I've been going to Sarah for a few years now and she's my favorite dentist ever. Her daughter Dr. Wu is also a dentist here and awesome as well. They always take care of my teeth cleanings and do the very best work. Dr. Wong will also make an effort to ask how you are and have the best conversations. I find it also awesome her and her daughter attended my old high school in SF, Lowell! read more

Grace at the front desk is unbelievably useless. "Can you tell me what dates are available for next year?" She hangs up on me. Then I call back, she says "We are only taking referrals, can you hold" Why would I hold when you aren't taking new patients... so unhelpful read more

Fantastic family-owned practice conveniently located in downtown SF! Open on Saturdays, which is also a big plus. They are very reasonably priced, will work with your insurance, and will not try to upsell you. Perhaps the trade off is that this not the most glitzy practice if that is what you are looking for (personally, those practices are not my preference and may be more likely to push unnecessary work/ purchases), but W Dentistry has everything you need and provides excellent quality dental care. Honest, friendly, and efficient team of professionals. read more

I came here after a rather traumatic experience at another dentist that tried to upsell me on a bunch of procedures that I didn't need. Dr. Wong was honest, quick, and attentive. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. They even sent me a scan of a paper that fell out of my purse on the way out! read more

I'm so glad that I found this dentistry in the city! Dr. Wong and Dr. Woo are both super friendly and very patient in discussing with me treatment options. I have not been a fan of going to dentists... but Dr. Wong and Dr. Woo always make my visits enjoyable:) The ladies at the reception desk are also very nice and helpful when making appointments and checking insurance info! read more

Love this place! It's hard to find a good dentist so I am so happy to have found these ladies. They do amazing work. I feel so much better now. I recommend them read more

I have known Dr. Wong for several decades and she is very professional and a wonderful dentist. Her daughter, Dr. Woo, joined the practice a few years ago and she too is very professional, knowledgeable, and a wonderful dentist too. I'm so happy that I'll have a dentist for several more decades. The front office is very nice and scheduling appointments have never been a problem. read more

I am so glad I found this family friendly dental office. I personally switched over to see Dr. Woo as my primary dentist after feeling disconnected and oversold on services at my previous dental office. This office does not have TVs to watch during cleanings like my last dental office but it has a reassuring friendly vibe that made me feel like they cared about me and was not trying to upsell me. Dr. Woo has patiently listened to my issues and took ownership of communicating with my other doctors to outline a long term dental plan since I needed oral surgery and braces. I really appreciated her guidance since I had consulted multiple oral surgeons and orthodontists with differing opinions for treatment. She made sure I felt comfortable and confident in how to proceed and I'm happy with the plan she recommended. Besides my own positive experience, my two year old also loves this office. Dr. Wong is his pediatric dentist and amazingly, he was not terrified during his visit as I had anticipated. She is also super friendly and patient so he did not have a meltdown. He even wants to return because they gave him a box to select stickers or a little toy at the end of the visit. read more

I've been to many different dentists over the years, just from moving around and changing insurance often. I'm extremely happy I found Dr. Wong right when I moved to San Francisco (and managed to stay 5 years) who is the first dentist I really felt comfortable with and trusted. I was finally getting braces as an adult, and Dr. Wong made me feel very cared for by letting me know she was in my corner and coordinating seamlessly with my orthodontist. Cleanings were always thorough, but gentle, and I never felt like I was being rushed through any appointment, having room to ask questions and get good feedback. Another thing that really sets Dr. Wong apart is that she takes it upon herself to understand or help you navigate insurance - my usual experience with providers is that they don't try to understand the nuances of insurance or billing, which can lead to high costs for patients. When I overheard her giving this sort of advice to another patient, I made sure to let her know that it was very much appreciated. She replied that since it is hard for herself as a patient who is also a provider, she tries to learn what she can and make sure her patients understand as well. I also have seen Dr. Woo for a cleaning and whitening - she was also extremely thorough, knowledgeable, and friendly. Linda, at the front desk, is also very friendly and on the ball - I'm amazed at how I only come in 2 times a year, but she recognizes me over the phone when I call to make or change an appointment, not just in person. The overall experience between the front desk and dentists makes me feel like everything is under control and being handled, and I just have to show up for appointments without any running around or guess work in between. Leaving W Dentistry is one of the main things that made me sad to leave SF; if I move back, I'm 100% going back. Thank you for all of your help over the years! read more

My dentist of 25 years retired in 2018 and since then, I've tried out two dentists looking for someone as good as him. It's so hard! My friend told me to try W Denistry -- its a mother, Dr. Sarah Wong, and her daughter, Dr. Elizabeth Woo -- so I tried them. They are GREAT! I've had two appointments in two days and I have such a sense of RELIEF that I can finally say, "This is my permanent dentist from now on." Dr. Woo was so efficient and outstanding! Everyone in the office is efficient and so friendly and absolutely work with you regarding billing, everything. It's been such a great experience. What I liked most was that Dr. Woo was super realistic, worked within my insurance budget, and unlike so many dentists these days, she didn't try to "sell" me on unnecessary cosmetic work. There was no pressure -- Dr. Woo laid out in very simple terms what options I had for the 3 teeth I needed fixed. It was quite simply a wonderful dental experience and just today, instead of leaving a dentist office worried about cost, or if I'd been told something I didn't feel I needed, I left thinking -- I swear to God -- happy, relieved, and looking FORWARD to my next appointment! If you're looking for an honest, trustworthy, no nonsense and TALENTED dentist, Dr. Woo is it. And I can't believe she was able to fix my three 3 teeth so quickly. I keep looking in the mirror. I'm telling you, try out W Dentistry! Jenny Stewart read more

I've been with W Dentistry for the past 4 years and I can't recommend them enough. I have a lot of dental issues and have had plenty of bad experiences. Dr. Wong and Woo are among the best I've ever had: transparent, great outcomes and fun (never would've thought I would be saying that about a dentist office). Highly recommend!! read more

I've never liked going to the dentist. I stayed for the quality and service from both Dr. Wong and Dr. Woo. Dr. Wong did my teeth cleaning and whitening right before my wedding and I had so many compliments. Over the years I've referred family and friends to Dr. Woo and Dr. Wong. Hard to find great dentists that don't try taking your money and are great at what they do. read more

I was in a rush and needed to be seen by a dentist STAT. Let's just say it had been a while since my last cleaning, and I knew my next dentist would have their work cut out for them. Sigh... I was not looking forward to this. I came to Dr. Wong, her daughter, and their staff after looking into dentists covered by Delta dental. I could not be more grateful that I came to see them. They are a PHENOMENAL team that cleaned my teeth like no other, and gave me incredibly honest and actionable direction. And frankly, it didn't feel like it was dentist waving their finger at me, they were telling me to change my habits because they were genuinely interested in MY HEALTH. Dr. Wong and the team have changed my view of what dentistry should be. Thank you for everything to the entire team! read more

I have been going to W Dentistry for about 20 years, back when it was just Dr. Sarah Wong DDS! I used to go all the way to Chinatown (even when I was living in the South Bay) to see Dr. Wong, and now her daughter, Dr. Elizabeth Woo, is working alongside her at the practice, now located right off Union Square. This is truly an honest, hardworking group of professionals. Dr. Wong and Dr. Woo are very kind, knowledgeable people. They are "conservative" with treatment suggestions (which is what you want in a dentist) and reasonable, they have a lot of experience, and they offer many services in-house (very reasonably priced custom whitening, too). I come here for my regular dental cleanings and have also gotten whitening as well as Invisalign, the pricing and results of which I am pleased with. The dental assistant, Edna, is very competent and sweet, and the front desk staff, who have been there for early as long as Dr. Wong and Dr. Woo, Linda and Pauline, are wonderful. They're always friendly and helpful, and they've never made a mistake booking or rescheduling an appointment for me. Whenever I visit, we chat, and it feels like we're all friends and family. For a short couple of years when I was a teenager, my dental insurance did not cover Dr. Wong (not my choice, my parents'), and I got a taste of other dentistries, which quite frankly behaved like crooks and car salesmen. I had been spoiled by Dr. Wong! As soon as I could, I started going back to Dr. Wong and did not hesitate to even private-pay because I trust her so much with my dental healthcare. So glad Dr. Woo is around my age - even after Dr. Wong retires, I won't have to worry about finding another dentist as long as I stay in the Bay! Now that Dr. Woo has been in the picture for the past two years, they're an even better team, because Dr. Wong has the support of her daughter, who is also a talented dentist. Sometimes either one will pop into the exam room to weigh in and offer a second opinion - but the philosophy is the same - take excellent care of the patient and don't take advantage of their ignorance. I highly recommend W Dentistry - all these five-star reviews are spot-on. Dr. Wong, Dr. Woo, and their team are fantastic. Five stars and two big thumbs up! read more

I'm surprised at so many good reviews. I wish I had half the experience that others here are describing. I went to my first visit with Dr. Sarah Wong from referral from a coworker. I explained I wanted to get a cleaning and checked for wisdom teeth removal but explained I had been hesitant about Dentists after a bad visit with a previous dentist. I knew my wisdom teeth were coming in already but wanted to find out if they knew of a good place and if they knew the pricing. It went downhill there and it felt like some strange scare tactics were being used. The cleaning was rushed and the doctor kept trying to speak with me during the procedure and could barely hear them. And then they kept telling me that I need to get this wisdom teeth removal done now and it could cost me 10K and if I couldn't afford it maybe I could visit one of the dental schools but said in such a condescending way. It was so strange. I had insurance. Why would you use these scare tactics and then keep insisting I take the referral to the DDS that you recommend who is going to charge 10K? It was just not comfortable and honestly very strange. Then they just booked a follow up visit for later this year and I walked out wondering why they had booked that visit for me when I needed wisdom teeth removal. The nice person at the front desk even gave me a look like "i'm sorry" and I thought well that was kind at least. Thankfully I followed my instincts and visited another dentist who could recommend me to a DDS for the procedure who could work me. Needless to say, that 10K turned out to be a 600.00 fee for me and the DDS did a great job. read more

My boyfriend and I were in need of a dentist during our trip to San Francisco. We've heard good things about the mother and daughter team at W Dentistry, but it wasn't until we experienced it ourselves that we believed what we heard! First, for my boyfriend. - his upper left back molar was feeling sensitive to cold water after a general dentist in Philadelphia did a filling on it a couple of months ago. Dr. Woo was very transparent in her exam, explaining to us what was on the x-ray, and recommending only necessary treatment. Dr. Woo was able to repair the problem, which was actually a gap between the filling and the tooth. He was so comfortable, he even fell asleep in the chair! The sensitivity completely disappeared and his tooth now feels 100%! For me - I was in need of a cleaning and whitening since I was attending a friend's wedding that weekend. Dr. Woo really spent her time cleaning every surface of my teeth. I've never had such a thorough cleaning. Afterwards, I did the in-office ZOOM whitening and did not experience any sensitivity at all. Dr. Woo took the necessary precautions to make sure that my gums were protected and that I did not feel pain during and after the treatment. It has been 1 month now, and my teeth still feel clean and look SO white! Thank you Dr. Woo and team for fixing the sensitivity problem for my boyfriend and for a pleasant experience at the dentist! read more

I've been to a lot of dentists, and have been traumatized by a couple of them, so to say I was nervous about going to a new dentist is an understatement. I'm originally from the Central Valley , and I grew really tired of traveling out there on weekends to see a dentist who tried to squeeze every last dime out of me. This is were W Dentistry comes in. The mother-daughter team came recommended to me by coworkers, and I couldn't be happier. Getting appointments has been a breeze, which is reassuring, because I have a lot of random painful dental issues that pop up. I was able to be seen two days after I called them, which was one day before my vacation. I was concerned about pain I was having, and they got me in right away. Never have I had a more thorough and gentle cleaning. I'm surprised that others are saying they feel it was rushed, but it didn't feel this way at all to me. Everything was carefully explained, and everyone was SO kind. I recently went back to have a filling done, and I swear, it was the most painless experience I've ever had at the dentist. No pain from the shots, and she was SO gentle. I am really looking forward to having the rest of my dental work done here (who says that??), and to finally having issues addressed that are long overdue (like bite, pain, and crowded teeth). I would recommend them to anyone, and thanks to their Saturday appointments, I'm really hoping my fiance will start coming here too. read more

I came here with my now husband to get our teeth whitened before our wedding. I really wanted to make sure our smiles were sparkling for our wedding pictures and Dr. Wong and Dr. Woo really delivered! They were so efficient and were able to see both of us at the same time. Dr. Wong whitened my husband's teeth, while Dr. Woo cleaned mine, and then got my whitening done shortly after. They took all the necessary precautions to protect you from the whitening chemicals and lights; making sure their patients have adequate eye protection and put on stuff to protect your gums as well! I was nervous because when I have done previous at-home whitening, my gums were very sore after. Because of the precautions they took, none of the whitening solution even touched my gums. After they put on all the stuff, you sit under the light for several cycles. They check in on you constantly and they also leave you with a bell to call them in case you start feeling tooth sensitivity. If you do, they come right away and adjust the settings on the machine. My husband had the full 1 hour treatment without sensitivity. I had mild sensitivity after the procedure, but Dr. Woo applied a sensitivity strip on my tooth which relieved it within 5 minutes! She also made sure to send us with a at-home gel that can relieve sensitivity but neither of us even had to use it. The results are instant and our teeth were super white, but they still sent us home with trays and at home whitening solution in case we wanted to touch up the results even more before the wedding. I haven't had to use it yet because I am super satisfied with the results, but am definitely happy to have it for future use. The treatment was definitely worth the money spent! read more

I've always trusted Dr. Woo and Dr. Wong to be thorough and clear when it comes to dental care. They have always been incredibly patient when it comes to answering a ton of questions and explaining what their thought processes are. They are very responsive to the needs of the patient and will work to find a plan of care that works for you based on your concerns and preferences. Sarah is a kind and friendly woman. She has been my dentist since I was a kid so over 20 years now. I never had an aversion to go to the dentist because she always made it seem fun. At the end of the aptt, I would get to choose a toy from her drawers of toys. She had different toys for diff. age groups. I was quite sad that when I was in my teens she started giving me floss instead of telling me to pick a toy from the drawer :*( The equipment could be more high-tech like Ive seen in other places, but her service is what will have me coming back again and again. She is definitely a gem in our fast pasted corporate culture--her office has an old timey feel and her hospitality matches. read more

Sarah has been my dentist since I was 4 so despite having moved to the 'burbs years ago, I still make the trek to SF to see her after her receptionist sends the bi-annual reminder postcard. What can I say other than I LOVE SARAH? She's known me almost my entire life so every visit is like a mini-extended-family reunion b/c she mentions the last time she saw members of my immediate and extended family. Heck, she sees some of these people more often than I do. She has a single chair so when the concept of having a "hygienist" in lieu of a dentist is completely foreign to me. There's no surrounding chaos and when it's your turn, you'll get her full attention (well, I do but then I am also probably one of her long-standing clients so there's more to catch up on between visits). The receptionist also always remembers me when I call in to make an appointment :). In conclusion, I'm aware my review is slightly biased but I don't care! She may be all I know but she was always attentive to my needs, questions, and requests (eg: "Can I get another mouth guard? I lost mine... again") and I couldn't ask for a better dentist. read more

I've been going to Sarah for about 3 years now. She's a friendly, no-nonsense, in and out kind of cleaning gal. There's a bit of tough love out there for all you non-flossers, but she gives great advice and tools from her secret stash of dental toys. The front desk staff is always pleasant, I get a postcard and a reminder call for my appointment since I tend to forget 6 months out, and she doesn't push for unnecessary appointments or procedures. The office is well versed in all types of insurance as well, sometimes better than I know my own! It's not the most up to date office tech-wise, but they always remember my past visits/issues, take detailed notes in my file and I always feel like I'm being listened to. read more

I could not recommend W Dentistry more! I have been seeing both Dr. Wong and Dr. Woo for many years and have always been impressed by how professional, personable and efficient they are! Most recently, Dr. Woo helped me address an issue with a discolored front tooth that I had put off for years. Dr. Sarah Wong has been my dentist since 1981 (I think) ... Whoa, that's longer than most of my closest friendships. I wouldn't trust anyone else with my teeth's health. She personally performs your cleaning, X-rays, etc and with perfect timing, she hands you the spit water after she's done and points you to the spittoon. Full service with a great smile. I really look forward to my visits - which is incredible. Definitely can't wait to see her new digs at 490 Post. Give this gal a call! You won't regret it. Moving to a new city and finding a dentist is nothing short of terrifying. By some stroke of luck I landed in Dr Woo's chair. She is absolutely wonderful. Review for a crown replacement. I broke a crown after biting something "crispy" in my sandwich and, in hindsight, probably swallowed a broken piece of my porcelain crown... ugh. Dr Wong's receptionist Lynda fits me in to someone else's cancelled time slot for the next day! The exam was straightforward, got insurance info squared away, and the Dr took impressions for my new porcelain crown that day. The turnaround time to get the crown made and installed was quick because I needed to get this done before i leave town. I am so glad Dr Wong and the lab she used to manufacture the crown pulled through with this "rush order" Just got the crown installed during my second appointment, one week later, and everything is great so far! Very happy with the customer service and straight forward process (as straightforward as a crown can be)! Responsive and accommodating! Thank you! read more

What can I say... After years of dental hygiene neglect, I walked into Dr Woo & Dr. Wong's office with half of one of my molar chipped off, multiple cavities, and years without a teeth cleaning. At this point I was convinced that either A - no dental work could possibly fix me or B - incur dental bills for years to come. Dr. Woo couldn't have been more personable, honest and and a true expert at what she does. When I say half of my back molar had been chipped off, It was really more like 70%! I was very skeptical how, and if, any dentist would be able to shape and rebuild my molar. To make matters we could see that this gaping cavity was a hairline away from my nerve..... At this point i'm crossing my fingers - please no root canals! With tremendous care, Dr. Woo was able to rebuild my molar. No root canals needed! I left the office and couldn't feel or see any evidence of the filling and as a bonus had 0 pain or discomfort. The reason why Dr Woo & Wong really merit a five star rating is because of their transparency and options they gave me concerning all my dental work. Many of my past dentists never have really 'discussed' any options, they just tend to 'do' and charge me after. Dr. Wong laid out my options, pros-cons and alternatives. The difference between my experience with Dr. Woo vs prior dentists, is that they took interest in me as a patient rather than as a customer! read more

Dr. Wong and Dr. Woo are wonderful professionals and both graduated from UCLA dental school. Their staff is friendly and polite as well. I went in for a cleaning and had some work replacing my silver amalgams with resin composite, which required multiple trips, because I had so many to replace. I highly disliked visiting my dentist as a child mainly because I felt that they were always trying to game my family into unnecessary treatments without much explanation. Although I won't ever know if that's true, what I do know is that Dr. Wong and Dr. Woo only try to give you the best dental treatment that you need. They explain to you before what they will do, and explain to you after what they actually did if there were complications. As a patient I truly appreciate how they look after your interests. read more

I don't typically leave reviews, but I want everyone to know how wonderful W Dentistry is. It had been too long since I had been to the dentist and I was dreading going. Little did I know, there wasn't anything to dread. Yes, I had to have a deep cleaning that took more than one visit. But they made me feel so comfortable and there wasn't any judgement at all having skipped 2 years since my last cleaning. It's understandable why people have been going here for 20+ years or have moved away and still figure out how to make appointments with Dr. Wong & Dr. Woo. Or why they tell all their friends and family. They're exceptionally kind and they know what they're doing, I've never found a dentist that I trust and built a rapport with so quickly. From the front office, to the assistants, to the doctors themselves, it's an honestly great experience. read more

Complete agreement with the other low rating. I felt like the cleaning was too quick and not at all thorough. She looked and saw stains but explained those don't necessarily mean cavities. Usually my old dentist prods with the silver spike (not the technical term, I know) to see if it sticks. She did not do this. Similarly, she must have been distracted by something because when she was digging the plaque off my teeth, she skipped over the whole top left side. When I was finished I told her that was the fastest teeth cleaning I have ever had and mentioned doubt that they were actually clean. Usually my teeth are slippery and clean feeling. After leaving her office, I still had that slight furry feeling. Thank goodness it was covered by insurance because if I had to pay for that I would be much more upset. Onward! read more

W Dentistry - General Dentistry Near Me - San Francisco, California

This review is long overdue! W dentistry was recommended to me by a friend a few years ago. I have been to several dental practices in San Francisco, and this is the only one I will go to now. When my kids are up for their next appointments I plan to switch them to W dentistry as well. Dr Woo is so sweet and patient, and knows her job well. The last time I came in I had a cavity and she took care of it in about 5 minutes (not an exaggeration). Yes, it was a small cavity, but still, it was painless and so quick. She's the best dentist I've been to, but that's not the only reason why I love this practice so much. The entire group, from Dr. Woo, to her mom who also practices there, to Linda who manages scheduling, every one of them is so nice and fun to talk to. They're also incredibly accommodating: I've had a hard time finding appointment times that work because I have two young children, and W Dentistry has always worked with me and been so kind about it when I've had to reschedule because one of them has fallen ill (which, with one kiddo having just started preschool, is happening far too often), or because of other conflicts. Try W Dentistry. You will not regret it! read more
