Amazing Company to work with!…read more We have used Demo Boys 2 times in the last year and both projects we were just blown away by their level of detail and expertise, especially since we have a house from the late 1800s. The first project we did with Demo Boys was a complete gut job of our large 2nd floor bathroom. It was done in less than a week and no dirt or scratches were left behind on the stairwell or anywhere in the house! They even left behind some the of protective mats for the flooring so other contractors would not damage the floors! (Demo boys will come and pick them up when the project is complete) Our 2nd job was a gut job of our partially finished basement. Johnathan and his team were able to complete it in one day and walked us through what all of the old pipes were in the house and took removed all of the pipes and wires what are no longer in service! Woke up early the other morning with the blaring of the Septic high level alarm. It's a sound I…read morehope to never hear again. I searched for help online and had only two responses to my request. The first response was within a few minutes of my post and it was from KR Contractors. One other company responded about 45 minutes later. I was given a phone number to call for my septic tank issue and called it immediately. Rob answered and I explained what was going on. He said he was on his way and would be there soon. Rob arrived within an hour and assessed the problem with my septic lift pump and the holding tank it sits in. We pumped down the tank only to find ground water leaking in profusely at the piping penetration to the mound. The ground water was from all the rain we had just had the night before but it should not have been leaking into the tank at all. Long story : KR Contractors pulled the old pump and pumped the tank to assess the ground water leak. Had to dig up the dirt around the piping penetration in the tank to fix the ground water leaking in. This part of the job required a backhoe which was on the scene as soon as we determined we needed it. Backhoe operator was a pro and easily removed the dirt in about a ten foot long by four foot long trench so they could get to the piping that needed to be replaced. Turns out the old cast iron sleeve around that section of piping to the mound had cracked and that was where the ground water was entering into the system flowing into the septic lift pump tank. They removed that section of piping and replaced it with all new PVC piping (no more cast iron sleeves) and fixed the piping penetration into the tank so no ground water could leak in again. During this event we checked the voltage on the power plug for the Septic Lift pump and found it to be 92 volts or so. Should be 120 volts or the pump will fail due to high current draw due to the low voltage. Quick assessment showed the old power plug had deteriorated over time so it was replaced with a new, high quality power plug. Power turned on and now voltage at the pump is 121 volts. So there were quite a few issues here: Failed pump (17 years old so it did a good job and perhaps the low voltage caused it to fail early), voltage at power plug was 92 volts, ground water leaking into the tank causing the pump to cycle on and off quite a bit or run continuously. Everything was repaired, replaced and improved quickly by KR Contractors. I am very pleased with the service and everyone involved in my fiasco were very pleasant to speak to and deal with. I highly recommend them for any issues like mine. Check out their website, they do more than septic. Great company, great people!

Our project was a…read moresimple interior staircase and we were told they use all their own people and their contract Terms stated 90 days to complete the project. First of all their own people are designers and project managers, all labor is done by sub-contractors. Unless you are assigned their "A" team be very concerned because we initially were not and spent 4 miserable months under poor project management and poor carpentry work which had to be torn out twice. Nothing was installed to code twice and the railing was only held in place by three nails. During these first 4 months there was not one minute of work done one whole month. Finally executive management visited our home and immediately said to tear out everything and proceeded to change the project manager and assigned their No. 1 project manager, carpenter, painter and carpet installer. In just over another month because of minor problems we have a finished project. Total project took 98 days (only Mon-Fri counts) so we asked for price concessions since it exceeded the contract of 90 days and we are paying over $30,000. They conceded like $300 and said the delays were largely because of scheduling sub-contractors through a very busy 2022 fall. Of course there is wordage in the contract they can quote. It would have been a big risk on our part to go to court and possibly shelling out even more money to cover that expense. Definitely a terrible experience.

It's now been about 4 months since he finished the work and each day I look at our new bathroom and think "wow!' He did a great job! He was patient and always responsive to any questions or issues, and cleaned up each day. Great workmanship too. He started out by measuring and answering any questions we had, offering ideas here and there but letting us make our own decisions. Unlike some other contractors, he did not give fancy 3D architectural renderings, nor did he accompany us to each supplier to pick out products. Here's what his process was, which was perfect for us. We received a proposal contract which listed each item or task, along with a cost allowance for each item. If we chose something more expensive than its allowance, the final price would reflect the increase. If what we chose cost less than the allowance, the final cost would go down by that much. So we had a bottom line price from the start and would have the final decision on expenses. He then also gave us a list of his suggested suppliers from which to pick out all of the products. We worked with those suppliers to make selections at their respective showrooms (they work with TLC regularly), and they forwarded our selections to Terry. A few selections we made were from suppliers not on his list, which was fine, but the places he suggested were where most of the items came from. When all selections were made, he provided us with a revised proposal contract reflecting our selections and revised costs. Then he - not us - did the ordering from each vendor to insure that all of the parts and pieces fit together and would work, plus that way his contractor discount was applied. His final contract to us was transparent and showed all prices. No additional markups, no change order fees, no nonsense. If someone wants computer-generated architectural renderings, having him present at each supplier meeting, one central showroom where every needed product and samples are all in one place, then this type of contractor isn't likely for you. If however, you want a remodeling contractor that not only provides the quote but also does the actual work himself, with reliable suppliers that work with him, with a fair price and a minimal amount of stress (if that's possible lol), then TLC's a good choice. Would we recommend TLC Contracting? If you haven't it already guessed: the answer is absolutely!
