed but it also makes the shop floor a bit dark and claustrophobic. I suppose the problem is that Smiths are no longer as cheap as they used to be and there is now more competition on the high street with HMV and Card Outlet amongst others moving into town and Asda opening up a much bigger store a few years back. It's handily located if you're after a paper but most of what they sell you can pick up cheaper elsewhere.

On TripAdvisor, they regularly insult and mock customers who leave honest feedback -- some of the replies come across as bullying. Their Instagram is just as unprofessional, filled with childish stories, digs at other local coffee shops, and even personal posts that have no place on a business account. One recent story mocked a teenager who works at McDonald's, which I found really alarming. A café should be about good food, a welcoming space, and basic respect -- none of which were present here. Contrary to the name 'Book Corner' isn't a book shop and strictly speaking isn't on a corner,…read morealthough it is very close to one (the old Coach Tour place next door is on the corner). It is in fact a small but well stocked newsagents. They stock a wide selection of newspapers and magazines as well as confectionary and tobacco products. You can also pay the Idiot Tax (ie play Lotto) here. In the Summer they usually have a couple of racks of cheap paperbacks outside which presumably accounts for the name. It is a handy shop if you're at the bottom end of town and don't fancy a hike up to Smiths to buy a paper, although if you're looking to buy a book I'd try Bookwise which is just across the road. It's close to the railway station and coach park so no doubt they pick up quite a bit of passing trade from passing travellers.
