If I had to choose something that I had to eat everyday for the rest of my life this would be the top contender. Wow, hands down the absolute best hot dog I have ever eaten. I HATE hot dogs, but this little hole in the wall just turned the table completely around for me. Don't let this little tiny building fool you, they have a lot to offer! The staff was so friendly as well, and for the freshness they offer. they were very quick. I was in a hurry and needed to grab lunch before work, so I just ordered their $4 10 in. chili cheese hot dog special off of their billboard. I thought that price was already a steal but when I saw the actual hot dog, boy was I right! That hot dog was twice as big as the sonic chili cheese hot dog, and the quality was amazing. One thing that stood out the most was the bun. The bun was this crispy yet flakey bread that was just indescribable. It tasted so amazing that if I wasn't counting the carbs, I would devour just the bread itself. The hot dog itself was also so thick and had plenty of meat. I can also tell that the cheese and chili were also fresh too. I went to W Grill after a flight back to Houston. I had seen the place a few times and decided to grab a bite before heading home.... Great decision. I stared at the menu for about 5 minutes and decided on the philly cheese steak. The guy who helped me was extremely courteous and sincerely made me feel like he appreciated my business. I don't know if that was his personality or his professionalism, but either way it was a plus in my book. I waited til I got home to eat - it was well worth the wait. The bread was a little sweet, which I really enjoy. The meat was great quality, moist and seasoned perfectly. The provolone, onions and peppers rounded out a great sandwich. The steak fries were cooked well and seasoned with rock salt (?). The guy gave me a frequent visitor card; after the 6th entree the 7th is on them. My girlfriend and I were craving burgers and decided to give W grill a try. I've had innumerable burgers from numerous places, so I expect a lot from ground red meat. What I got at W grill was good by burger standards, but nothing spectacular. My burger was the homemade jalapeño burger, which had the usual burger fixings plus jalapeños and avocado. The neat thing about the jalapeños was their location in the burger: they were diced and cooked in the beef. I've seen this in a few other places, and I'm always pleasantly surprise when I find a burger like this. My girlfriend decided to try a barbeque chicken burger, which ended up a little overcooked for her taste... she refused to let go of my burger after trying it! One more note, steak fries!! Overall, the staff here were very friendly, the menu selection is diverse, and the food is good. If I'm anywhere in the area and craving a burger, I'm stopping at W's again, and hopefully nothing will be overcooked next time. read more

If you're going here, you're going for the ritas, not the food. The food wasn't bad-but it definitely wasn't great. The margaritas were really good, they were large and reasonably priced. They are more sweet then a normal margarita but I am not complaining, you can also add an extra shot if you want. I got the beef tacos and they really weren't bad at all, but if I wanted tacos I would go right next store to velvet taco. I come here for the margaritas. There are plenty of reasons to stop by this interesting dual drive-thru grill, despite seeming somewhat lackluster compared to the flashy spots up and down Washington. A personal favorite of mine is the 1/4 Burger w/Fries and refreshing lemonade. A simple order, but one that is made on a flat-top grill with fresh beef and golden potato buns. The old-school preparation of the food is nostalgic and reminds me of almost burning buns on the grill myself. If burgers are not your thing, the Cuban sandwich is excellent with spiral ham and grilled onions on a sweet roll hoagie. For those living dangerously I suggest the Devil Dog, the kick of the jalapeños is offset perfectly by the onions, tomatoes & beef dog. Finally, the margarita's are well worth the price even if it seems high. In addition to the enormous size, they are made with tequila as opposed to wine and are available to order from the drive-thru within a few minutes of ordering. I suggest the Sangria blend, but all flavors are equally refreshing and even have the option of "Skinny" for those looking to watch their sugar intake and their dental health. read more

I'm going to have to say that W Grill has a new fan. I have passed by this place many times since they converted it from the Bright and Early. I've been hesitant to visit, because I was a huge fan of Mills Duncan concept drive thru coffee shop. I was in the area for lunch so I thought I would give it a shot. They have a duel drive thru, but I decided to park and walk in, place my order and enjoy some of the good patio weather we had been having in Houston. Since the sign out front has been advertising 100% Black Angus burger I thought I should give it a shot. Let me tell you folks, it did not disappoint. It could be that I wasn't expecting much from the burger, but it was really good. It starts with a half pound prefab beef patty cooked on a gas broiler. They cook it to order, as a matter of fact it looks like everything is cooked to order, so you will need to give them a few minutes. This is important if your in one of the drive thru windows. They toast your bread on the grill and when both are ready it is stacked in a sweet sour dough bun with lettuce, tomato, purple onion, and sliced dill pickles. I added American cheese and bacon, just like any red blooded American should and presto, you have a piece of Americana oozing with burger juices and melted cheese. The burger came with crispy steak fries and little packets of yellow mustard, mayonnaise, and ketchup. Folks, I bit into this masterpiece and it just oozed all over the basket it was served in. The burger is cooked medium well, and they still managed to keep the burger juicy. I also ate all of the steak fries, I typically don't waste valuable stomach real estate on fries, but I couldn't stop eating them. They were hot on the inside, even after I was finished with the burger. I will be back very soon, all the menu items are reasonably priced and if the rest of the menu is as good as the burger, these guys are headed in the right direction. I also want to add that W Grill kept a large portion of the Bright and Early breakfast menu and the Duncan Coffee. I'm glad to know I can still pick up fresh roasted coffee beans and a breakfast croissant sandwich. read more

Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner. One stop shopping on Washington. I had passed by this place a million times, ever intrigued by the "Angus Burgers" displayed boldly on the sign out front. Too bad I'm not normally in the area during breakfast or lunch, and on nights and weekends it's easy to forget about the W grill, being so small and walk-up/drive-thru only. But finally the stars aligned one morning and I grabbed some breakfast tacos, which were spectacular. Light fluffy eggs mixed with bits of bacon, rather than simply having strips laid in, made each bite a winner wrapped in a golden brown, toasty tortilla. Paired with a cup of great coffee - an array of cappuccinos, macchiatos, and the like - made for a satisfying start to the day. On that experience alone I'm eager to return for one of their burgers. I stopped by one morning for a couple of breakfast tacos: Egg white, ham, and cheese. They were very good! A couple of nights later, we stopped by there for burgers. I had the turkey burger, which was excellent. The steak fries were still crispy when I got home, even though they were in a styrofoam container... When we were ordering, the super enthusiastic employee (who actually appeared to be the owner) informed us that they grill everything to order, and that they are happy to add, substitute, or change anything. We love W Grill. The jalapeno burger and grilled chicken sandwich (not as boring as it sounds) are our top two favorites. The chicken on the sandwich is a very generous portion and the onion rings are delish! The burger isn't too spicy, but has a nice heat to it. The spinach salad is very good, too. The food is fresh and the the margaritas and wine to go sets the W apart. They make your order fresh, and you might wait 6 or 7 minutes, but it's still fast. They have a nice patio (no indoor seating to speak of) and are dog-friendly - they have treats for your pup! read more

It was Mother's Day and as always, I was being indecisive. I finally decided that I wanted vietnamese and a to-go margarita (yes, 2 different stops/restaurants). I've had positive experiences at W Grill previously, including great customer service, but this day I rolled up around 8:30pm (they were supposed to be open until 9pm). I was greeted by a man waving at me from their building, signaling that they were closed. I pulled up next to him and asked if I could just get a margarita. I could see the employees still being very active inside. The guy proceeded to tell me that they were closed - with an attitude. I looked for a special sign indicating Mother's Day early closing but found nothing. I asked the guy where the sign was (I really wanted that margarita since I drove to that area specifically for it). His response, in a VERY UN-CUSTOMER-FRIENDLY-way, was that he was the owner and he was letting his employees get off early to be with their moms. First of all, there is a nice way to say everything, especially when you are the owner of an eatery and customers make or break you. Secondly, if you REALLY cared that much about your employees spending time with their moms, you would have planned ahead and been open only half a day or closed all day, with proper signage in place. Anyway, he really annoyed me because he didn't have to respond with an attitude. Maybe I caught him at bad moment or it was a bad day for him, however, when you're the owner of an establishment like this, you should know better and you should put customers first. Ok - I have eaten here several times and the food has always been ok and drinks were good (not great) and the price I've always thought was higher than normal but you can get a margarita at the drive through. Tonight I went and literally the only car on either side and I could see 3 people inside. I waited at menu board and no service for 8 minutes so I pulled up to window thinking maybe intercom was broken, again no service and this time I knocked on glass and also trying talking to them since I could hear them talking but still no service. I of course left and went somewhere else but I couldn't believe the poor service! Hearty portions and traditional plates with a twist. Wide variety. Gets crowded between 730 and 9p, so call ahead your order if you can. This place is AWESOME!! It is a bit more than whataburger, but I actually do not feel like I am in a food coma after eating half of one of their sandwiches, burgers, wraps, etc. Their chicken ranch wrap is loaded with chicken, not just lettuce and cheese. There is not a ton of ranch either, which makes it even healthier! They finally got a larger shade-maker, but the place is still clean and busy as usual. Breakfast croissants are also to die for, but are not one of the healthier items on the list. Taste great with the mexican coffee as well!
